I have no interest in level grind, in mindless tasks to build up your character, in interacting with people who have no interest in roleplaying. If this game turns into one where it's filled with people off doing mundane tasks, hoping to get enough experience points so their 14th level Companion can become 15th level and they can get that really cool bonus feat, I'll be very disappointed. Having said that, I think there is a market for a different type of MMORPG, one where the emphasis is on roleplaying and meaningful interaction with other players and not on combat and mindless repetition. Anyone remember the old computer game Privateer? You purchased your ship, picked up cargo, and flew from starport to starport, dodging pirates, just trying to make a living out in the darkness of space. It was very similar to the old Traveller RPG (which, of course, is very Firefly-esque itself). That's the kind of thing I'd like to see in the Firefly MMORPG. A richly detailed star system where you can buy a ship, smuggle goods from place to place, fly off into the black to explore unknown areas, etc. Then you could land on a planet, interact with other players and NPCs, maybe get in a scrap or two before you get together enough money to fuel your ship and head off again. Players could join together to form a crew, or they could go it alone (maybe with an NPC crew). Combat would be deemphasized (but still exist - you do need a way to fight off those Reavers). Levels, experience points, classes and all the other cliches from RPGs would hopefully be non-existant. Your player would be defined by what you do. It would be a virtual universe where anything could happen. That's the kind of game I'd like to see. If it's just World of Warcraft with six-shooters instead of swords and Reavers instead or Orcs, count me out.
