You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

I must be F'ing crazy to think there is someone in this gorram valley that can be what I'm looking for. But where do I find a semi athletic young woman that likes guns. beer, and barbrque, can sing or write or dance, likes to work, and loves or is open to Firefly?

I don't recall being guilty of this conduct, but I can't say it's a completely foreign notion. Were it me, I'd say my reasons were this: I get along better with guys. I have more guy friends than chick friends. Once a non-friend girl is introduced into the mix, I note a tendency for the guys to ignore the friends (both male and female) in pursuit of the non-friend girl (henceforth known as NFG). That's something that happens on both sides of the gender coin, true enough. But chicks, I think, are better at throwing the "no interference" flag at the other NFG in attempt to preserve their friendships. Guys, not so much. Once the NFG is established as just a chick friend, I imagine the flirting and territory-marking would stop. (Does that make sense at all? I got about 4 hours' sleep...)
