OMG, Kelkhi, Adam's butt. I might have to run out to get that one. Who cares if it's a bad movie.

Penguin, good to see you.

Magda, enjoy the movie. My feet were tapping through the whole thing.

11.20pm, so almost morning again.

We had thunderstorms at sunrise and sunset, with blue sky in between. It's going to get 'down' to 26C (78.8F) tonight and up to 33C (91.4F) tomorrow, with more thunder expected.

And was that a ninja smiley I saw lurking above?

Morning RIMG. Looks like we might actually have a little sun today, which would be a change.

Here's something to ponder maybe, I watched this one happen to a friend about a week ago.

What does it mean when someone makes a big fuss about wanting to be your friend, then completely ignores you for the next couple of weeks?

Mircea How are you? Hmmmm... might be that they are so bogged down with their own issues that they think you can cope with your own...? I have done something like that - without meaning to! I was seriously depressed, at the time, and had recently got together with a friend who's husband had died of a heart tumour, she's younger than me, and sh has two young sons - then I just felt like I wouldn't be good for her to be around at the time and kind of 'went quiet on her'... Stupid - I know - but luckily she understood, when we got together and talked it all through... I think that sometimes we believe our own problems are too overwhelming for us and we can't share them with others, especially when they have their own set of overwhelming issues... but we forget that sometimes people just "need to be needed..."

Then again - they might just be really self-absorbed and found someone else to play with nah - I am sure that is not the case!!

EDIT: I just cannot believe it - all those thunderstorms and nobody to 'share' them with Nico...

RIMG!!! How are you my Jimi-bear!!!???

MAVOURNEEN

Good Morning Magda, Mircea, NV & RIMG!

Things are hoppin' here in Maryland, so I'll be busy today. Preparing to close the month out, close the year, and moving files. The joy.

I'm not sure about the friend thing, Mircea.
I made a committment a few weeks ago to get back in touch with several friends I've made throughout the years that I've lost touch with, through every fault of my own. Several have been overjoyed to hear from me...and I can't tell you the sorrow I have to find out one passed away last year. She was just a little older than I am.

The worst part of this has been my anger. Anger at mutual friends of ours who COULD have contacted me when Dana died, but said "they didn't know where I was" or anger at myself for not staying in touch with a friend who I should have been there for.
I have chosen to be angry at myself. I will carry this for a long time, and it hard brought into sharp focus for me that I need to be a better friend to those whom I love.

Ok. Sad now.
Time to take it out on those damn 2006 files.
Back soon.

Oooooh - you snuck up when I wasn't looking again qing ren! Sneaky, sneaky ninja-like that is...

Oh Mavourneen - the weird thing is that I had lost contact with this friend who's husband died and I tracked her down when I found out her husband - who was younger than I am - had passed away! She is so wonderful and we were so close when we were in our teens and early 20s... I just was feeling overwhelmed at the time and now I look back I am ashamed that I let myself get that way!
Don't be mad at yourself sweetie - it is a waste of energy... just remember this the next time you make a choice and do what you wish you'd done last time...

Had to share - how embarrassing.

The owner's wife is the bookkeeper, and she sits at a desk behind me. She's about 75 years old, sweet as pie but VERY old fashioned.

We're moving files (I'm waiting for her to move hers before I move mine) and I was bent at the knees to get some files down low. My sweater must have pushed up as I was crouched down.

Imagine in your head a little old Jewish lady screeching:

"Oh My Gawd, you have a tattoo on your back!"

I guess she never noticed!
Then I got a 3 minute lecture about "young people marking their bodies."
I guess to her, I am young.

I saw ya Dayve. I just figured you were gone before I got in. (Offers peace offering) Root Beer?

Okay. So I met GND and Sissy up town last night while getting gas and cigarettes. I was introduced to one of GND's co-workers. A cute blonde country girl that seemed to have a good aire about her. So I decide to just be nice and include her like she's one of "us". GND gets all wierd and starts hangin' off me and flirting. I kinda blow her off and go my own way. Later we meet up at their (GND and Sissy's) house and we watch movies, same as usual. Note: The cutesy co-worker was not invited, go figure.
Anyhoo, GND discusses her plans ever so slightly for the weekend. She plans on going out of town to see her boyfriend with Sissy. And appearantly there is some "undiscussable" plans. I figure she's finally decided to do the deed and get it over with. So why the F^(k fo I care? Honestly, get it over with. I'm sure I'll have to hear about it later and will have some residual feelings over it not being me, but oh F'ing well. And I'm sure if something goes wrong this weekend I'll be expected to don the Mighty Mouse costume and fix shit. Lastly, I am reluctant to say anything at all. I hate being right. I'm tired of telling the same people whats gonna happen and being blown off, even if after the fact the fully admit that I was right.

On to the ponderable. Why do women do that thing? When your both in concur that you are friends and nothing more then they get all territorial when another bitch comes sniffin' around. I don't get it. Help me understand.

ok that's a tall order there NV ! Some women
(not myownself ) cannot tolerate not being wanted by any and every male in the area.Interest on her part has nothing to do with it, it's about attention. She wants to be the center of all male attention, plain & simple & if she's not she'll do whatever she can to become it.
I can't say how namy friends I've had that do that.Silly isn't it ?

In her book Cowboys are My Weakness, Pam Houston wrote something that has stuck with me for over 10 years.

A man desires the satisfaction of his desire; a woman desires the conditions of desiring."

It may also be the case that she clearly wanted co-worker to think she is desired by you. She asserted an "Alpha Female" stance (for lack of a better phrase) to the co-worker saying "This one is not available. Nothing to see here. Move along."

I don't know, NV. But I think the answer lies somewhere between that quote and the Alpha Female thing.

Quick thought- Maybe it's "If I can't have him then noone can have him, and stepping between you and anyone else?

Hmmmmm... I don't recall being guilty of this conduct, but I can't say it's a completely foreign notion.

Were it me, I'd say my reasons were this:

I get along better with guys. I have more guy friends than chick friends. Once a non-friend girl is introduced into the mix, I note a tendency for the guys to ignore the friends (both male and female) in pursuit of the non-friend girl (henceforth known as NFG). That's something that happens on both sides of the gender coin, true enough. But chicks, I think, are better at throwing the "no interference" flag at the other NFG in attempt to preserve their friendships. Guys, not so much. Once the NFG is established as just a chick friend, I imagine the flirting and territory-marking would stop.

(Does that make sense at all? I got about 4 hours' sleep...)

Edit: OR, she could just be a silly bint behaving the way Mavourneen described.

I've had this happen alot. But oh lord, if I'm to step in and say something...
Lets just say I've gotten it with both barrels, point blank. Of course I've heard apologies a year or so later, but thats neither here nor there.
Thanks to those who read my log. I rarely log anything here. I'm considering combining my logs and blogs. Makes for an easier post. COPY, PASTE. COPY, PASTE.
Back from the sidetrack, the worst case of this was a few years back. My bestest friend Mindy was havin' a hard time with her now ex husband and started drinking on New Years Eve. Long story short, I ended up taking her for a drive to sober up and she jumped on me. Had it been any other woman, it would have been on. But I maintained, praise Allah. That was a bad one.
It just really sucks how the actions of others dictate my dealings in the present. I have become callous and seemingly uncaring in alot of situations.
As for GND, I'm working with her. Even as a friend, she tells me and asks things in a more straightforward fashion. Of course, its taken me to tell her directly, "If you want or need something, ask for it. I don't have time for bullshit. No beating around the bush. Just cut the M F'er down and move ahead."

ADD: Makes perfect sense HK. I do see the same thing on both sides of the coin. But sadly, I'm lacking in the friend pool right now. Its okay though, less drama to be had.

HUGS amd much love NV my poor darlin you've been really ill used recently haven't you HUGS. I still want to know how in the smack you ended up in a town so filled with obviously near sighted and brain damaged women. There you are an amazing, funny, smart, kind, thoughtful, decent, terrific guy and they walk right past ...I seriously cannot figure out what in the fucking hell is wrong with those women. And I maintain my readiness to beat them senseless, shave them bald, and dump them( after smearing them with a variety of sticky substances) on the nearest fire ant hill!

Anyway, hi all. Sorry I missed yesterday I was on Wyatt duty all day. WE played, met Nana for lunch, went shopping and went to the main library wich has man made caves , fortress of solitude, and a pirates cavern to play in. We had a blast. Then this morning I went and got my nails done and ran errands...So back now and hugs to all

EDIT- oh and NV part of the jumping you thing may just be the fact that you are SERIOUSLY HOT!! and sometimes we just can't help ourselves.

Missed ya MSG. I might like to check out that library. The Nevada state museum has an underground mine exhibit fashioned, well, like a mine. I spent tons of time as a kid exploring the entire museum. Who knew that someday some of my work might end up there.

As for the women, they just got too much to choose from. Kinda like the men in Austrailia. Plenty of fun to be had, but substance seems to be lacking most of the time. Guess I just need to wander a bit and keep hope alive.

More to add in a minute on She Who Shall Not Be Named.

Hello MSG. How your day?

I think nighttime is dark so you can imagine your fears with less distraction.

Hi Mircea that suck that you can't come to D*C HUGS

NV- ok see total weirdos. Right now it would take me the fingers of both hands and many more to count all the women I know who'd be lining up to get a chance at a guy like you. Yeah the library rocks here's a pic of the outside

one part of the interior

Thr childrens area is in the basement and they've created caves areas in ther side walls which have the ice fortress, pirate cavern, etc. Plus they've a puppett theater and computer area and tons of little nooks for reading most with mini child sized sofas and such. It's really amazing.

My dear imponderables...oh how I've missed you. It makes me sad that when I go to post I actually have to log in because I've been away for so long. :frap:

Christmas was nice, but I'm sitting on a very bruised arse from where my ponio decided to dump me. Dumbass. Twasn't necessarily his fault, but he's a dumbass, nonetheless. Bruise is pretty cool though. I wish I could take a picture of it without it revealing that it is, in fact, my bum. It was seriously black...Not black and blue, just black...for DAYS. Finally after almost a week it is turning shades of purple.

Hope everyone has whatever type of New Year's they want...quiet, drunken, whatever. Do it the way you like it.
