I'm NOT insane. This explains almost everything about the loose ends of Firefly. Paladin posted a thread wanting to know what the crew of Serenity did about medical injuries before Simon was on board. I first was going to jokingly suggest they were just shot up with morphine, when I suddenly realized it all makes sense. The entire crew of Serenity are morphine addicts! Think about it for a minute.

Why is River so crazy?

She's not crazy. She's just psychic. If you had to sense the drug-related stupor of eight people 24/7, you'd be running around, thinking guns were sticks too!

Why don't they throw Simon/River off of the ship?

Obviously, as a doctor, Simon's medical kits were stuffed with morphine.

Why does Mal and crew ride in such a dusty ship with no spare parts?

Obviously, morphine is not cheap. This is also why they really raided the hospial in 'Ariel'. I bet those notes on Mal's arm just read 'Morphine' over and over again.

What was the needle Inara was holding in 'Serenity' for?

It was full of morphine! Because she's a morphine addict!

Why the hell doesn't Niska/Badger just hunt down Mal and kill him?

Because they'd be losing an entire crew of customers.

Am I totally whacked? Have I just seen the DVD too many times an been unable to figure everything out?

Morphine. heh........ wow. That's pretty funny. I guess that also explains why the crew keeps saying everything is "shiny."

Every one is a morphine addict. I find that odd, because if they were all morphine addicts, inanimate objects might move. But, hey! Everyone has their own theory.
