Note:This thread is for people who love both Joss Whedon, and Quentin Tarantino. But if you can't stand one of the two for a certain reason, I'd love to hear it.

When Quentin Tarantino made Pulp Fiction in 1993, he was labeled as one of the freshest most original film makers of our time. His dialouge is nothing short of amazing, the way his movies play out in a non linear form, (many have copied) keeps you glued to the screen. Jackie Brown was further proof that Tarantino was no one hit wonder, but instead a very true talent, worthy of all the praise he gets.
Kill Bill 1, and 2 are of epic stature, and about as much fun you can have watching a movie, and still be legal.

Joss Whedon is of the same faction of Tarantino in that he crafts great dialouge, and makes tv, and films you have to see because it's just the addictive pop culture mentality, that compels us to do so. And also because it's better than anything around.

It all boils down to one thing- IMAGINATION. Both Tarantino, and Joss have huge imaginations, and the dialouge to back up their wild stories.
Lets say a miracle happened and they got together to make a Western(A favorite genre among both), not so much seperate features like Grindhouse, but a whole epic western written, and directed by both? talk about your pop culture bliss. It would be so hot, it'd probably melt the theater.

I can see it now: River Tam, missing a leg, with Vera attached to the stump...

Oh. Wait. That was Rodriguez.

Damn. Perfectly good joke shot to gorram hell.

Probably would be a pretty good fit. Both Kill Bill and Death Proof are female empowerment films and we all know what a overriding theme that is in the Jossverse... I say give Gina a six shooter, put a twist on Clint Eastwood's "man with no name", then let her kill a town full of baddies while spouting snappy dialogue.

Woot! Glad it's not only me that sees the potential of banging the two together.

The Firefly 'Verse is exactly the sort of place Tarantino-esque characters would thrive in. In fact, if you are the type of writer inclined to steal from popular culture, it's a gift. (Looking back over my own stuff, there's at least one QT reference in virtually every fic.)

Of course, you have to love Rodriguez, Raimi, Carpenter, Woo, Burton...hell, even Spielberg in his less saccharine moments.

Hooray for Hollywierd, I say.

Interesting. Josh is a conversationist type of writer. I think both are. Interesting. And Tarantino just said he was going to work with someone he never worked with before in his last movie. Interesting.
