I'll be sure to include the link. Perhpas you talented photoshoppers could put together a couple (one (or more) for each BDH's (or just your fav) B-Day) of banners?

A NEW RECORD!! Too bad it wasn't set by Browncoats.
Ladies and gentlemen, we may well be humped. The Xenites have just broken our record for most votes in a day. I don't know that they'll keep it up, but it is definitely time for us to step up. We can't let Xena hold this record for long!

Today's Numbers

Total Votes (Range to show)
Xena(1): 209,945 (52,742)
Bonanza(2): 175,394 (18,191)
Firefly(3): 157,203 (0)

Votes Gained Today (Wk.Avg.) Avg.
Xena(1): 1,374 (1,093) 603 Gorram! That's record Settin'!
...Consecutive Days > Firefly: 1
...Best in 1 Day: 1,374 (record for all time best)
Bonanza(2): 668 (757) 646
Firefly(3): 963 (1,113) 848
...Consecutive days > 1K: 0
...Best in 1 Day: 1,365

Closure Rate Today (Wk.Avg.) Avg.
Xena(1): -411 (20) 245
Bonanza(2): 295 (356) 202

Days to Intercept Today (Wk.Avg.) Avg.

I've hated the fact that I haven't been able to visit this site as often as before...... work's been crazy...and I still don't have a computer at home. At least I've been voting, with Flyvote jumping up every hour, I've had to interrupt a few meetings to vote, but at least that takes only a second.

I'm confused.

I was under the impression that we previously agreed on February 27 as a voting day. Adam's birthday. Do I have the date right?

But I haven't been able to really do alot about it, except post a few bulletins on myspace.

Does this mean we're not doing it anymore? *looking around anxiously*

Can I then make a suggestion?

Before the previous vote day (December 1) I looked in on http://signal.serenityfirefly.com/links.html and
http://bigdamnboard.com/
for links to other firefly related sites.

On the Bigdamn board, I found a list of groups
http://bigdamnboard.com/websites/groups/?PHPSESSID=4473cd79de503d0beb7
f6eb2214abb01

who seem to be rather involved. I then had the idea of contacting all the groups and getting them to spread the signal a little further.

Unfortunately I spent an entire day composing messages only to find later that I had to actually sign up for the groups before they could get my messages. That was too big a job for one person, and with one thing and the other, I never got back to doing it.

But maybe if we split the groups up between a few of us (so that there's no repitition of messages) we might reach a few more browncoats. If we can get them to load flyvote, this could get us a few more votes.

What do you think?

It might have been previously agreed, but if no one is getting the word out, it will likley be "underwhelming". If there's folks actively aiming for this date, then it certainly needs better attention here as well as elsewhere.

Wow... the Big Damn Board is an -incredible- resource. Thanks for posting it, I had not looked there before.

I agree if you (or someone) can organize some folks to hit some of those FF resources for awareness of the next vote day, that would be fantastic. This is likely my last post before I head out of town, or I'd offer to run down part of the list... hopefully when I get back home things won't be too insane and I can chip in then.

I can't believe we're getting our ass handed to us by Xena. It doesn't help that there strong days appear to be our weak days.

I think all Sci Fi fans should stick together, but like I said after 250,000 you can all go for the first to get at 500,000. I might come unless a Xenties help isn't wanted.

O, we'd love all the help that the Xenties wish to give. If your "goal" is first to 250,000... well, I won't say it is a "fore gone conclusion", but it will take something pretty massive to stop it. If you don't feel that Firefly threatens your "fannish goals" for Xena, please, even "pretty please," vote for Firefly.

Personally, I'm a big fan of "vote all the shows you like that you think should move up the poll". You can vote for all 40 of them if you like (though that doesn't help any of them move up the poll; just keeps the current batch of top 40 safe from those "durn nomination shows" ;-) )

At the same time... this is the Firefly site. Don't be terribly shocked, if coming here, you read about folks interested in getting Firefly to be number 1 in the poll. Obviously, to do that, we have to pass Bonanza and Xena.

Personally, I like Bonanza. And, if necessary, I will vote for it... to keep it in the top 20. Needless to say, it is # 2 and ... well, I'm not voting for it right now.

So, if you like Firefly... please, vote for it. Just be patient with those of us who are determined to make it #1... that's what we are "here" for (here being this thread).

We need a BIG PUSH. Please log in to the Firefly web boards and promote our efforts. Make mention of http://www.usbmicro.com/misc and I'll keep it updated with changes about our bug push for the 27th.

FlyVote 2.2 will be released as soon as I can. It will have links to our DBH's charities. Does anyone here know of any more charities favored by the Firefly cast? Help!

Been a bit lately but been thinking (& voting) we've hit forums but what about chat rooms? Not sure if it would help but I guess it can't hurt.

So I might check out chat rooms even non Sci Fi related ones as there may be fans of the show out there who aren't fans of forums. Let you guys know how I get on and I'll make sure to push 27th too.

You do know you can vote for more than one show at a time don't you? Vote for em all if you like. Otherwise nobody would be talking about alliances and such we'd all just be voting for our own thing.

The object of the exercise as far as I'm concerned is getting Firefly on top I can't do that if I'm voting for the two shows above on the list. So when I say I wont ally with Xena or Bonanza it's not a question of disliking either show or their fans it's just a question of liking the shows less than Firefly.

That is fine, I just decided that Xena brought more to my life the Firefly, so I'm going to stick with it After that I might help Firefly beat Bonanza to at least 500,000. I did not know you could vote for more then one show at a time.

Casual asks: Anybody have any clue why it might be that the Xenites have been making a push?

Actually you all are fueling us (o: nothing like reading threads about another shows fans determined to knock us off of our goal of being the first to 250,000. Especially when we want to get there by Lucy Lawlesses birthday.

So you've decided to stop voting for Firefly because you no longer like Firefly? You said you loved Firefly. Is that no longer the case?

I bashed a different shows fan only once because what she said was an ignorant, baseless insult. I don't necessarily like show X, or Y, but I won't insult the fans of the show. On this board I have never heard anyone bash a show that we've already passed, unlike some other boards.

We want to be #1 on that list. Shouldn't passing the two shows above us be the way to do that? Or should our goal be to have exactly the same number of points so that nobody's feelings get hurt?

No I still love FIrefly, but I want Xena to reach 250,000 first, after that I'll help get FF past Bonanza.

I kow you want to get FF past Xena, but you have to know it is not going to happen before we reach our goal, so instead of someone saying they will take anybodies help but Xenites and Bonanza fans it might have been in your best interet to have an alliance with Xenites help us get to our goal then you might had had another 1,000+ votes a day to get FF past Bonanza and be the first to get to 500,000. Maybe I'll propose this to Bonanza fans (o;

We want to be ahead of Xena and Bonanza. If we solicit the help of a Xena fan that casts an equal number of votes for Xena as Firefly, then the relative positions will not change. That's why the reference to Xenites and Bonanza fans stated previously. Nothing meant as anything negative. Does that make sense to you now?

I assume most fans vote on that poll for the pride they have in the show(s) they love. Nothin' wrong with that, but Firefly fans are browncoats for a reason... we were on the losing side. I have plenty of respect for Xena, but it had 6 seasons to tell its story. Though I'm not one for bashing others, I'm sure there will be comments elsewhere that sound angry and spiteful. You will for one simple reason... those who still hold out for Firefly's continuance know that they desperately need to make a statement that people will make people take notice. There's nothing wrong with fighting for prestige, but we fight existance.... and ours tends to be the bloodier battle.

Xena will make 250,000 first... that's inevitable. That's great news for a show that shattered expectations in a new and very risky way.

But what if Firefly was going to instead? As a fan base we've tried over and over again to prove that it is a marketable franchise, so wouldn't hitting a quarter million votes first amongst all the other voting make an impact? Numbers seem to be the only thing execs will base a decision on, and here they are.

That won't happen for this benchmark, for better or worse. I hope that the significant showing that we have put together will not be diminished by our coming in a still respectable third.

I do understand, but do you really think you will get past Xena before 250,000? You may have a few dozen more votes then XWP, with the expection of lately because you have fueledour votes to over 1300 (thanks)but you still need to more then double your votes, so next best think would get Xena fans to help boost you to the number 2 spot.

Your preacing to the choir here *G* I love FF, and if Joss had written in one gay character that would have attracted a lot of the Xena fandom over. It worked for Buffy when he chose to make Willow gay. I would have been a FF fan from the start instead of buying the SErenity DVD, loving it and then buying the FF dvd's to see what I missed. This show could have gone far. Hell all Xena did for the first 5 season was toss us some crumbs now and then and look how the lesbians ate it up. At least FF was set in the future, we lesbians are very loyal and we have A LOT of money to burn, and if you had even been to aa Xena con and watched on lesbian bid $40,000 for the Xena sword then write a check for it you would want a part of that market. Showtime realized it hence Queer as Folk, now the L Word. I know I have kind of gotten off topic, but basically what I am trying to say is Joss burnt his own bridge! Hordes of Xena fans flocked to Buffy when Willow got a girlfriend, just think of where FF would be had made one of those 4 beautiful women a lesbian? It would have brought a lot more guys to the show too.

I'm just rambling, I am voting for FF, just not every hour, gotta make sure Xena gets the numbers first.

I guess what I love about Firefly is that it is timeless. The parts that deal with what we call issues now are never the point of the show. I was big into ST:TNG when I was growing up, but I have a hard time watching an episode now. I'm past it I guess.

Bringing in a lesbian character may boost ratings, get Fox's attention (they love sex appeal after all) and confront some important issues... but that's just it. Firefly doesn't confront issues. Its lives on the other side of the issue. Zoe and Wash are interracially married... but so what? In that time frame that's not important. Its not tackling the issue, but rather ignoring it.

That doesn't mean a lesbian couldn't be a character, but I think it would seem forced... as if Joss was thinking "how many issues can I deal with on one flying wagon train?" I thought War Stories did a fine job of making clear the show's stance without making it a plot device. I also thought it was an interesting character study, but that's for another thread

Can I say issue any more in one post?

Charmed also approached us for a deal :) Looks like a sci-fi block is FINALLY forming, which is so great :)

A bump for Lexx, Firefly and Charmed all in one :)

You can't? What OS?

Should be where it was, unless there is a horrid bug...

Still there on the Windows version that is percolating on my machine.

By-the-way: The "Hide for an Hour" button starts the timer and makes the window disappear completely. The Minimize button also starts the timer and minimizes the window to the task bar in Windows and to the bar in OSX with a visible countdown.

In either case the window will pop up after an hour.

Totally voting BSG!

The first half of season 3 that I have seen has really impressed me. Much more than season 2 which was looking some direction.

Hmmm, well, it's Windows XP, so I downloaded that version. But if the minimize will also reset & pop, that's all I really need:))) Incidentally, the restart timer & stop timer do show up sometimes.

I love technology

Picking ourselves off the floor from the backwash of Xena's hard burn. They've spotted the home straight (such irony) and are now sprinting for the place where they will declare victory. Good luck to 'em.

I'm pressing on with target of second place and the notion that it too is just a couple of laps away.

We don't have a deal with BSG yet, so we're not voting for them yet :)

Bump from me. And don't mind Xena, she's just making a final push before she dies out. Her fans got tired of voting. If they weren't, they'd all vote, not gather on a most needed moment. What fans are those thousands, if they only come now, and not before, there were times, when even Lexx was faster than Xena! So let her die out in fire and occupy the first place after that :)

I've updated the numbers for today (see above post). 1,350 votes for Xena, 1,088 for Firefly. While both are very impressive numbers, they are not record setting. My appologies for any morale hit that may have occured.

I hope (Browncoats always have hope) Fedexxx and StormCat are right. Months of low (still 3rd in votes is low?) activity, followed by a kick in our teeth, with a fixed goal in mind (250K by LL's B-day); to be followed by a drop in activity as the Xenites declare themselves the winners.
We'll be second (unless the Bonanzai really step up as we close on them) to 250K. We will be first (ifif StormCat & Fedexxx are right and the Xenites back off) to 500,000, and every milestone after that.

Bump.

And for the record I'm voting:

Firefly, Angel, Buffy, Lexx, Battlestar Galactica, and now Charmed.

Edit: Plus nominating Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
