Last week we took our boys, 8 and 10, to Disney World and Universal Studios. A trip we have been planning for about 5 years now.
My 10 year old, Hunter, wanted to ride 'Dualing Dragons' at Universal Studios. Its a roller coaster with two trains running at the same time with intermingling tracks, lots of loops and twists and such. (Dad wasn't too excited but I gave in and rode with him )
Anyway, we get just to the top of the first hill, you know, the spot where all hell is about to break loose, you wish you had used that last 'chicken exit', and your nerves start to get all freaked out...
when I hear my son say to himself "I'm a leaf on the wind. Watch how I sore." just as we start to go over the top!
I instantly lost all my anxiety and got the biggest smile on my face and laughed the entire ride!
Thought some of you would appreciate this!

"You wanna run this ship?"
"Yes"
"Well,...you can't"

Great story SeanCJ

Yepper just when fear starts settling in ( on things) our kids show us how to face that fear in the form of innocence. Sounds as if it turned out to be a thrilling ride and ended with a great bonus. You've come away with a smile and a great memory.

YES!!!!
Gives ya hope for the future, ya? And a warm, fuzzy feelin' inside when a young 'un quotes the ol' 'verse (It was hard not to say "Dibbun" there... I STILL got Jacques on the brain, even when I last read a book... two days ago. Okay, so not so surprising...)

Thanks guys! He's a great kid, well both of my boys are. They both love Firefly and Serenity (although I do fast forward through a few of the BDM's scenes for their little eyes).
The great thing is that Hunter said this not knowing that I heard him. He was putting himself into a mindset at that moment.
I didn't mention earlier, but after the ride, he told me that during the entire ride, he pretended he was flying Serenity through the battle scene over Mr. U's planet. Mind you, NOT the 'Falcon' or an 'X-wing', or a 'Jedi fighter' (albeit we do love Star Wars as well), but flying 'Serenity'!
How cool is that?

It's been out for a while, and the recipes are shiny. I'm a terribly picky eater, but I will eat things that are in the Redwall Cookbook that would otherwise be dead to me. Also, and on topic, its really cool that your son would rather be flying Serenity than any other ship. But we must give thanks to the 'Falcon because it was part of where Joss got his inspiration (("And it made me think about the Millenium Falcon, as most things do." So funny, especially because that's true for me and most of my friends.))

Wait... a COOKBOOK!?!?!
I gots ta get me this...
Lord knows, the feasts described in any Redwall book are enough to make ye want one of 'em... which they never seem to be around. I DEFINITELY will check that out!
Thanks!

I must respectfully disagree, as MY 10 yr old is the coolest of the cool, however...

That is the sweetest story. It totally made my day. Thanks.
