Greetings, folks! Today is a very special day for the crew over at www.stillflying.net. Our newest episode, “Confluence,” airs today (head on over to the site and read it!), but this is also the one year anniversary of our first episode.

Yep, we’ve been flying hard for a year. With 21 episodes under our collective belts, we’ve now got more than a THOUSAND pages of Firefly script to share with y’all! We hope that those of you who haven’t been along for the ride will stop by and pay a visit.

For those of you who are not familiar with our project, Still Flying is a fan-based site dedicated to a "virtual continuation" of Joss Whedon's "Firefly" in the form of scripts of additional episodes. We've rounded out Season One, completing it with seven new episodes (including a season finale based on "Serenity: Those Left Behind" from Dark Horse Comics).

Season Two is dedicated to exploring the question, "What would things have been like if Joss Whedon had been able to tell the story of Serenity in 22 episodes rather than 2 hours?" Our story will take you to most of the same places the movie does, but the path along the way will be a little different, and a lot longer.

With 14 of Season Two’s 22 episodes behind us, we’ve seen some old friends and more than a few old enemies. We can't promise that we'll entertain you as much as Mister Whedon would have, but you should know that this project has been put together by those who care about the show, and we're taking this bird up out of love.

Like most Browncoats, we know that Whedon will return to us with another movie, book, or some other way to continue the tale he started in "Firefly." Until that time, we'll be here. We will hold the line.

We can't show you exactly how Joss Whedon would've done it, but we can tell you...

"Here's how it might have been..."

First of all, just want to say Happy 1st Birthday! And second, wow! Congratulations on the newest episodes! I just finished reading The Breathing and Confluence and both were "just edge of my seat" stories. I loved how the stories integrated the River Tam sessions. I've heard of them being mentioned before but didn't know that it was something that Joss and Summer actually filmed.

Great work you guys! Look forward to reading more episodes!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm sure D.C. (who wrote both "The Breathing" and "Confluence") is quite happy with the reception both episodes have gotten!

Just finished reading Confluence...I didn't expect it to be posted so quickly after last weeks post.

A few things I liked:
The reintroduction of the lucid maintenance medication and its use as a retrieval tool (I'm guessing it is highly addictive and difficult to reproduce) was BRILLANT....Mal's, Simon's, and Jayne's reaction to it was comical (in the "huh?" way) all the while adding another layer to their predicament. Simon watching the sessions is as tragic as Mal watching that stupid vid of Inara in the BDM...and speaking of Inara, her story line was unexpected (I like that) and of course her greatest weakness is living in denial which played out nicely here because now she's caught up in a big ass trap!

Whew! Anyway, thanks for writing these, they obviously take time and for those of you that are reading this... go and read. Happy 1st to all

Thanks for the kind words!

With respect to schedule, what we're TRYING to do is post in batches of 4-6 episodes on a weekly basis, then take off a few weeks to get another batch ready (not unlike some "real" TV shows) rather than trickling out an an irregular basis.

Having said that, we'll be "airing" new CONTENT, but not a new episode this coming week (writer commentary for our original two episodes), and will probably do something similar the week after. We are, however, hard at work editing our next two episodes, so you guys will see them in early January.

Your work is great and I'm more than impressed at the scale of the effort, the box designs and the story ideas.

I'm thinking we'll rise again.

Hi, folks. No new episode from us this week, but we have some new CONTENT in the form of a "virtual DVD bonus feature." We've added some crew commentary for our first two episodes, "The Big Stick" (Head Writer commentary) and "Hero Complex" (Head Writer and Writer commentary). For those who are interested, this commentary offers a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes as we put these episodes together.

You can find the commentary here:

Wow. We made the headlines. That's very cool!

Since we're up here, I wanted to take the opportunity to say "If you read this and you don't know about us, I hope you'll check us out!"

Our earliest episode (picking up right after "Objects in Space") can be found by clicking on Seasons, then opening the Season One Box, then loading the first disk.

You can also just click right here...

...but you'll miss some cool stuff that way.

Keep flying!

With a new comic on the way, the Sci Fi Channel trying out more and more new shows, and many sci fi franchises (BSG, Stargate, and Babylon 5) doing direct to DVD movies, I think it won't be too long before a direct-to-DVD Firefly/Serenity flick.

Until then, we're here to hold the line and keep y'all entertained.
