If you like King,have you read any Clive Barker ?
he is truly amazing..
And Peter Straub's Ghost Story is a good read..I like his work too..

Some of my favorites are

The Elric Saga by Michael Moorcock

The Dune Series..Frank Herbert

And I'm just getting into Robert Heinlen..Stranger In A Strange Land was incredible !

And of course,if you haven't read it yet , The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy series is fantabulous.

I've read Hitchhikers Guide and Dune.

The Elric Saga sounds familiar, but I may be thinking of something else.

I read Talisman and Black House that Straub did with King, but I've never thought to check out any of his books.

I wonder if Eric Van Lustbader with another book in The Pearl series, I think the last one I read was Mother of the Pearl or something like that.

Read most of Clive Barkers' books too.

You should check out Man's Best Friend the movie did not do the book justice, can't remember who wrote it though.

I find that most people tend to overlook the original classics..

Kudo's to you for reading them already !

Elric is a fantasy series..very well done ..it is part of a larger theme by the author called "The Eternal Champion "
If you ever played D&D or like that sort of stuff,you'll love it !

Bradbury is classic Sci-Fi..also very well worth it !

Cell was awesome, I'm just about done with Lisey's Story it's pretty good.

If you've never read or seen Fullmetal Alchemist you should really check it out, I cried a couple times during the series.

It's about two brothers, thier mother dies so they decide to bring her back using alchemy.

Read Vonnegut! The only book by him I didn't care for was Player Piano, other than that he's one of my favorites. Same with Tom Robbins...if none of you have read Tom Robbins you MUST start with either Jitterbug Perfume or Another Roadside Attraction(you'll thank me later).
Also, for sci-fi/fantasy try The Coldfire series by C.S. Friedman (Freidman?), The Deed of Paksinarrion by Elizabeth Moon (especially if you're a D&D fan...and like Paladins), anything by Weis & Hickman (more D&D type stuff), oooooooh - Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (a mix of Douglas Adams and Tolkien), Melanie Rawn's books are great, Kate Hobbs, Kate Elliot (!), Feist has a ton of books - all good, Tad Williams...if you need more names let me know (okay, tell Kelkhil to let me know).
For fiction: Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Morrow (wheeee!), Toni Morrison.
For historical fiction: Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire is about the battle of Thermopyle...very good...
I have alot more in my library! Let me (or Kelkhil) know if you (any of you) want author suggestions...if you can't tell, I'm an avid reader

Right after Carson was born was when the first books came out. After everyone raved about them, I made a solemn vow that I would not read them until Carson & I were able to read & discover them together.

He's now 6, and a great reading buddy. He's not at Harry Potter level yet. We've just started the Captain Underpants series, so I have a while to go before he's ready for HP.

Yeah me too. a couple weeks ago was work related and then I decided that I would save money and remodel the kitchen myself last week. Still woring on that one. So my dad tells me that Kurt Vonnegut, died.

So I ask him: "Who?"
He responds :"Slaughterhouse-Five"

And this is when the "Oh" kicks in. I never read Slaughterhouse-Five. I wish i had. I remember these long lists of classic american novels: Animal Farm,Slaughterhouse,Fear and Loathing etc that my friends would tell me when i asked what they read in H.S.

My backroads,backwards Puerto Rican HS we reading things that a US elementry school would get like Frankenstaien and Dracula- And that was in the advanced English class( the regular English classes were -Hello my name is. I come from etc etc)

Now my Spanish Class was totally different because it was Puerto Rico. We read Cervantes,Gabriel García Márquez and Jorge Luis Burgos- whom are great spanish literaries.

To this day i am trying to catch up with Fyodor Dostoevsky,Charles Dickens and much to my chagril Jane Austen (this woman KNEW how to write Agnst)

Oh, and Christopher Moore for wacked-out funny.

We have a nice little all-your-pagan-needs store near us. "7 Rays" has been in business for over 20 years, and some devoted shoppers bought it when the owner said they were going to retire. They took out the little windowfront cafe tables and tea stand that was not exactly thriving. That's OK, it makes more room for STUFF and BOOKS. There's some really beautiful carved wooden statuary there now. (You should SEE it!!)

Then there's the pretties...

Not so big on the cauldrons, but there's readers, regressers, reiki, and classes.
