.. nobody sends us cookies.. sniff.

Our interoffice mail only goes when there's somebody going out that way anyhow so they'd get all stale.

We'll not be seeing the far side of twenty for about five days. That is not including wind. Brr.

Hey, we're above zero, it's February, I'm good with that.

Just popping in to say hi... It's 72 degrees and sunny here right now, and I'm trying to pull hubby away from World of Warcraft so we can go for a walk and enjoy the weather before the sun sets (we have a low of 45F tonight). Course, with a high of 80 tomorrow, we should be able to get some weather-enjoyin' in tomorrow as well.

K, I'll stop bragging now. Hugs to everyone!

"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

Degrees this, minus that, wind chill, Bah! It means nothing. Here is how you tell how cold it is. Yesterday was the kind of day where you walk to the parking structure and once safely in your cold but warmer than outside car, you immediately start thinking about stopping for fast food on the way home, not because you're hungry but because have a desperate need of something with which to wipe your nose besides your sleeve (because you're not three anymore), and the price of a hamburger doesn't seem to great a price for that.

Today was a day where your eyeballs freeze and it hurts to breathe and you are reminded of parts of your body that your don't think about but once or twice a year, and your one side pities the other side until the return trip (from wherever) when the role reverse, and you pray the foxhole prayers of your forefathers, making promises to a god you only believe in when you need to that your car doesn't die on the road because you will die with it; but not suddenly like the car, but slowly, agonizingly, as you feel your individual bits all go numb and fall off.

That how you tell the temperature.

"Well, here I am...Does that seem right to you?"

And now for something completely different.

Full-figured bras are expensive

It's a balmy 19°F in beautiful, fog-cloaked Loveland right now. And it's supposed to get above freezing again! Sure hope the sun can make it through all the cloud and fog and stuff. It is what would very correctly be referred to as 'a gray day'.

DUG

Back when I only had a motorcycle for getting around I had a temperature system that was initially based on how many pounds of gear I had to strap on to survive the freakin' ride to work.

The poundage system maxed out at 35 pounds, then later I moved a few miles farther north (Greeneville, SC). That's a bit higher and just a few important degrees colder than here, so I had to add to the system. After the poundage maxed out I measured how bad the nosebleed was from my frozen sinuses.

Then I started riding the bus a lot more, too.

And, here in Canada, it's a balmy -10 degrees. Celcius. That'd be... oh... -20 or so in F, and with the wind chill, it can hit -30 with ease. Have I mentioned I hate the cold?

-10C is actually closer to 14F (remember, freezing is at the totally random 32F, so below zero in F is colder than in C until you get to -40, which is the exact same on both scales) Still bloody cold, especially with the windchill I'd send you warm thoughts if I had any to spare.

WHITEFALL

Just thought I'd pop in to say hi, and maybe gloat about the temperature.... ok i dont know what it is, but its sunny and stuff here in california, as CK so nicely mentioned. Of course i'm inside doing homework as always, but thats not the point.

Now, CK, i have a confession to make: i actually play WoW.... *shudders*. A friend of mine who kept moving high schools still plays it, so its my way of staying in contact with her (though she lives pitifully close to me, compared to those on this board) and having something in common. Its a decent game, but my priorities remain firmly with theater and school, and WoW being a free-time hog.

Let me think, is there anything I could say to make your silly can't-be-pulled-away-from-the expansion husband come to his senses? I speak WoW-ese, don't I? Try these handy phrases:

"Level seventy will still be there when you get back!"

or

"Tell your group that you have 'wife aggro'. They'll understand."

And the more threatening:

"Log off now, or I'll log onto your character when you're asleep and destroy your armor!"

or

"See the plug going into this router? Go back to the inn now, or I'll pull the plug and your character won't get rest experience!" (trust me, this does mean something)

In other news, I got accepted to UC riverside... creative writing major, and they offered me a scholarship that'll pretty much cover tuition. Not gonna decide anything until i get answers from the other UCs in april, but... blah i've heard riverside is a dump, and that going to UCR would actually be less challenging than my AP classes in high school. Descisions suck.

Yup, 82F out right now, and just got back from our daily walk. Gunna be barbequing later today, too.

PR, bras that fit are great, aren't they?! Expensive, but I've found I go through fewer now that I know what fits.

Lol, Whitefall, I actually play WoW a lot too. I hit 64 yesterday, and might get 65 tonight, depending on how much the Super Bowl draws me in. Hubby made 70 last night, and the "pulling him away" issue was that he only had four or five bubs left to 70 at that point, and *really* didn't want to get up from the computer, hehe. We're both big gamers, and so we play WoW and other games together a lot, so I don't tend to "wife aggro" very often, lol. We actually bought a big dining room table (with no chairs!) a few years back, to use as a computer desk for both of us, so we can play sitting side by side. It's a nice arrangement.

lol, CK, I remember you saying that long ago, I just wasnt sure if it was all still true, as you seem to be more often on the recieving end of the "hubby plays too much wow" thing. My gnome warrior (two feet of pure gnomish power!!!!) appropriately named Browncoat is... well, at 63. And i'll get 70 someday lol. (theater > WoW, always.)

It's fun, but its kinda eeeevvviiiillll. I've seriously considered (still debating) whether to take any games with me to college at all: creative writing, no matter what i end up doing with it, needs all the time i can give to it.

Yeah I know what you mean, Whitefall, it can be eeevvviiilll, lol. Thankfully we both just have work, so as long as we aren't calling in sick, or forgetting to buy groceries, or not getting enough sleep, it's fine. One of my sisters who is out at college plays as well, which is nice because I only really get to see her at Christmas, so at least this way we get to hang out in-game every now and then.

I've been to UC Riverside a couple of times, though it's been a few years. It's not such a bad place, though I don't think it has the best location of all the UCs. Congrats on the scholarship though, that's very cool! You could always start at UC Riverside and transfer to another UC after that (especially if the classes are pretty easy, since then you can carry a high GPA) -- both UCLA and UC Irvine aren't too far from there. I definitely understand the question about bringing any games with you to college (my husband says leaving WoW at home is a good idea if you actually want to graduate!), but otoh, have you given any thought to using a creative writing degree to write for video games?

Btw, hubby plays a gnome rogue and I play a human warrior, so I'm with you on both fronts. Oh, and have you given any thought to playing the Firefly MMOG once it comes out?

Thanks CK... the thing with me and riverside is i'm... well to be honest i'm overqualified to go there. But on the other hand, with this scholarship, it'll be much cheaper..... blah i dont know.

The degree.... i still dont know what to do with it. I refuse to deliberately major in math or engineering or, heaven forbid, business. So here i am gonna major in creative writing, or if i go elsewhere, english, or film studies,or playwriting.

If i can get any job post college that isnt either flipping burgers or accounting or whatnot, i'll take it. and yes i had thought of writing for video games.

Whooo Mav sounds like an amazing birthday and I can think of no one who deserves it more!!

Whitefall and CK I laughed so hard at the WoW chat. MisterG is a major Wow guy and though he seldom gets wife aggro it does happen. Mostly he's pretty good about logging off when I need him to:)

PR- HUGS and happy for you. Personal fav is the Victoria's secret Ipex ( which does come in DD cups if you order from the catalog, they never have it in my size in store) it fits really well and has cute matching panties:)

CK- stop rubbing it in~! We're freezing here. Actually today I may not be freezing as it plans to get a whole 8 degrees above freezing for the high.

Jonny- ok so here's my list

Fictional guys I have a crush on
1- Wolverine
2-Snape ( don't ask long story)
3-Roarke
4-Hawke ( Spenser for Hire)
5- Jayne

Non Fiction
1- Sean Bean
2- Alan Rickman ( which is why I have a thing for Snape
3-Frank Langella ( his Dracula is incredible)
4- Tony Todd ( guy who plays Candyman)
5- Thomas Jane

Yes I am aware that there isn't a single guy on that list under 45. Yes I know I'm 33... I have a thing for older guys

Does the ipex have a wire? Can't abide wires. I was assured that with the proper fit they would be comfy, but even when I tried on the DDD and was swimming in the cup, the wire bit at my ribs. Dunno if it's the short waist or the high sensitivity, but I couldn't stand it.
Of course the wireless DDs were the most expensive bras in the gorramn store. Thanks for the gift card, grandma!!
Forgot about listing crushes. Let's see here...
No particular order:
John Rzeznik
Amy Lee
Jon Bon Jovi
Summer Glau
Gina Torres
Sean Maher
Alan Tudyk
Kierra Knightly (when she's got some curve to her; not recently)

Crushes of the past:
Darren Hayes
Gillian Anderson
David Duchovny
Ricky Martin
Will Smith
Shakira

That's all that comes to mind at the mo'.

Yes PR I am right with you on the wireless. They have both wire and no wire and their no wire is the most comfy ever!

Mav- yes try the catalog. Since the average woman is a B or C they don't carry a lot of the larger sizes, but the catalog does and the Ipex rocks!!! It manages to do the whole coverage thing without the annoyance of excess padding and lets face it the last thing you, PR, Magda, and I need is extra padding in that area. "Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

Hello, Odds, PR, CK, JTD, and Whitefall. I think that's everybody at the moment even though most of that moment seems to have been last night.

Whitefall - Here's my unsolicited

When it comes to education--higher ed especially--I find that the caliber of the school is secondary to the caliber of the student. You get back exactly what you put into it. Sounds like you are properly motivated so that shouldn't be an issue. Now the real KEY is the instructors. (nods to MsG and all the rest of you fine Browncoats in the profession) The university you go to is no guarantee of the caliber (seem to like that word today; must be thinking of NVG or something...) of the instruction you will receive.

If you are going to school for the prestige attached to the Brand Name that's one thing. Sadly, that does open doors sometimes that would otherwise be closed upon graduation. If, on the other hand, you are there to learn, as the case here seems to be, wherever you end up you will find your mentor, or they will find you. You won't be able to hide your shine if you truly have it.

I work in the Registrar's office at the University of Michigan and--past Rose Bowl issues aside--I just want to let you know so you can go in with your eyes wide open: some of the premiere students in their respective fields attend here, and I have seen students here that I wonder how they graduated kindergarten. I'm talking graduate students in some cases. I don't how they made in, I don't know how they'll make though, I don't know how they'll survive after they're out.

If you put yourself into, you get your reward, no matter where you go. Just make sure the school you choose has what you want. And you don't have to decide your destiny your first couple of years in anyway.

Sorry to go on like that but those that know me are snickering in the background right now. This is actually a short post...

Oh, yeah, Screw your warm weather, , mr !!

I eated my own response. God I hate it when that happens. Must be the bust fluster. I'm playing hookey today and will soon be napping (if I can after all this. (Penguins are very sensitive to becoming over-heated. Fanning is a good idea idea, but you might want to get him some ice, if the conversation continues.)

I did say I was glad that Mavs had a wonderful birthday. Then there was some mumbling about ipod, ipex, wireless being a kind of radio, never got "padding for the already sufficiently and then some enedowed (like putting a codpiece in a perfectly well placed sock) and swimming around in PR's bra...wait, what?

And trying yet again to drive the image of MsG's matching flimsies from my head and failing. (Darn!!)

MsG: MsQ was entranced by Frank Langella ( his Dracula is incredible)
The similarities continue to mount.

PR: X-File double header made me smirk. (What only a double X rating?)
Will Smith, MsQ, too.
Shakira, JQ, too. If I ever was inclined to believe in magic, I would cite her as evidence: NO human can move like that. (Jessica Alba did alright in Sin City, but that was slo-mo. What Shakira does is...shakirier. Damn. Didn't mean to go all tangental.

Mavs: Your list at least most of it was ripped straight from MsQ's! (Watch out, MsG, you may have competition here.) Kiefer Sutherland, Val Kilmer, George Clooney. Of coure she also likes Mr. Clooney's replacement on ER, Goran Visnjic.

Now, about Sean Bean and Alan Rickman...what's the deal here? Not the first time I've heard either of these names on this site...

They're the only ones who did anything for me. The show sucked on many levels after they pretty much weren't the cast anymore. I was such an X-phile, you have no idea how heartbroken I was that it jumped the shark. And then jumped it again. And again. And again....

*edit* And you know, now I think on it, I still have a mild crush on Will Smith.... And Shakira.....

RUGBUG

Seems like I've been outta the world for a while, but I guess it's just a few days. Been enjoying the amazing CA weather...but with reservation. We NEED some rain. I hate the rain...I hate the mud it brings...but it's needed.

Whitefall: One very important thing to consider about your college: How are you going to pay for it? If you don't get scholarships, etc...will it be loans or are your parents going to be able to pay? Combination, perhaps? Be strapped with huge college loans can be very difficult. A college degree at this point won't get you much except a chance...and you usually need to take that chance to get more education. Having to pay off loans in a low level entry position b/c you only have a BA can be difficult. A full scholarship is nothing to sneeze at.

Fictional Crushes:
1. Mal
2. Mulder
3. Aragorn
4. Max (not going to identify the show...it's a tad embarrassing)
5. Angel: the early years
Honorable Mention: Wesley: the later years

Mavs: Sounds like the birthday was very nice. Good on your family for making it so. We all deserve to be doted on every once in a while.

Bras simply do not come in the industrial strength we the endowed need unless you buy some contraption that looks like Mamie Eisenhower wore it. Not sexy. At all.

Looking forward to getting a halfway sexy bra for the twins. To the Internet!

Sean Bean (in the Sharpe series) does for me what Viggo Mortensen does for some women from LOTR. Dirty, rugged, tough but tender. (But I like Viggo from 28 days - nummy.)

LOL Jonny:)

OK as for Sean Bean he's tough, smart, funny, sweet, aggressive in his protection of others, a great dad, has a gorgeous body and terrific eyes, is tremendously loyal and an all around good guy who's still one heck of a warrior.

Alan Rickman- because anyone who can make evil that elegant and seductive deserves makes me swoon!!

Oh and I forgot to add Mark Harmon to my real guys list. He's been married over 20 years to the same woman and he's a great dad. Plus he's a true hero and really modest about it. Last year some teenagers crashed their car into his year and it caught fire. He ran to his shed grabbed a hammer, smashed the car window, dragged the kids to safety and performed CPR until medics arrived. he tried to keep his name out of it and when it came out he said " Anyone would have done the same" and didn't want to talk about it:)

JAMESTHEDARK

I'm just going to stay clear of the bra-talk. No good can come of it for me

For crushes, Summer/River tops the list. A dancer like that is seldom come by, and one who could kick me in the back of the head while standing in front of me is harder still.
The next one (this one real) is Michelle Trachtenburg. She's so extraordinarily cute. The only problem is that she's cast so young so often. That almost makes it creepy.
After that, it's Willow (from Buffy). I can identify with her in a lot of ways, and how can you go wrong with an awkward but sweet girl-next-door? This, of course, is before she switched teams

As for Alan Rickman and Sean Bean, I can completely understand you lady's fluttering over them. They have an unmistakable presence about them, something which makes them seem larger than life which they project in everything they do. That, and Rickman has the outrageous accent! Who else could turn a character like Snape into a hearthrob? If I were a woman or of that inclination, I imagine I'd lust for them, too.

Anyway, I'm just going to go over there, now...

NVGHOSTRIDER

Good Monday morning all. Just poppin' in all quick like. Sorry about not responding JQ, I didn't see you post before I left. And of course you can't get a clear picture of me. I'm all elusive and of the secretive sort. No pictures allowed.

As for the child hood crushes, I have to say:
1.Crystal Gayle
2.Caroline Ingalls
3.Wonder Woman (not just Linda Carter)
4.The teacher next door in the second grade (Ms. Jones I think)
5.Dolly Parton.

Okay. I've always loved the Dark haired sort. And I was in love with Dolly Parton's voice for years before I actually saw what she looked like. And even she'll tell you the she ain't dumb and she definately ain't blonde.
