It does for me! My appreciation and love for this movie just grows each new time I watch it.
I finally feel what the original 'coats must have felt when they first screened it....after the first 15 minutes....when the music starts up and the camera takes you into the bridge with Mal there...man that just really gets me all choked up & teary now!

Does Serenity get better with each new viewing?

Yes, I believe it does.

First time I saw it I had not seen Firefly and did not even know it existed. Then, after watching the whole series then watching the BDM again it was like seeing a completely different movie and of course the death scenes for Book and Wash had MUCH more impact on me too. Each time I see it I notice something that I didn't before. Don't think I'll ever get tired of it, ever.

Not for me. The first time was amazing. I don't think the movie could ever churn up that much emotion again. I hadn't read a single spoiler. I was in a theater crowded with browncoats. The Joss intro before it started. Everything was just incredible. It was like everything I had hoped for minus finding out book's secret :-P

Yes it does.

Right from the off I stated how SERENITY is now my favourite film and it remains so. I just recently converted to people who had never heard of Firefly or SERENITY and now they are begging the studio for more.

What can you do.. It really is that good.

Go Firefly

It does for me but for a different reason. I was a new Browncoat and had just finished the series not long before I saw Serenity. I was still really missing jovial, mischievous Mal. I wasn't ready for bitter, angry Mal. It wasn't till the second viewing that I realized why he was so different.

It is now like an old friend, you enjoy the stories you already know but still learn a little something each time.

So the real question, if you are tring to convert a resistive non-browncoat: would you encourage Serenity first? I haven't had much luck when people can't get past it being a "failed" sci-fi TV series but haven't pushed Serenity because of my first experience.

... I'm in.

To be honest the first time I saw Serenity in the theatre I was thinking that it wasn't bad, not great, but not bad. Then I went out and bought the DVD's and watched them for the first time since they were originally aired then went and saw the movie again and it was WAY better. I guess my mind just needed a good refreshing on the verse to kick it back into gear.
