It would seem an obvious home for the series. Scifi has had untold success with Battlestar, the Stargate franchises, Dr. Who....why not firefly? It seems appropriate that a letter writing-email campaign begin to the Sci-fi channel to bring back firefly. Contact Mutant Enemy....write everyone! Stir the bee's nest! The fans brought back firefly into a movie.....let's bring it to scifi! Write the channel today!

Just an FYI, Mutant Enemy ceased operations sometime after the cancellation of Angel.

There are several of us FFF on SciFi forums and there is a dedicated thread there for begging... it's "SciFi hear us" and I think the Firefly site has gotten so many visitors; that's why the series has, upon occasion been aired on SciFi (although not in the correct order)...that's at least a place to sign up and log on!

You and many others at FFF may be right about Sci-Fi Channel being the ones to bring back a new Firefly series, and I'd be very happy & grateful for that.....however, I don't think they will and personally I really don't like that channel.

They produce and air nothing but crap! Their movies are childish ( monsters & dinosaurs mostly...throw in some so-called supernatural horseshit 'bout Bigfoot, etc...and voila...you got the Sci Fi Channel.

Also. their commercial insertions are quite over the top...they've taken 49 minute Outer Limits episodes and cut them down to 41-42 minutes so they can shove the floating wheelcahir ad at us 14 times a show, and don't forget the 97 1/2 Life Alert spots too.

Sometimes I think Sci Fi channel is run by a bunch of 10 year-olds who just tease us hardcore fans with a tiny smattering of all the great material that's out there for the last 40 years...and I'm sorry, don't want to or mean to offend...but Battlestar & all the Stargates are BORING and un-watchable to me. Packaged, predictable, and with characters I could care less about.....heck, the Fed from the Serenity pilot was a better character than any of these dumb shows have.

I'm hoping that Joss and gang will find another home for the Firefly BDH's too, but preferably a mini-series on HBO or FX.

"What y'all order a dead guy for?"

I wouldn't be so tough on SciFi. Plenty of us here (including me) like BSG and Dr. Who, and while the commercial breakages are annoying as hell, it's a small price to pay. And SciFi (unlike F*X or HBO) seems interested. Look at how many marathons they've aired--they're practically begging for a written campaign. They have the cash, and God knows they have the space (have you seen how many times they re-air episodes of BSG?), and Universal, which owns the Serenity rights, also owns SciFi.

So I'm on your page, RogueModel.

EDIT: Small note to Jongsstraw: F*X seems unlikely for miniseries hopes, as Joss has sworn up and down and sideways he'll never work with them again.

Hey MartianWay

I was talking about FX, not Fox. Is FX owned by Fox? If so...oooops! I know Joss hates Fox for what they did to him and Firefly. And as far as Sci Fi channel...like I said, I did not mean to offend any fans of their shows, it's just my little opinion.

I hoped that HBO's many showings of Serenity this year might have generated letters and buzz there for more Serenity, but I'm really not in the know on such things....I mean I'm losing The Sopranos this year...can't they give us " Big Damn Heroes, the series?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL BROWNCOATS!

Okay, where do us browncoats go? Do they have a community or something? I'm willing to write a letter if it might get Firefly back!

FX is owned by F*X (FX is short for F*X Extended Network) which is a pity because I'd consider it a possibility if it wasn't; it has a couple good shows.

No offense taken, just being a little-er-defensive. Basically that post started as a "just because SciFi may do some crappy shows doesn't mean it should be pushed off the table" and ended in a defense of SciFi. I still think SciFi's the best choice though, for reasons stated above.

I know almost nada about HBO, except that they showed Serenity a couple times. Never even saw Sopranos. Still, I'd pick SciFi over them, mostly because Universal has the rights.

SciFi Channel has forums for all their shows over on the Skiffy board.. here's the link:

http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?act=idx

A lot of us here on FFF.net are members over there and post all the time. You'll see the Firefly board a little ways down the page listed in the shows airing now ( interesting .. that is!).
There is indeed a thread there for begging SciFi to bring back the series or make a miniseries or something!

I think it's a good idea generally to have a membership over there and to post often on the Firefly board over there. Their boards are admin'd.. someone will notice how many there are of us. Right now.. not so many.. but there could be a swarm of us if everyone signed up and posted over there.

I wanted to bring your attention to a campaign that is ongoing right now to contact SciFi. There is a letter writing campaign to try to interest SciFi in airing the original Firefly eps as a summer series with commentary and introductions by the cast members or Joss or Tim. Here is that thread if you'd like to take part:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=20&t=26016

The hope is sincerely to enjoy the eps when they air them, but also to garner new members of the Browncoats by the viewing and attendant attention the eps get and also to show SciFi how interested we are, what our numbers are and how much they and we would benefit by more.

What's the title of the begging thread on Scifi? I went and got my membership, and I voted on a poll there about whether or not to cancel BSG and reinstate Firefly (there's an option for both shows to coexist with each other, no black-or-white votes here), and looked through all 4 pages of threads, but can't find the begging thread!

Thank you Avalonsmommy for joining over there.

I think a presence over there is a good thing and I love the board and the folks over there. They're very friendly and very passionate about the fandom and FF/S.

The thread is called "SciFi Hear Us!" and here's the link:

Again.. thank you for doing this!

I never understood why Sci-Fi Channel could afford to produce the shows that they do, yet couldn't (or wouldn't) do the same for ANGEL or FIREFLY. Now that it's been several years and most everyone's moved on to other full-time projects, I don't see how it's possible. Even if everyone's current shows get cancelled, Nathan's hasn't even started yet, and I don't see a show without the Captain.

Hehe... thought I should tell you, though, look at some of the other forum descriptions, and then look at Firefly's... it's a sad.... saaAAAAAd thing. But at least we have one.

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.
