Ah, sadly no. We are a public, stated-funded institution and so we recognized only public, federal holidays, and not even all of them. Allowances are made individually for religious oservances and such, but we can't show any manner of favoritism. Even though for the first time in a long time Passover, Easter (Orthodox) and Easter (everyone else) all coincide. (Even Baisakhi falls right on their heels.)

Well, I'll buy you a cup of good stuff at the Pub if you like.

Morning all:) Hope everyone had a great weekend. I am still home today as last day of spring break:)

Just posted a couple of pics from the Easter weekend. Don't much like the shot it kind of makes me look like Miss. Piggy and all...weird angle, but it ws cold so we didn't stay out much and get pics, plus poor Wyatt was sick and couldn't come.

So how was everyone's weekend?

Morning, msg!

copied from last thread:

I had some good news over the weekend. I sold my truck Dora to a family who just got here from Honduras. He's a mechanic, so with $400 worth of parts and $1000 worth of his own elbow grease, he should get Dora back up to spiffy in no time. I am happy I helped a family in need, Dora got a good home, I got the $$ I was looking for, and Carson was happy his favorite truck wouldn't be sold for parts. Everyone won.

It snowed here Saturday morning making for a cold Easter Egg hunt at my father-in-law's church sponsored event. (It melted fairly quickly.) We had fun, and Carson got to see his beloved cousin Hannah (see pic from previous thread where she's peeking behind him holding Mouse Trap.) Hannah has said that now that she & Carson are 6, they are getting married. Carson is not amused!

(Just saw the pic of you and Annie - I think you look great! Annie's dress is adorable, too. Looks like you had nice weather. It was cold here in MD.)

It was sunny, but only about 55 degrees...still better than snow though. I'm just sorry cute Wyatt was sick.
Hey that's great about Dora:) Happy homes are always good. We did that with our little Honda. It had been driven forever and wasn't worth much so we gave it to some friends who really needed a car and had no money to buy it. Always nice to give your beloved car to someone who needs and appreciates it and know that it's not sold for scrap:)

He's been walking on my mam's crutches all weekend. She kept telling him he was using them wrong nut he didn't listen. I mean why would you listen to the woman whose had to use crutches for the last 23 years?

it's very warm here in far Nor-Cal. That's northern california for all you that don't know. So far north it's really southern Oregon. It's been such a warm winter the lake has about 30 ft more beach than it did last year. We are going to die this summer! It already got to about 120 degrees last summer and that was after a winter with actual snow! Yipes

We could get 5 islands in a row in the Maldives.

Island a) George Clooney
Island b) Mavourneen
Island c) Sean Bean
Island D) MsG
Island E) Mark Harmon

We could share Sean Bean, and we each would have a bo-hunk of our very own.

My favorite clay masque: Queen Helene Mint Julep

and MsG, you MUST buy this trial size of Komenuka Bijin Rice Bran products
http://www.amazon.com/Komenuka-Bijin-10-Product-Trial-Sample/dp/B000BR
15GK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/103-2243678-7567038?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1176140224&sr=8-2

the next time you order from Amazon. At $4.95 for the trial sizes, you'll be reeeealllly pissed at me once you realize you adore the shampoo and it is imported from Japan at $30 / bottle!

That's what they make internet by satellite for, silly. All islands have electricity. I wouldn't buy an island where I'd have to plug my blowdryer into a palm tree...

I'n not entirely sure what he did. I went upstairs and he was measuring; then my brother came home from his girlfriend's and said that my dad'd sprained his foot.

edit: I just found out how he did it. He'd taken some grass cuttings to Thornley Station tip and fell wrong.

Yeah most people in England say mum, but up here in the north we say mam. not sure why.

What is it about the UK and "the North"? I thought it was just Ireland, but now it's also Brittain. And now that I think of it, Scotland's to the north, too. I cannot really make too much of it: Michigan has an "Up North" as well that that we all refer to. There must be something to this concept though.

As for dad, I had visions of him being attacked by his motorcycle kickstand...

the north of England, usually considered a barren wasteland by the south; who can rarely name a place there other than newcastle.

He didn't get attacked by the kickstand, the cruel irony is that he was planning to go out on his bike yesterday but the sprain stopped him.

Ah, the imponderables. A place of island dreaming amidst the utterly slow-moving day. I thought when you had a lot of work to do, the day was suppose to fly by?

My island dreaming includes Ewan McGregor, Adam Garcia, Edward Norton or Nathan Fillion. Um, sounds like a good way to spend the day...or the rest of my life.

But back to real life. Easter was just another day, but a warm one...so that was good. Went riding, but my pony has been having some issues. Had a stomach ache on Wednesday...and yesterday was acting a little punky. He got one of his vaccinations on Friday and I think he was upset. He got it in his chest and now has a big swelling...it's grapefruit size...his own little boob. HK, have you been using my horse as a test subject for those guinea pig boobs? Hopefully it will go down before our show next week.

Hope y'all had nice holidays.

I've heard of Newcastle, but wretched colonist that I am, I couldn't place it North or South! You know how it is: the British Isles are some bunch of anglicised, arrogant Europeans that we had to save in WWII. Can't be bothered about issues with geography or that fact that there's a remarkable cultural depth there. Nope. Not us. We're Americans. Now if you had oil things might be different...

I am away from my computer all week doing soldering training (I found out as I walked into the building this morning). I may also try to find someone's computer to use, and if I can't, then I'll have a lot of catching up to do next week. Y'all have a shiny one!

We actually get the day after Easter as opposed to Columbus Day. So since I handle payroll and finance needs it by noon Tuesday I get to spend a few hours gettin' it done. Workwise: My kids are still A-holes, I got to hear a parent visit with their kid and talk bad about everyone else whilst they cannot have any of their six kids 'cause they can't take care of 'em but its still everyone else's fault, one of my tech's is quittin', another don't play well with others, etc., etc.

On the "She" front, no lunch. She warned me there was an audit coming and sure enough... Anyhoo, she did wish me a happy Easter yesterday morning.

Went and saw Grindhouse with my Babysis Sat night. Before y'all ask if it was any good I'll tell ya's this: I was up since 5:00AM, drove to Reno, detailed my Aunties truck, assembled a desk, and visited before going to the theater at 5:30 PM. Watched all but the last two minutes. Grabbed up mu sis, ran back to my aunts house to pick up some stuff we forgot and returned to the theater to watch it again. This time the crowd was much more lively as the geeks from the local fetish shop brought a group of at least twenty people. Laughing, clapping, cheering. It was fantastic. Went to Wally World for some munchies and made it home at about 3:30AM, watched The Message Ep. before going to bed at 4:45AM. Seems since my disc 4's been missing for the last month I had to watch it.

Well, back to payroll.
