Nice. Kinda reminds me of James Taylor meets Al Stewart...

No, it's shiny, Lindley! I like the surges of quiet and emotion.

Shiny indeed. There's just some places early on, where his voice is just a tad unsteady. Like I said, quite good, just could be a tad better.

Mightily sweet, Slinger! Much closer to the sweet, simple melancholy which Joss says he originally intended for the piece. Your variations in the chords are lovely, and really capture the longing quality which is in the words.

Personal bias is that a penny whistle would add a nice etherial yet earthy (that was...y) quality.

Keep strummin!

Do you think you might post or send me the tab? I have the chords down, but the riffs are a complete mystery to me.

Wow, loved it.

What a FANTASTIC voice. Our vocal skills here at home in the UK aren't quite as good, ( well lets be honest no way near, not even close) but we've enjoyed singin' along.

N.B. Re: Penny whistle - I think the guitar stands up fine on its own. Although, being a violinist I'm tempted to add something of my own. I'll resist that impulse, as less is more in this case!.
Keep singing......

Very nice. I worked out Joss's version. I recognize that you have arranged it using dropped D tuning. Could you tell us what the chords are? I haven't too much experience with that tuning.

Thanks for sharing your performance.

Ok, I was wrong when I said it downloaded only 1136 kilobytes. It had only downloaded 200 or so. But for some reason my computer won't download more than 1/4 of it at a time, no matter how many times I tell it to save the file. I've concluded that this is becuase it's designers have schemed to make me miserable. To download it, I had to copy and paste the URL, let it download a piece, and click the back and forward buttons. Then I finally said "save page as." Anyways, thanks for the awesome singing.

Again, thank you for your very kind responses.

I have posted a version of the tab (which is similar to the second version mentioned above at message #27 the OB thread, but is a little bit more basic) at

http://pjshapiro.com/Ballad_of_Serenity_tab.doc

I hope you find it useful.

Finally, if you are having problems downloading or playing the file, please contact me at pjshapiro@pjshapiro.com.

I'd call you the official FFF.net troubador, String.

Brilliant as usual. Soulful and genuine. You always make it sound like we're sitting around a fire on some planet other than this one, passing a jug around with the crew, and Serenity close by, gilded by moonlight .
