I'm just wondering if there are any browncoats in the general Toronto area. From what I've heard there are none and that would be really gorram disappointing. So if you are please say something. Oh and I'm new here so if there is anyone willing to help me interms of writing fanfics, I am all ears.

I think that a fair bit of people there are around Toronto. Though I don't participate in that group.

Plus I just moved to the Toronto area approx. 2 weeks ago. So, there's at least one

Would you settle for a north of Toronto Browncoat?

There are actually quite a few Ontarionian Browncoats floating around here.

Welcome aboard! As for writing fanfic? Write what you like. Can't please all the people all the time. As long as you're happy with it that's what counts.

Plenty of people 'round here that'll lend a hand or ear if you get stuck.

I'm from the GTA though I am travelling at the moment and when I return will mostly likely head to Vancouver to get me some schooling.

But I was born and raised in Brampton (ok, technically I was born in Oakville even though my parents lived in Brampton at the time).

Hey friend,

You ain't alone. I (-- and many people I know -- are DIEHARD Firely fans, and live in Toronto.

I also haven't been able to locate any kind of organised forum for Toronto fans -- but take heart, we're here and we ain't goin' away.

All of us are gorram busy with life of course; but I would welcome hearing from a fellow browncoat-at-heart. Send me a line sometime (achronos -atsign- canada -period- com), and we can chat or event meet someplace and talk about Firely-dom in the GTA.

Cheers, and keep flying!

Sounds cool Achronos...

I know a few people who've watched Firefly, but they're not uber fans (none of them hate though so that's good... is it even possible to hate Firefly?). I'm trying to convince some of the people around me to watch it and I have a sort of waiting list to borrow my disks. I'm hoping once I show it to them they'll love it, spread the signal and we might be able to have something of an organized Shindig every once in a while.

Oh I know that ritual! Then the ancient shamans did the hokey-pokey and turned themselves around.

We will be selling the shirt, the poster and yep, we have shiny giveaways just like last year. I was at B3 and managed to get Tim Minear's autograph on a Serenity miniposter that already has Jonathan Woodward's Morena's Christina's and Robert Lee's - the Fruity Oaty Bar guy.

We have a variety of other things for a silent auction as well as door prizes. So if you are from the Toronto area, come join us! This year's screening should be great!

I've realized Winnipeg is a crap-eh city lets take the weather into account, this winter (which is not quite done I might add) I remember temperatures in the region of minus 42 degrees C with the wind... what can be said about this city? Who the hell decided to settle here?! Anyways I found that the canadianbrowncoats site seems to be based out of Ontario (Toronto), plus there's a large number of people in that city so I'm sure SOMEONE out there must like the show and live in the region.

Be more insulting. Not to mention your ignorance of history.

You want to start about ignorance of history?! All everyone does is repeat history, ignore history we preach about how we must heed the things the past have taught us yet wars still happen.Everyone fights for the same causes, fights over the same things over and over and over and over and yet me deciding to not give France a shout out is insulting? I think its odd how people take others words to heart when peoples words and opinions are anything but permanement (George Brown? I believe at one point Macdonald was regarded as his enemy. But there was a coalition, there was confederacy.) If you have never had a bitter moment standing in the freeeezing wind waiting for a bus you are too good for this world. I'm sorry if my words rattled the heart that loves Winnipeg with a fierce firey passion, I meant it all in good humour and I'm actually insulted that you were insulted with my harmless banter. It's one of those things where you just can't win.

PS If you have never met a Winnipeger who complains constantly about the weather, check your map.

1) I'm _not_ talking about others so why you bring them up is beyond me.

2) Your comments about what I'm apparently referring to (France) is based on nothing but /your/ assumption(s).

3) *You* are the one freaking out /not/ me.

4) A bitter moment from time to time hardly makes a city "crap".

5) You didn't "rattle [ my ] heart". How you got this from what I wrote (or lack thereof; it was terse), I have no idea. Probably more assumptions.

6) Things in good humour end in a If there is no then you can't expect people to take anything you post as humour i.e. people can't read the thoughts and intentions you had while writing your posts when they read your posts.

7) Insulted and rattling a heart are two very different things.

8) I lived in Winnipeg for almost 30 years and I _never_ met anyone that /constantly/ complained about the weather.

9) Most importantly, before you reply (if you reply), calm down and think before you click submit. I won't reply to another vehement rant, only civil discourse.

A friend of mine just went to Winnipeg on business and was pleasantly surprised -- cosmopolitan, cultured (theatres, orchestra, ballet), lots of nice architecture -- basically the same population size (780,000) as Ottawa and containing all the amenities you could hope for.

Some not-so-nice areas, too, of course, which are hard to avoid in any city. And then there's the weather; but coming from Ottawa we can hardly complain :)

What is a teenager without generic cynical ranting about the place they live? I'm sure at one point everyone felt the place they lived was crappy compared to the big wide world they have yet to see.
As for the rattling I was being overly discriptive and pleased with the flow of the words I'm sorry for all of the things that have been said (though I enjoyed every moment **Teenager = love of arguments**, plus the ENTP personality type doesn't help...) and Winnipeg didn't deserve the crap-eh perhaps just a regular crappy...:P I love playing up stereotypes and am a huge lover of satire, I realize that sense of 'humour' is hard to portray over the computer and will remember the coveted :P
Sorry for the rant. Make peace not war.

I can reiterate that there are a number of active Browncoats in the Toronto area. We meet about monthly for shindigs, fantastically organized by the keeper of Canadian Browncoats and Lioness.

They are as nice, friendly, intelligent and interesting a group as you would expect Browncoats to be.

Check out the yahoo group link that Lioness provided and come on out!

And our Can't Stop the Serenity screening is shaping up to be a big bash with the dedicated Browncoat, the casual fan, and the newbie all attending.

P.S. I was in Winnipeg once twenty years ago and I didn't like it as much as Saskatoon but better than Regina.

Saskatoon? Lol. I think the only reason I didn't like it when I stayed there (ten years ago) was because we had a smoking room for my family of non-smokers in this really ...gross I suppose hotel. The carpet was dirty to a point of deeply blackening my socks haha, if I had had a better experience I'm sure I would have liked it more.
