does anyone think its kinda sad how Tudyk never got a big break in acting, i was watching the dvds today and notice that his facial(sp) expressions are amazing(Our Mrs Reynolds is a nice thing to look at to notice this when Saffron was seducing him). i kinda found the same thing with the guy who played Lorne(too lazy to look up real name) on Angel. anyone agree?

He's a working actor.

He did the voice of the robot for I Robot-I'd never have known it unless I had been told earlier.

He was in a Knight's tale, took over for Hank Azeriea on Broadway in Spamalot, Ice Age,Dodgeball etc and has 2 movies in post production and he's currently filming one.

I lincluded a link to his page at imdb.com

I saw Dodgeball before I ever heard of Alan and Firefly, and I remember thinking how terrific " that guy" who played the pirate was.

When I saw Firelfy I didn't even realize it was the same actor...a true testimonial to his phenomenal acting abilities.

Aarrgh!

Not just the voice, he did the whole motion/performance capture. On the DVD documentary of the making of the film, you see him in one of those suits with the ping-pong balls stuck all over it, and there's also a bit with a side-by side comparison with Alan's face/Sonny's face in that Andy Serkis/Gollum mode of things.

I first noticed Alan in the movie 28 days with Sandra Bullock. His character really stood out and I have to admit reminded me of my father's side of the family....German and emotional.
I didn't know his name at that time.
Friends and I planned a trip to NYC and I insisted on seeing Spamalot not knowing Alan was in it. I was so excited and after the play hung out by the stage door for an autograph and picture. What a cutie.

Everybodies makin' a fuss.

I wouldn't say he has never gotten a big break. Maybe he's not widely known, but he is someone that people remember. When Ifirst started watching Firefly, Alan was one of the only actors I knew from other work (besides Gina). It was one of the things that initially drew me to the series.

I would actually say that he's done pretty well in comparison to some of the other Firefly stars.
He was great in Dodgeball...Steve the pirate is probably one of the best characters in that movie! He's also guest starred on a couple different shows, and done some other movies...I really don't think that he's a total loser.

Same thing here -- I was a big Gina fan!

AM I the only one here that thinks Alan is cute? Come on, guys, admit it!

He hasn't become a big name,
but he has worked with some fine actors both on screen and on stage,
he was in Spamalot on Broadway...

I think he has a good career going and it will probably keep getting better!

And he is soooo sweet, I got to meet him at the Browncoat Backup Bash

Actually, all of the actors from the show/movie have relatively steady jobs compared to a lot of character actors from other movies or shows. Success in Hollywood is not measured on the same scale as you or me. In addition to their on-screen credits, a lot of them do local plays, try their hand at Broadway and off-Broadway.

If you look at some of the "regulars" from, say, most of the Star Trek franchises I think you'll find our BDH are holding their own.

Also, in a perverted sort of way, we want them to kinda keep their calendars open so they can be available in the event Universal comes to their senses and decide to do a sequel to the movie...

In the meantime, here's hoping they ALL continue to get good steady work in Hollywood for as long as the want it.

Thanks for the link! Alan did voice in Ice Age? Cool! Have to watch that again. I didn't realize that Alan was also in Knight's Tale until you guys mentioned it. I had to break out my DVD and now I remember that I really enjoyed his character in that movie. His accent was pretty good. I originally thought he was an English actor.

Here's my washie in Ice Age II (Its very short, unlike the first one where he was on for like five minutes). I didn't recognise him at first. Sadly he was listed at the very end of the credits ... and my dads all like CAUSE ALL YOUR FIREFLY ACTORS MUST SUCK and I hit him.

Also he's in Arrested Development for an Episode as Ann's (George-Michaels girlfriend) father Pastor Veal. And he is hilarious. I got such a jump/shock when i saw him I yelled out "Hey, Its Wash!!!" despite the fact that there were several other people in the room (none of whom had seen Firefly) and they thought I was a nutjob. But compared to most actors he's been in tons of stuff.

He's one of those actors who will always be around because he's so versitle. I love him as Wash, but I think his work in 28 Days is really my favorite comedic role of his to date.

Firefly and Serenity were both great for him because he got to show his talent for both comedy and drama. I'd really like to see him in larger roles in the future!

I agree with Embers. He's worked some and has work lined up. The movie he's working on now looks interesting.

He's so good, he'll not have any trouble finding work and keeping us entertained for a long time.

And he is sweet! I didn't get to meet him and talk to him, but I got to be around him a bit and he was so funny and kind. He dashed past me out of the bar at the Hilton and for a second I didn't know who he was, then realized..."That's Alan!!". He was very funny while the AN'ers were giving our book to Nathan and kept us all in stitches. He and Nathan are very funny together, you can tell they are close friends.

And I think Alan is cute too!

It was freakin' hilarious last year at Dragon*Con when Nathan called Alan in the middle of a Q&A session! They both are so funny, and even more so when together.

My favorite commentary in the Firefly box set is for War Stories. Nathan and Alan did the commentary together. By themselves they are very funny, but together they are hilarious. Nathan would repeatedly say "Wow this is a great show. Why did it get cancelled?" Alan would make a sarcastic comment about the air time being better filled with a game show or reality TV. I love Joss' commentary of Serenity, but I wish there was an alternate commentary track with them two.

Gerhardt is my favorite. I attended a test screening of Death At A Funeral. Alan continues to shine!

Ole Alan Tudyk has gig with Russel Crowe in the new remake of the classic American Western 3:10 to Yuma. His part is Doc Potter sometime this year fall I guess.
