Sure it's grim, but they all moved on to other projects before the series and the movie too. I'll never give up totally. It's what keeps me going. It's what got us a FIREFLY movie at all and BUFFY Season 8 (in comic form).

SISTER

..Ya gotta choose...hope or despair...joy or sorrow...belief or resignation. I have read several 'differing' opinions on 'who owns the rights' to Firefly (the oh, so brief glimpse into what 'coulda been, best tv show of all time)... some insist Fox still owns it; others say Fox gave the rights to Joss after they canceled it so he try and find another home network.. I've read that Joss has said "I don't even know who owns the rights (to Firefly) anymore." I have read that the actor's all signed contracts to do a sequel to Serenity and that those contracts expire in the fall of this year...That is what I've read. What I choose to believe is that - with every new week there are more of us, and someone's gotta pick up on that; Firefly DVD sales have been in the top 100 on Amazon for years...and someone's gotta pick up on that, too. So I'm gonna go with the hope/belief that someday there will be joy.

I'm with SISTER on this too!

We hold till Mal gets back!

There are more ways for the 'verse to come back now then there were before. We've still got sequel possibilities. We've got Direct to DVD possibilities. We got Sci-Fi channel movie like episode possibilities. We got direct download possibilities.

The thing is Joss and all the actors still want this too!

The more people see of our Big Darn Heroes' work and the boss's work, the more people want to see their work.

Keep spreading Firefly/Serenity. And Drive. And Goners. And everything else.

And don't forget fans are arranging Charity Serenity Screenings for June 2007. see http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/

42 cities so far! 8 countries!

And there is another Serenity comic coming out in 2007 Serenity: Better Days. Tells the story of what happens when a job goes smooth.

SERENITYSEEKER

Just a quick message of hope to go along with all this. I don't know how many of you have seen the movie The Boondock Saints, but IMHO, it's a great movie. Well, for the past few years, the fans of the movie, such as myself, had been holding out for a sequel. It didn't look good b/c the company that held the rights to the movie wouldn't relinquish them. Mind you, this movie came out in 1999 and met A LOT of critical backlash. But the fans kept fighting and so did the director. And now, the director recently announced that he had gained the rights to the movie, was in the process of getting a production company to pick them up and the sequel will be coming soon. Think about that, nearly eight years after a movie's release and it's going to have a sequel. And why? Because the fans helped fight for it. So fellow Browncoats, I offer that word of encouragement. No matter how dark or farfetched it may seem that we will see our beloved crew again, there is always hope. Keep fighting for it gang and

Keep flyin'.

Another way to look at it is that as the actors find other work and get more famous, then making more Firefly/Serenity will become a much more attractive business venture.

The more well known our awesome crew is, the more bankable they will be. And even if many of them are involved in TV series, they can still arrange their schedules to make movies. TV actors do it all the time.

We hold.

Didn't I read somewhere they all signed for a 3 picture deal before the BDM? Or is that null and void now? I'm sure they would do another movie(if the show up for a cancelled convention, surely they'll do a movie).

Its good their getting work.

They need to more well known.

Its all about the timing.

I took 3 years for us to get Serenity. It should tak e that long to get more.

Amazon sales of Firefly are still amazing.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Sure it looks grim. Hell, that is part of being a browncoat. Facing down grim and overwhelming odds, laughing in their face and not letting your resolve waiver. NO MATTER WHAT!

Things looked grim when Fox aired our show out of order, and the browncoats held the line. Things looked grim when Fox put the show on "hiatus", but we held the line. Thing were very grim when Fox cancelled the show, but still we held the line.

The browncoats didn't lie down and die when Joss couldn't find another network to take the show. We didn't allow the shortsighted vision of network execs to run us off. We held! If not for our resolve and our efforts there would never have been the dvd set we all enjoy now and used to expand the fanbase. If we had given up there never would have been the BDM! If not for our faith there would be no comics, Visual Companion, trading cards, sites like this one, or an hope.

That quote for the movie sums it up for me. I just know that Joss put that part in at the end of the movie for himself, and for the browncoats, as much as because it was fitting for the film.

We have to have faith and hold on to that love we feel for this 'verse, these characters, this gift that Joss and the cast gave us.

I for one mean to keep fighting for it.

You know, its kinda funny, I don't see our outlook as grim at all,
Amazon sales and other retail outlets selling Firefly are still phenomenal
the fanbase instead of curling up and dying like soo many other fanbases, is growing bigger daily. Doubt that we are bucking the trend.. good luck finding a healthy and active wonderfalls community ( another show I loved but not as deeply as firefly)

We have another round of comics in the works
Have you seen how much official merchandise is out there? Stylinonline has more firefly designs out than Battlestar or even most of the other things their shirts represent.

Heck, Firefly and Serenity got a mention in the Houston Chronicle, front page of the entertainment section yesterday! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/4535067.html

In my local firefly group, our regular waittress cannot believe how much our group continues to grow, we have spread from one table, to filling a room, and we are about to outgrow that room.

Our angels are coming, you just gotta have faith.

Browncoats are the shiniest folks in the 'verse

What a great answer. One of the wonders of Firefly is just how well the cast gelled together, as if they have been working for 2 or 3 seasons.

I firmly believe that we will see more of the 'verse and that our BDH's will once again light up the world. Each new series or movie they appear in makes them more rounded, dynamic and experienced. This makes me happy for them and for us because when they come back we will be amazed, astounded and in awe of what they do.

The best is yet to come. We hold.

I highly doubt there will be a TV series with the same cast. But it is entirely possible to stil have movies and direct to DVD, even maybe some Saturday night features on Sci-Fi.

Don't give up, dude. Hold that line. Things can get grim looking, but don't ever give up.

hell that is part of why we are browncoats.. on the correct side, even if it doesn't feel like we are winning.. we still hold. and then Miracles happen.

As one above pointed out.. they would all do this IN A HEART BEAT! so all we need is some studio financing and we are good to go....

When Firefly was on sale for $20 at Best Buy in January, I picked up a Firefly and Serenity and SLiTHER. So I noticed that they had only 1 Serenity left...so I thought when that one goes, they won't have any.

So January 30 or so, I went back to see if Firefly was still on sale. I went to check if the last Serenity was gone and there were a bunch of new ones. So Best Buy keeps restocking Serenity.

Also they had new SLiTHER ones because they had some with stickers on them saying $19.99 and some with stickers on them says $14.99 or so. So they restocked SLiTHER too.

I don't know if this is happening at every Best Buy or just the one near me.
