Are you kidding?!(funny sarcasm) Comparing Angel to Firefly is like comparing an apple to the same apple! Except different, because one show's in space, the other's in L.A. They are both the same quality product.

Firefly is still my favorite, but I have to say, jossisagod is right. The shows are so different that it almost seems unfair to compare the two.

Now if you're going to ask which character would win in a fight...

I got nothing against Buffy or Angel. I thought is more a younger crowds thing. For me watching some young hot blond at my age damaged my calm. I would say FF hands down. Westerns, guns, action, and brothels whoo doggie is my thing. Ahh, I did get into a teenage soap called Roswell I thought it had alittle x file to it. Hercules was also little better than I thought.

I like smacken em

Mmm, fun question! First I need to suss out which episode of Angel I thought was best.

Lets see…Angel…

I’m a sucker for love, check. I’m a sucker for tragedy involving love. Wesley is my favorite male on the show, check. Fred is my favorite female, check. My favorite moment would involve all four elements and that would probably get me right next to my favorite episode.

So, I’m looking at season five’s “A Hole in the World” or “Not Fade Away.” Both episodes have scenes in them that I really, really enjoy (like, a lot). I don’t want to spoil anything for someone that hasn’t seen the final episodes of Angel so I won’t go on in detail about them. My favorite scene was in “Not Fade Away” but, as a whole, I’d give the nod pretty handily to “A Hole in the World.”

Okay, so now I’m all geared up with my favorite episode of Angel. Now for Firefly…

This is a bit tougher. I’m still a sucker for love, yes, and the Mal and Inara interaction (and consequence) in “Heart of Gold” got me pretty good. However, picking a favorite character becomes very difficult. One might suspect, given my aforementioned giddiness for the love element that Mal and Inara would be favorites…but nooo. I mean, they are; but only sometimes. At other times I like Jayne best of all. At other times, Zoe. Many times River is my favorite. There be a fair bit of hopscotch going on here.

And all that hoppity-hopping tells me something: overall, there’s more for me to enjoy in Firefly. So, I’ve effectively done nothing more than say, at this point, that I enjoy Firefly more than Angel. But what of comparing favorite episodes? Now I’m snagged.

I’m snagged because finding the my favorite episode of Firefly is, I dunno, like asking which piece of cheesecake in the tin is the best. Why, hell, they’re all great. And I cannot go by scenes at all this time because there are favorite scenes smattered all throughout the series. Can’t find my way to singularity going that route. However, if Niska were to put the screws to me and entice an answer, why I’d have to either blurt out “Out of Gas” or “Objects in Space” as being my favorite episodes. (And, btw, after having left out several other excellent episodes I’d feel dirty about my decision. Probably because Niska’s torture had caused me to soil myself.)

Now, of those two episodes, which is my favorite? I’m just going to have to weasel out and not choose.

But I’ll say this, either one is better, to me, than the best episode of Angel.

So there, question answered.

Now I’m off to take a bath because, yuck, choosing between Joss and Joss has set the world a tilt and I hope a good soak resets it.

I agree with ya Rhae, and welcome to the site, BTW! Nice to have another new Browncoat aboard!
Angel's fifth season was about as close to Firefly quality as either Buffy OR Angel would ever get, but at that point it had evolved signifigantly from it's humble beginnings, I feel. It was working with many 'givens', and was not compltely as able as Firefly to tell the calibur of stories, or have the characters shine as brightly, as it was not free of the baggage that needed to be addressed from previous seasons. But what it did, it did oh so well. I just wish they got one more season to properly tie things up. But S5 was a thing of beauty nonetheless.
However, for me, Joss hit an all-time high with Objects in Space, possibly my single favourite episode of any TV EVER!!!

No. The best episode of Angel is worse than the worst episode of Firefly (or Buffy or the Simpsons for that matter). Sorry not a fan of tall, dark and forehead.

Yikes! That must have been painful to suss out. Makes perfect sense the way you say it but if I'd tried to post that I'd have concluded Buffy either was 45 minutes late for the train or Angel did it in the library with a candlestick.

And, for a certainty, "Once More With Feeling" is in my top five Joss stories. I am one hundred percent smitten with that episode.

Go ahead and flame me, ChrisIsAll. I shouldn't even be in this thread since I've hardly seen any Angel and I should learn about talking on Joss series that I haven't seen. Just not a fan.

I watched (read bought) season 5 for Spike. Must admit, that I found the 'wee puppet' episode funny and Adam luscious but I'm just not involved with those characters.

Meanwhile, Firefly is my heart so I can't be all mathematical about it like some.

Wow, "very hard" just might be an understatement.

Might need the weekend to think on it.

Just starting to watch Buffy and Angel on Netflix, and only because I am wearing out my Firefly dvds. And I have got to say when I first saw the Firefly marathon on Sci-fi last year, I couldn't stop watching I loved all the BDH and couldn't get enough. But I find my self forcing myself to watch another Buffy ep. so I can send the dvd back. And the only character that really makes me laugh is Cordielia... must be a character flaw of mine. Then again, I am only half way thru season two. BTW a big thank you to all of you for supporting this show I may have never seen it but for you guys.

Not gonna happen. As it turns out, I got season 5 mainly for Spike also! Just lucky for me it happens to be, more or less, Angel's best season.

What episode are you on?

I know it's hard now, but keep watching. Once you get to the latter half of the second season, you'll thank me. The first season and a half is rough terrain, but it only gets better from there. Of course there are some people that will dispute that claim once you get to season six, but overall, the latter seasons are the best (though season two is a personal favorite of mine).

I am a big Angel fan, but in terms of having a favorite episode, I can't really identify one. I have dozens of parts of episodes that I love, but no One. But I did really enjoy Guise will be Guise, where Wes acts as Angel. The eunech gag gets me every time. My favorite moment, just for the record, is from the second or third episode of the final season. The drunken fred and Wes stand in front of an elevator expectantly:

Wes: Come on, come on...

Fred: Did you push the button?

Wes: Oh (pushes button). Come on, come on...

Pure comedic genius.

That said, no part of any episode of Angel gets me like any part of any episode of Firefly. I love them all, every minute.

I agree with DeepGirl187, later seasons of Buffy are better. i.e. Spike heavy seasons. I refer to Season 2 as the mopey season (see earlier comments, not an Angel fan).

I know it's boring to say this, but I'm going with just as good. They're just SO different, but each is just SO Joss. If I absolutely had to choose, though, I'd have to go with ANGEL, for sentimental (and theraputic) reasons. But really, I love them both pretty much equally.
