…or “Cause.”

Every now and then a person will make a post wherein they mention the “Browncoat Cause” to get our Verse back into television or up on the big screen.

And, as likely, this post will be followed by another post suggesting a Browncoat “Cause” isn’t worthy of being labeled a cause at all. A small litany of more worthy causes then ensues to give examples of real and important causes. World hunger. World poverty. World illiteracy. Oppression. Big old trees. Species going extinct. Greenhouse effects. You Can’t Possible Drill for Oil Here. Disaster relief. Et cetera.

What is the intent of such a post? Is it to put the Browncoat Cause “in its place?” Is it to say, “Hey, your values are really skewed,” there’re much more important things to focus on? Is it to suggest causes should be ranked? Of the list above, who wants to undertaking ranking those worthy causes? I don’t. Some of those causes wouldn’t even make a cause list for some folks; they’re anti-cause to the cause. Which is, oddly, their cause. Is there an anti-cause Santa Claus cause? (I couldn’t resist, forgive me.) Or, is it to suggest the Browncoat Cause isn’t a worthy cause?

Browncoat Cause is a worthy cause and here’s why this is the case: Michael Jordan.

Huh?

Saunter this way, I won’t dally. There are many folks that believe a superstar cannot possibly be worth what they’re paid. They are, though. Instead of viewing them as superstars take a moment to view them as doctors. Yeah, play along for a moment. If stress is a major detriment to health then those that can alleviate stress, even for an hour, are worth something. A massage therapist might charge $50 a session for an hour of stress relief. The reduction in stress, the argument goes, helps improve health. If Michael Jordan brings an hour of stress relief to one million people, what’s that worth? How much good (if health is a good thing) is that man doing? Is it worthy? It’s worth something.

Enjoyment. Amusement. Recreation. Entertainment. Joy. Are these valuable? Are they important? Can they have healthful benefits?

What impact would a new hour of “Firefly” have on the health of its viewers? Would it bring joy? Do joyful people live longer? Is extending life worthy or unworthy?

The Browncoat Cause is a worthy cause. To those that care, it brings the promise of joy, stress relief, entertainment, excitement, laughter and smiles. This isn’t a Browncoat thing, this is a story thing. Stories have power to heal. Chicken soup for the…. oh, right.

Browncoats are fighting for their healing stories.

It’s a worthy cause.

Rhae, why do you always think when I talk about faith you think I am talking about God. Don't get bummed just believe. Its the only thing that'll walk you through this. Browncoat cause is worthy. So some folks have to much wind in the lungs and like to let ya know it. The world was saved when Baby Jesus was born. So Rhae click those little red heels and believe your back in the verse. I like Santa.

I don't kill santas. I do.

"Battle of Serenity, Mal. Besides Zoe here, how many-" "I'm talkin at you! How many men in your platoon came out of their alive".

Maybe it's all just semantics. Some people seem to have a stronger connotation for 'cause' than others.

How about this: instead of 'cause', we'll call it a 'quest'. Our mission statement: do whatever is reasonable and necessary to get more of the 'verse.

Unless someone has a problem with the word 'quest'... (Hey, at least I didn't suggest 'crusade'!)

I'm pointin' right at it!

You say quest, I see Robbin Williams in New York searching for the Holy Grail.

I was going for something closer to Don Quijote, madly tilting at windmills...
