Well, I don't exactly feel like I'm "creepy" but it's nice to know that there are still articles around the 'net talking about the shameful cancellation of our fave show!!!

Thanks for posting the link. Hope the article helps some folk find the show who wouldn't have otherwise. Pretty good two paragraph write-up for FF.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for the link. I agree with Rcat that it is positive about Firefly/Serenity and should help net some new fans. It is however a tad negative in relation to the browncoat community. I am neither "creepy" nor "furious", nor are the vast majority of the 'coats I see posting online.

This part bothers me too:

Quote:

As was typical with the Firefly franchise, however, the film was mis-marketed, the Browncoats became far too over-zealous and made the movie seem like some sort of cult initiation ritual, and the film underperformed at the box office.

I don't care for how he leads readers to believe we are some sort of borderline cult fanatics. The above comment also leads readers to believe that the "over-zealous" behavior of the browncoats led the movie to fail. B.S.! More like poor marketing on the part of Universal.

Damn. Even when some people get it right, they still get part of it wrong.

You read the article and it sounds like he never actually saw the show; more like "someone told" him it was a good show......his comments about Browncoats are absurd & ridiculous.

And in regards to Universal's marketing, I say ...what marketing? If a person had never seen Firefly, and REALLY...who the hell would have?( remember it was aired right after 911, when most folks were still watching CNN or Fox round the clock ) they would not have any clue what Serenity was about.

I imagine he saw it if he was willing to take the leap and call Serenity one of the best scifi films ever as well as put Firefly as number two on his list above hits that lasted longer and got more critical praise like Sport's Night and Arrested Development. Glad to see the Tick and Freaks and Geeks on there as well. My only qualm is no Joan of Arcadia. I think that was an excellent show that was dropped for no good reason.

Oh yea, Firefly aired more than a year after 911. Lets not blame Islam for this one too okay?

Yes, you are correct. I've become unstuck in time, and this happens to me from time to time.

I am also somewhat unsulted by the writers depiction of Browncoats. Creepy or furious indeed.

As to when Firefly was first aired and why no one saw it, in my area it came on just in time for some interupting, annoying sports season or another. The ball games were always preempting it. How can a show get ratings it's never on.

Hey thats a great list- Two Bruce Campbell shows i liked to watch AND the Lone Gunman AND Dead like me.

Should have added Dark Angel and Tru Calling

But i agree with the list nevertheless. It seems most of them were on Fox....

Just what I was thinking. It's like he saw maybe one episode, and relied on common opinion after that. Did he not realize that on SportsNight they got rid of the laugh track after the first few episodes? Homeboy needs to do some research.

My favorite cancelled shows:

Carnivale (i'm still bitter about this cancellation; Carnivale was an absolutely AMAZING experience and there was so much more story to tell; this show will stand with the greatest)

Firefly (self-explanatory)

Wonderfalls (season one had a satisfying conclusion, so i'm not bitter it ended, but it was still a great show that deserved a chance)

Dead Like Me (one of my favorite shows of all time, behind Firefly; i have fond memories of the great characters and humor)
