Joss once said he didn't want to just entertain, he wanted to invade dreams--did it work?

I posted a similar subject on an old BUFFY board once, because when the show was on, especially during seasons 3-5, I had several dreams involving the characters, and a few involving the actors. The last one I remember was a couple of years ago. In the dream, I saw Alyson Hannigan at a local restaurant (pre-MOTHER) and I got so emotional I couldn't even get up the nerve to approach her. I think I had one of Nathan since then, but I can't remember what it was about.

I was wondering if that has happened to anyone involving FIREFLY.

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

I think a few of them have slipped into my dreams, although I don't remember a dream where I was set in the 'verse specifically (I remember something about... a race? or maybe where they're on the mule, and shooting the Reavers, except there was other stuff, and they weren't shooting Reavers, and I am making even less sense than the dream).

I also remember a thread about Firefly dreams.

::goes to find it::

Must've missed that one. Sorry for posting the same thing over again.

Naw, it's okay. Plus, there are actually close to a billion (I kid, I kid) threads on it. I'll try not to repeat any:

http://fireflyfan.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=26741

And, these two talk about music and dreaming about Firefly:

That's all I could find, anyway. And, again, no problem with the posting - it's given me a chance to do that up above.

Edit: Hope that worked...

It's strange to me that of the dreams I've had involving BUFFY characters, none took place in Sunnydale. It wasn't real life either exactly. I don't know, I just remember being "friends" with Oz and Xander and everybody and we were all worried about Buffy, trying to figure out how to help her in a battle. It was a town, but nothing resembled Sunnydale sites, or anywhere in real life I've ever been.

Another one I remember specifically was right after Seth Green left. I hadn't known before the episode aired that he was leaving, and I pretty much flipped out when he was suddenly gone. I ended up having a dream that I was in some big, mall/museum-y type place and I saw him, kept trying to catch up with him and find out why he left and ask him to come back and make things "right" (only BUFFY fans would understand that statement), but I never was able to.

David Boreanaz and Marc Blucas have also made cameos in my dreams.

For some reason, I'm not able to access them, don't know why. Probably my computer.

Thanks anyway. Hope it wasn't too much trouble.

Oh, are you using the site without the 's' after fan? 'Cause I can edit the links if you want me to...

And, no, not too much trouble at all.

Hell, yes, the man has invaded my dreams. I've spent the last year with the 'Verse on the back of my eyelids. I write what I can remember down, (and then edit out the really strange bits. Mostly.)

I have never had the urge to play with someone else's characters this strongly before. We're definitely into addiction territory.

I just got on the internet at about 5:15-5:30 (edit: that was 6:15-6:30, I forgot to reset all my clocks for daylight savings) this morning and I have a section on my homepage that's devoted to constantly updated news from Whedonesque (my favorite site ever, so it's right up front and center). One of the postings was about the problem with this site and how to get around it. So I went directly here and found out you had figured out the problem for me, too...you were right, I was able to access the threads through fireflyfan.net. In fact, just finished reading them. Pretty interesting! Thank you again!

Sadly, though, posting about this subject and having it on my mind didn't inspire any dreams about FIREFLY or SERENITY last night.

It is, however inspiring a pretty vivid DAYDREAM about crushing on "casual aquaintance" Nathan Fillion, who is finding out about my crush and starting to like me too. Ooh, there's some touching!!! Hmm...maybe if I continue this the rest of the day the "daydream" might progress...

Man, I need to get me a life.

My dreams, like my waking thoughts, are very complex. Layered. Textured. An Air Force psychologist once remarked in his eval that I have "a rich internal landscape". And yes, there is often a Firefly undertone to my dreams. But I don't dream specifically about one character. Usually, I'm on the ship -- or on a planetary surface -- interacting with the characters as a group. I wish I could report that it was during one of the communal table scenes I so loved on the show; but typically we're all very busy and working as a team (sometimes on an unspecified crisis) with lots of cross-talk between the crew (of which I am a part).

In addition, since the show first aired, Firefly has been on my mind on a daily basis. For me, this is not entirely unusual. The Bible, Jonathon Swift, Frank Herbert's Dune series, Monty Python's Meaning of Life and The Holy Grail, and Fight Club (deeply philosophical movie, imo, and definitely my sort of scare-the-PTBs satirical, anarchic fantasy) have informed my personality and are never far from my thoughts. I often find myself asking, "What would Mal/Book/Tyler Durden/Duke Leto do?"
(NB: I already know what Jesus would do, so I never have to ask that question. ...And Paul Atriedes is entirely too pragmatic; I could never make the tradeoffs of honor he does. The 'ends', no matter how 'good', never justify evil 'means'.)

Dreamily,

zoid

P.S.
...And although I love his work, I would never ask myself, "What would Joss do?", as a moral compass. Killing people at random just to generate an emotional response from onlookers seems a bit...antisocial...to say the least.
