Ok, somebody really really needs to find out why Allan and Ron were omitted from the press release. Carelessness cause there's a lot of names? They really won't be in the Big Damn Movie? Some diabolical social experiment run by the mice?

I mean, I could handle one of them missing, but both? I'm finding myself deeply conflicted over the best movie news ever! (I'm retroactively removing "George Lucas is going to start making Star Wars movies." I hope this will turn out a mite better.)

If they're not in the BDM then I will be sad and morose, but then I will have a hoot and possibly an anny - YOU CAN'T TAKE MY GORRAM SKY!

Have to agreee about the sad and morose part there. Firefly just ain't the same without those two.

I would imagine that they're coming onto the movie... They were the ones that wanted to come back.

They will be there...they BETTER be there...

I mean, Alan was the one that gave Joss the red button he'd "borrowed" and told Joss to use it when his miracle happened to call them all back...and Ron couldn't talk about Firefly without crying in the documentry. So I'd say it's a safe bet both of them will move mountains to be in the movie!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is what I am thinking too. They just haven't officially signed yet. Just some paperwork and lawyer speak to get out of the way first.

The Firefly movie is the featured story on www.thefutoncritic.com . They are reporting that ALL NINE cast members will be back for the movie including Alan and Ron. I really, really hope they are right. It would not be the same without all nine of the cast back.

Ok, just pulled this quote off of scifi.com

"The trade paper reported that Whedon is on board to write and direct the feature, and that the entire original cast of the series, among them Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres and Summer Glau, would reprise their characters."

the entire original cast of the series!!!

This is encouraging

Does the thought of Firefly without Wash make anyone else sick and woozy?

Here's hoping it's just tiny legal issues before press date.

I agree, it wouldn't be the same without Wash/Alan Tudyk!!! (Side issue: Did you know he's got a movie coming out in June? It's "Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story" with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.) They've just got to work out the details to get him to come back for "Serenity".

I agree, Universal - They are loved! Pay them the money!!! How can they fly the ship without Wash (Alan Tudyk), for heaven's sake?!? He's a key character! Do what has to be done to seal the deal!

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Universal Pictures has greenlighted "Serenity," a feature film based on the short-lived FOX series "Firefly." The studio snagged the feature rights to "Firefly" from 20th Century Fox Television back in September (read the story).

Production on the project, budgeted in the mid-eight figures, is set to begin in June for a 2005 release date. Joss Whedon, the show's creator and executive producer, is on board to write and direct the project, which will see all nine original cast members - Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, Jewel Staite, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk - reprising their roles.

Whedon told Daily Variety the title shift is designed to give the franchise some distance from the TV version. "It was important that people understand that the movie isn't the series," he said. "The movie is bigger, more epic than anything you can do in a series." He also added he went out of his way to make sure the script was accessible to audiences who never tuned into "Firefly." "You're not going to bring people into a movie if you're explaining all the time what happened before," Whedon added.

Details about "Serenity" weren't released however Whedon specified the feature is set about six months after the TV show left off.

Barry Mendel ("Unbreakable," "The Sixth Sense"), Alissa Tager and Mutant Enemy's Chris Buchanan are executive producing the project in addition to Whedon.

We should get together an boycott little plastic dinosaurs!

Think about it. If we all withheld our little plastic dinosaur buying dollars, we would send the entire little plastic dinosaur market into a tailspin.

In order to maintain cordial relations with the Chinese, amitted leaders in the manufator of little plastic dinosaurs, the aministration would have no choice but to intervene.

Universal would be forced to capitulate to our demands!

I'm sure they'll both be there..
either way it's still too soon to petition or boycott. Eventually we'll hear the scoop from Joss or Chris.
