I was trying to avoid the word "Vote", because, as noted in the previous thread (or was it the one before that?) some folk'll not click on a thread (Imponderables, water cooler, forsaken, vote, picture, whatever), that they know the general content of but don't follow.
Hoping to drum up a few new converts by using a cunning new marketing ploy.

Those that have fallen for my low down dirty... well, it ain't decievin' since I never claimed it was something else. Anyway point is: We need you to vote regular if we're going to catch Xena.
Install FlyVote (takes about... 2 minutes), and use it. Grand total it'll eat about 5 minutes of your day every day. Vote for as many shows as you like every hour (though it'd be a kindness if you'd not vote for Xena )

A REALLY IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

At the risk of suffering from voter burnout, vote for Serenity at http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6517155.stm

We need MAXIMUM voting for this one. BBC World News is read by millions everyday, what better exposure for the BDM than to challenge (& beat) Star Wars. C'mon 'coats, mobilize and vote, vote, vote.

Star Wars 40.92%
Serenity 22.26%
Blade Runner 21.84%

16,049 votes cast

Lets aim for better than 33% of the vote.

I know this is mentioned on other threads but as the hardcore voters frequent this thread, it seemed to be a great place to drop a line.

The results of the SFX poll seem to be spreading throughout the Web. While a large number of comments (particularly on SFX) point towards "fanboy ballot stuffing" and the pointlessness of on-line polls, where you can vote more than once, the signal is spreading.

The BDM is getting a lot recognition and, while some people rant (badly):

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rant-Give-It-Up-Browncoats-4828.html

Some people encourage others to view it

http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,2048823,00.html

As much as I respect the journalistic qualities of the articles at cinemablend, more people will read a British broadsheet newspaper like the Guardian. Whether the Guardian thinks the BDM is actually better than Star Wars is, in my opinion, irrelevant.

Oh, and Vump, by the way!

I'll be in my bunk....

Which is the best sci-fi film?
Serenity
24.05%
Star Wars
39.30%
Blade Runner
21.88%
Planet of the Apes
2.49%
The Matrix
12.28%
I voted for Serenity, although I don't think you will win this one. Being nominated and being second isn't bad at all, you're still showing the world the greatness of the movie. However Star Wars has MANY MANY MANY fans throughout the world, it's old and classic, it's the first sci-fi and it was on the cinemas, while I think Serenity went right to the video-stores. Correct me if I'm wrong. So more people have seen Star Wars and more people like it.

You should be glad that you get nominated so often :) Lexx is never nominated nowhereq mostly because:
1. It's not USA
2. It has too much erotic scenes
3. It has way too much strange stuff for the main-stream to nominate it anywhere.
However by this logic I should be happy, that Lexx is in top 40 of TV_VOTE, but I'm not happy that Lexx isn't and is never going to be in top 5 :( But I'm voting and hoping, so...

...So the important conclusion of all this is: NEVER STOP VOTING :)

Bump--and may I suggest a different color for Xena? Hard to see our competition on that graph. Maybe a plain white background would work better?

Dark purple would work better methinks. In fact I imagine you could get a lot more distinctive colors if you used a white background and went for vaguely darkish colors. With the gray background, anything that's "medium-ly" dark is going to be almost invisible...

Anyone got any estimates on how long it'll take to catch QaF?

SLOWHAND

I couldn't help it. I had to make a comment to the article on cinemablend. This is what I wrote:

"Death threats to critics? Please. Don't you think you're over-exagerating a bit? And even if it were true, ALL fandom is exactly the same. They are ALL obsessed with the shows they like, not just the Browncoats. Yes, I'll admit, there are those fans that take it too far. But not just Browncoats. All fandom has those people that do things they shouldn't!

One of Hollywood's biggest flops? How do you figure? To say it was even a minor dissapointment would be wrong, much less one of Hollywood's BIGGET FLOPS! The film made money for the studio. The Firefly DVD set and Serenity are still one of Amazon's biggest sellers. That's saying something of a show that was only half a season and cancelled 5 years ago! The studio execs have said in several interviews that the movie did exactly what they were expecting it to do. They HOPED it would do better, but every studio HOPES that their film becomes huge. But Serenity is far from a flop. It made money. Oh, another thing. If the movie was so bad, do you actually think the studio would be releasing a 2-disk Special Edition DVD of Serenity in July? Yeah. One of Hollywoods biggest flops. Please.

Your entire article simply sounds like a personal attack on fans of Firefly. You exagerated your statements and had no facts to back them up.

And here's something else to think about. The Browncoats willingness to not give up is what helped get the movie Serenity made! You don't like Firefly or Serenity, fine. Everyone has their own tastes. It's what makes us all unique. But don't tell people that they need to give up. You have no right to tell anyone what they need to do or not do."

Well we've been beating them 1600+ to 1000ish for the past fews day. Thats a fair point spread. Plus, I don't see any reason why we won't continue to grow our steady voting base (we've slowly gone up for 400 a day 8 or 10 months ago to where we are now) whereas they seem like to shrink back to their former hiberatory figures of what? 600ish? The threat of them turning the heat up to 2800 may still exist but for now I think we just need to be consistent and run 'em down. VOTE BROWNCOATS!
