*waves to everyone*
Hope everyone's week is going better than mine is. (Is it over yet? Whaddaya mean it's been more than a week since January 12?!)

I'd vote for calling a Kona-Intraveneous, but that's just me trying to drum up more support for where I live. *tries to hypnotize folks into buying US grown caffiene instead*

So what's everyone got planned for the weekend? Can you tell I'm really really looking forward to Friday:)

Really MsG? Nope, couldn't tell.
There's supposed to be the first carnival for the year this weekend, and I'm hoping that I'll carve out enough time to go to it (if only to go to the white elephant...gotta love the private school's "white elephant" they sell silks and whatnots for cheap!) I can do my annual "fine clothing shopping" this weekend.

Mav- Hey could be worse, could be New York , California etc...though I know what you mean. We just had our house appraise at double what we paid 6 years ago and we realized that right now, we couldn't afford to buy our house. I blame California. All these people from California keep moving to our state all excited because with the money they got for their 4 room hovel in Cali( which is about $700,000) they can get a really nice house with 5 or 6 bedrooms here. So they come and drive the price up. I am sulking 'cause I want this house in my mom's neighborhood and it went up to 550,000 so now we can't afford it. Last year when they were thinking of selling they were only asking $350,000 and we could have gotten it, but now it's out of our range...SULK!!! It had a guest house and everything. I always wanted a guest house ( especially after last weekend)so I could have guest without having them in my actual house.
Ok this is a way longer post than I meant it to be

Mavs...*boggles* $2.25 per gallon for regular unleaded?! I'll trade you. Gas here is $2.68 a gallon on average where I am -- the neighbor islands are probably at $3.00+ a gallon.
Bah...$700K for a 3-4 bedroom home (if it's in town) is cheap. The only places that are cheaper than that cost more in drive-time.@
...Heck, nearly everything here is more expensive.
Things are getting "interesting" (and yes, I'm using Wash's definition: "Oh god, oh god. We're all gonna die." at work. State assessment (amongst other things) is probably going to eat up my life (along with the new principal's desire to manage things a bit more on the micro- side), so *meh*. Don't know how often I'll post, and I apologize in advance for anything taken as me being extremely snarky.

@Miles-wise, I'm sure that it's relatively close, but I know of friends and co-workers who wake up and leave their homes 3 to 4 hours before work in order to make it in on time (yep, that's a normal rush hour...I know of a couple of major incidents where some folks were in traffic for so long that by the time they got home, it was time for them to turn around and drive back to work.)
Have a good evening folk, hope to see you soon.

Someone moved the Bermuda Triangle to another Ocean? Why am I always the last to hear about these things??

As for the cost of living, it's all a matter of expectations. Sure Mavs can sell pieces of furniture that are more than some of our annual adjusted gross incomes, but I furnished most of our first apartment from the dumpster. And proud of the fact, too.

That said may I present, two equally satisfying solutions to the housing problem, at least to the respective owners.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

So here I am, awake again, a little less frustrated but not a lot. Indeed there do seem to be some willing volunteers; never said there weren't, but I only want one of 'em

Oh, that baby! That's me kissing your widdle boo boo to make it better!

Devil's Sea, eh? I'll have to read up on that.

Er, well, at least you're a little less frustrated, if sleepless. That's something...As to the suitors, I know there can be only one, but it's always nice to know there's interest.

Why am I awake? Well, I had to let the dogs out amd my FFF addiction got the best of me. There's no hope.

MAVOURNEEN

Morning, Imponderable Cooler.

Rose...those Altoids are to die for. Husband and I went by a drugstore after our meeting with Tidbit's teacher (and he got a GREAT report card!) and I saw the mints.

Chocolate covered cinnamon Altoids. Simply wonderful!

(I don't know what it is about baby feet but they just make me smile! So cute, and perfect. I love that pic. I used to munch on Tidbit's toes so long ago...now they are just stinky boy feet. Times they are a changin'.)

-Neko, of all the people on this board, you have the right to complain about prices - everything in Hawaii is outrageously expensive. I know people who moved there and came back within 2 years because they simply couldn't afford it anymore. Beautiful locale, painfully expensive. I guess that's because everything has to be brought over by ship?
