BROWNCOATKC

I have recently become a browncoat and faithful follower of all things firefly. I was VERY pleased to find this sight and this community. After my sister "showed me the light" ive been hooked like a baby on crack. she told me the whole story of how i wouldnt even have been able to see the BDM without this much online support. I would like to send a THANK YOU to all those before me that kept fly'n so i could share this wonderful show. I believe it has filled a void in my life that id been searching endlessly for. as we say u cant stop the signal. Keep Fly'n browncoats we grow stronger everyday.

FIREFLYGAL

Welcome to the fold! You are among friends who saw something more in Firefly than "just a TV show". We keep spreading the word throughout the 'Verse to increase our ranks.

We have some unofficial greeters here on the board who should be by soon to offer you some virtual Mudder's milk, strawberries and other goodies. So pull up a seat in the galley and join in the conversations.

If you've never been to a sci-fi convention but have thought about it check out www.dragoncon.org, some of the Firefly cast are usually guests and it's a great place to hang with fellow Browncoats. Also if DragonCon interests you consider joining the 76th Battalion and march with us in the parade. Ok, maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here.

Check out www.OutToTheBlack.com for shiny pretties for the Firefly fan.

Do enjoy yourself here, we KNOW how you feel.

I aim to misbehave!

Go forth and recruit. Share your new found love for Firefly. The more people who love the 'Verse, the better.

1. Look at the guerilla marketing efforts
2. Watch the viral videos
3. Go buy the Visual Companion and Finding Serenity through the links on this site to help support fff.net
4. Read the unaired script
5. Buy a second copy of the episodes to loan to friends and coworkers

Welcome aboard Browncoat!

I got hooked on Firefly about a year ago, so I'm also relatively new to this world-wide phenomenon....and believe me, I've never been a joiner of any kind, and have never even been involved with message boards before this.

The "original fans" of Firefly, those lucky ( or un-lucky) to have seen it in 2002 are truly heros and they're amazing! I suggest you get a copy of " Done The Impossible" DVD...it chronicles the activities and efforts the Browncoats, Fillionairres, etc did FOR YEARS to get more Firefly material produced...ultimately leading to the movie Serenity. Also, there's alot of great music, interviews, etc. in this 1 hour documentary.

Like you stated, Firefly definitely does fill some voids in all our lives...I think that's the main reason everybody loves it so much.

I know Tristan & the 76th are marching at DragonCon in Atlanta next September. Look for any of the 76th threads for more info.

If you go to advanced google and search this site for "Browncoats in X" (Wherever you are) then you can see if a thread exists for your area.

You can also go to yahoo groups and look through the browncoat threads there. Most areas have a Browncoat thread through yahoo. Some also post on the OB (Original Board)
http://forums.prospero.com/n/main.asp?webtag=foxfirefly&nav=start&lgnJ
R=1

and other groups use serenitymovie -
http://www.serenitymovie.org/browncoats/forums/index.php?

Where do you live?

EDIT: And FollowMal hands out the virtual coats. She's a busy lady on many many boards but she'll be along shortly.
I just usually point out the buffet table ---->

How do, BrowncoatKC! We're so glad you've joined us! This is home for us and we hope it will become home to you as well.

I think if you just post on that thread, Tristan will notice you and take care of your application.

If you want to know what else is happening guerilla marketing wise in addition to the marching of the 76th, check out the Guerilla Marketing threads under the General Discussion threads, just keep scrolling down. You'll likely find something you'd like to participate in.

You can go to www.bigdamnboard.com and on the left sort of down a bit in the list is a list of local groups under Local Groups. You're likely to find your local group listed. You can also make your own local group.

Now... we come to the 'coat....

*hands BrowncoatKC a virtual browncoat that fits nearly perfectly*

Make yourself to home, enjoy the strawberries, and I suggest the shimmer wine-- the mudder's milk is a bit much for me.

Go to www.goodworkspresents.org to find out how to honor the Captain!

Welcome BrowncoatKC:

I have been away a couple of days and it nice to enter the fansite and see we have another recruit. I see FollowMal has found you, so you are in your new coat. You really made my day when I saw your post. Of all the wonderful things we do here at FireflyFans, it is welcoming a new Browncoat to our ranks that gives us the most joy. I hope you join in on our fun and games and post often. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask. You may think they have been asked before, but we are eager to share and inform. We don't mind answering any question or giving any aid to our fellow Browmcoats. So I hope to see your Signature often as I wonder through this here Verse.

Welome home, BrowncoatKC. You're #24269 to
join our very shiny crew. Coat looks right
fine on you, I must say. FM does a great job.

We'll be expecting some new 'Coats to be signing
on after Santa does his thing, because we know
there are hundreds of FF/S DVDs waiting to be
unwrapped and hundreds of new fans to be made.
They'll find their way here, we hope, and will
need welcoming.

I'm making lots of trips out to gather up new
supplies. If anybody arrives when I'm not here
to offer the berries, I assume someone'll step
up and fill the gap.

Current load includes nice, fresh berries and a
vast carton of ice-planets, all flavors.

Please don't step on ShipsCat or into her dish.

Spread the Firefly love wherever you can!

Can't wait to see a photo of you marching with the 76th.

I'll be about Ms. Bunny.. I'll take care of it, if I see that supplies need put in the cooler or the cupboards. Or if a new 'Coat arrives and needs fed. No worries. Be careful on those supply runs!

Looks like the crew has taken taken care of answering all your questions and setting you up with your virtual Browncoat and some goodies to eat. http://76thbattalion.homestead.com/index.html will be where you can sign up to march with us at DragonCon but PLEASE read the first post of the thread http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=26049 which pretty much lays down the rules we have so far.

Not really. Unfortunately, the Kansas City Browncoats website just died due to lack of traffic.

I myself live in Lenexa. I'd be up to getting together with any KC Browncoats sometime if we could ever figure out a time and place. I guess there's always my house if we had to...
