Hey,

I was just talking to this incredibly hot girl I like right and, what with me being a huge sci-fi geek, She said something about getting a job or something to which I replied with "Shiney".

She then asked what that meant and I just sort of said it was from this sci-fi tv show called firefly and a movie called serenity, thinking that after I said that, she would just sort of go "Urgh, this guy is such a geek" and all that jazz... But she didn't...

She said "Oh my god I love that movie, it's so cool ! Have you got the T.V show because I really want to see it but never had the cash on me to buy it ! it looks so good"

..... Wow.... Well, I'm happy... Just thought I would tell y'all that...

You're very fortunate that the girl even asked you what the reference meant. I say shiny sometimes at work or out in the world, and people have no clue what I said....they will nod like they do, but they really don't.
