I actually haven't been listening to him that much, as my media hard drive won't let the computer turn on when it is plugged in (might be some sort of IDE problem, will work on it tonight).

Wife and sons moved out this weekend, so I will have lots more free time on my hands, at least on a couple of weekdays. I need to get back to my fanfic writing, and I have books and movies that I want to take in. I suppose I should be working on something useful, like teaching myself the basics of knitting or improving my sewing ability or something.

How's your world?

Ahhh, nice fresh digs to stretch out in. I will join RIMG's dance, though not for firsties.

I had an awesome possom weekend. Amazingly huge thrift store opened up a few miles down the road from me. I was in Heaven! Tidbit and Husband had a good weekend, too. All around good days.

I hope all is well with everyone...as I go get some more caffinated beverage. Yum!

RIMG, I am sorry to hear about the moving out. But, I am happy that you have plans for your new spare time. I would reconsider the knitting thing...it's a good skill, but a frustrating one!

Your tag inspired me to listen to Eddie last night...Glorious and Dressed to Kill...while sewing. So, there may be some off-line stitches where I was laughing a bit too hard!

My world is good. Looking forward to getting some time off of work over the holidays to get some costume pieces developed.

TeeHeeHee, I love a good thift store!!!

4 pairs of pants/jeans/sweats for tidbit, as his weed like growth is hard to keep up with. About 1.50 each, some with tags still on.

Bag of 3 brand new tennis balls for my big sis' dog for Xmas. 25 cents.

Several small bags of toys, each of which held at least one Pokemon figure for tidbit. 50 cents each.
(Had to browse through thousands of these bags to find Pokemon figures.) Tidbit played Pokeon happily all weekend with them!

A beautiful cotton Kimono robe for me $3.50

A set of 3 glass serving bowls (Pyrex?) $1.95

Tristan - the knitting just popped into my head off the bat, as it would be good to be able to contribute something else to the 76th.

Mav - A smokey treat does sound nice, but I get to go to lunch in less than an hour so I will have one then. The thrift store sounds fun, and my son is big on Pokemon too. I plan on getting him several toys for xmas, as right now he only knows about the show.

Wow, Mav, sounds like you cleaned them out there!

My brother and I found a neat store in GA that was a cross between a junk store and a warehouse...they had stuff piled from floor to ceiling on rickety shelves; the sign on the building said "If we don't have it, you don't need it"...and they were not kidding! Stuff from as early as the 40's and 50's in the original packing selling for the original prices! I got something like 5lbs of various brass buttons for about $15.00! And all sorts of other things, too! So, I understand totally about shops like that!
Enjoy the smokie treat, and don't forget the coffee!

RIMG, I tried knitting, and it was one of the "soft" arts that I could never really get the hang of. Good luck with it! And beer and cookies will be a wonderful contribution to the 76th!

I am glad to provide the beer and cookies, though I can't really do either on a daily basis (I mean I could, but it would really cut into my coin). I do plan to get the ingredients for the D*C beer after my next paycheck so I can brew it soon and make sure it works the way I want it to.

I suppose writing fanfic and catching up on my movies/TV/books will take a lot of that time up anyhow.

Back on for a minute- forgot to mention that I bid on a Pokemon set of figures from ebay over the weekend, and the seller is in Anniston, Alabama. Isn't that your town, Tristan?

I learned how to knit many years ago, as something to do with my hands while on dialysis. It can be very soothing if you get the hang of it. Just knitting dishrags and potholders can be kind of zen. I still enjoy it.

Tristan - I am sure there would be plenty of help, and couple possibly even go into the business of operating a minor mocrobrewery (ideas...hmmmm). The original batch I will do on my own, shouldn't be a lot, and if it is too bad I will get folks to donate $0.50 or $1 at most for the ones at D*C. With ingredients and shipping and everything, it still usually comes out to only ~$1/beer. Along the microbrewery line though, I could do entire batches of beer for people upon request, getting them to pay for the ingredients.

MSG - saw your pics, and they look great. I have not seen clerks 2 but I really want to, so hopefully I will get it soon (rented Inside Man and hustle & Flow and still have to watch them). Good luck with the busy day.

I really like the idea of a 76th Independent Battalion beer...sort of a dark ale or stout...yeah...now you got my wheels going!
I am still playing around with bottle-holder ideas and backpacks...I have plenty of scrap leather and cloth around, and usually tinker when I need a break from the regular sewing.

Tristan- Annie's favorite was the elephants or 'phants as she calls them. Wyatt loved the monkey house best. I'm hoping my sis will email the cute pics of them holding hands as they toddled around the zoo. The only thing they didn't like was that I wouldn't let them pet the animals.

I kinda like the idea of having a bandolier as well as a satchel for the beer, though making a bandolier that would keep it somewhat cold could get very tricky. I wish I were better at this clothing design thing, as I feel a bit useless on the matter at the moment.

RIMG, I like the idea of a bandolier, too. Only thing I can think of would be padded holders...kinda like the coozies (if that's what they are called) in each "holder", along with a decent-sized backpack with the bottles staggered. And don't worry about the sewing thing...I go nuts with it. If I don't have a project to do, I make stuff up, so having this to think about keeps me sane.

Are they fighting ?" .I swear those cats planned it for the crowd.

Tristan - I was thinking coozies too, though it is all up to you on the implementation. Maybe I will make a road trip up there in a couple of months and bring a few beers along for some testing.

LA - The lions in Atlanta never seem to have any energy when we are there. I am not sure if their enclosure is too small or what, but we hardly ever get to see much of them. The tigers are great though, one even came up and licked the glass where my hand was.

LOL LA I hate when they do that or other animal behaviors that you then have to explain. We made it up to them though since they got to pet 4 sheep, a camel, a donkey, and a goose when we went to the live nativity. Wyatt loved the camel.
We went to my sister's house last night and Annie read me her new book of animals including the uppo ( hippo) and the grraff( giraffe) It was a blast.

Oh thought of a ponderable. What is your favorite Christmas (or Winter) movie and why?

Mine is Muppet Christmas Carol because it's all the sweetness of the original with the humor and fun of muppets :)

LA29, I use both a machine and hand-stitching. I learned at a relatively early age, received a lot of guidance in college (the costume Professor is a friend and hero of mine), and did a lot of personal research and development. It's an enjoyable hobby/pasttime/part-time job, but I still get weird looks every now and then.

RIMG, good deal. I do think a road trip might be in order for the testing!
The only thing I am a bit leery of is the amount of weight for a big backpack. Again, I'll have to play with some ideas.

MSG, I love petting zoos! Never had the chance to see a live nativity, though.

Being not so big into christmas, I don't really have a favorite christmas movie, though I was in a stage production of A Christmas Carol (I was a singing street vendor and a jazz-dancing shop apprentice) so any version of that story is good. Saw a Flintstones one yesterday.

Tristan, I can probably carry a good many, as I am not a small man by any stretch of the imagination. If I recall correctly, we packed out backpacks up to 20% of our weight when I was a Boy Scout, which would amount to 60ish lbs. The beers were a little more'n a lb when I mailed them to various parts of the country, so carrying a couple dozen should be no sweat.

I think the best Christmas movie is probably A Muppet Christmas Carol. Micheal Caine, Kermit, and the usual assortment of Muppets. Oh, and Die Hard 1 and 2 are great Christmas movies too...yes, they ARE Christmas movies.

On a side note, I would SO drink a beer that had a bandoleer. I think I would also drink beer FROM a bandoleer. That's what you should do Tristan...make me a beer-doleer...I wouldn't have to get up and go to the fridge ever again!

DieHard is definitely an xmas movie.

I can't think of any movies I prefer to watch at this time of year over any other, though I have been watching Waiting and Usual Suspects a lot recently (fall asleep trying to finish them).

Though I gotta be a well-stocked medic, a good portion of the weight is going to also come from the cooling, I would think.

I've made an appointment with my buddy John at Outsiders for Wednesday at 6PM. I figure that I've worked my ass off and deserve some new ink. The Serenity kanji that is on the passenger side wing window of Ginny will find a permenant place on my body, but where? I'm tryin' to keep my left bicep/shoulder clear for a large piece later. My right shoulder already has the flaming skull, and my right calf has the five color phoenix (will post pics soon).

So folks, any suggestions?

I'm a fan of symmetry, and have always been fond of tattoos that are in the back of the neck, right on the spine. Or just below the neck. But centered. X-mas movie: I'll have to go with Nightmare before Christmas as well. It used to be A Christmas Story, but TNT ran it into the ground by running it all freaking day every Christmas. *thinking* Since it takes place during the Christmas season, does the first Lethak Weapon movie qualify? If so, that actually heads my list.

X-mas TV special is a tie with How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph.

NVG's tattoo. I like the poetical aspect of Tristan's suggestion of over your heart. Centered on the small of your back is a nice place, too.

LOL, that is definitely my favorite Christmas movie too!!! Been watching it on Christmas day since I was a little kid....Gotta love those muppets.

However, I usually don't like Christmas movies for the same reason I don't really like Christmas songs...they are all way overdone, sappy, or really commercialized. It just bothers me sometimes is all...

I just spent an entire day, from 4:30 AM to 6:00 PM, in classrooms, offices and other similarly clerical spaces doing nothing but paperwork, ceremony and pre-planning. To anyone that does that shit for a living... my hat is off to you. I'm literally having stomach aches and am on the verge of throwing up from it all.

I have already started watching my Christmas movies.

The serious one is Battleground. The 101st Airbourne holding Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Can you imagine spending Christmas with artillary rounds going off all around you.

The romantic one is Bell, Book and Candle. James Stewart and Kim Novak. Kim novak is my second love. I should add her to my signature one of these days.

The rest are comedies. Lemon Drop Kid with Bob Hope. Yes it is a Christmas movie. They actually sing Silver Bells in this one. It may be the first time Silver Bells was in a movie, it is that old.

Next is the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Well I don't think I have to tell you about this one.

And finally A Christmas Story. I think it has already been mentioned and I suspect most of you know this one too.

Which is my favorite? Bell, Book and Candle takes the prize. Kim Novak really puts the spell on old James Stewart in this movie. Not a whole lot about Christmas, but is how the plot gets started.
