Do you remember in the "Making of" documentary portion of the DVD set. . .Ron always seemed a tad whimsical about his experience. . .always teary-eyed. . .and he actually SAID, "I look forward to the day that I can (look back on this, think about this, talk about this) without crying."

You don't suppose maybe he would avoid signing just because he doesn't want to have to deal with the heartbreak of it ending again?

I'm serious!

And if this IS a possibility. . .how do we go about trying to get in touch with him to convince him that we NEED to see him as Sheperd Book again!!! Even if it is for ONE FINAL TIME?

I suppose that is a possibility, but I don't think it very likely. I think he may be having his people talk to Universal & Joss's people in order to hammer out the agreement. These things can take time & I believe that is the hold up.

Seems unlikely it's a movie deal just a one time movie deal. People in Hollywood don't take rummers of future shows seriously. He's an old timer of the hollywood system.Here check this out.

Yeah he was choked up at finialy being so well liked so late in his career but I doubt that is what is going on. Anyway it's only been a few days since the project was green-lighted so lets just wait a week or two.

I'm 32 years old. I recognized Ron Glass as soon as I saw his name in the opening credits. Barney Miller was one of my fave shows, actually, and his character was great.

I know that we're all just freaking out. . .I actually equate our attitudes towards the movie. ..

"Omigod. . where's Ron and Alan?"

"Omigod. . .will mainstream scifi fans like the fact that there's no sound in space?"

"Omigod. . .will Universal make "From the Creator of Buffy" a market point, and drive folks away?"

Omigod. . .omigod. . .omigod, listen to ourselves. We sound EXACTLY like my beautiful betrothed (her name is Mahealani, by the way), and I as soon as we set the date for our wedding.

"Omigod. . .caterer!"
"Omigod. . .tuxedos!"
"Omigod. . .invitations!"

Let's all just take a deep breath. . .pop in Disk One again and remember that we did the impossible, and that makes us mighty.

LOL...if I can give you some advice, Stat, as one recently-married-guy to one soon-to-be-married guy, don't believe it when anyone says a wedding is for both of you, even if -- especially if -- it's your bride-to-be. Weddings are for the brides, no ifs-ands-or-buts. Give her your opinion when she asks for it, and of course help out in whatever way she wants, but she gets the final say -- down to what color your and your groomsmens' cumberbunds should be.

p.s. Oh, and the only things you really have to worry about far in advance are reserving the location and getting the dress. Most everything else can wait.

Browncoat1 said it best - it's only been a week. We just need to practice patience. This movie didn't get greenlighted overnight, the whole process is guaranteed be long and excruciating.

Writing is easy - all you have to do is stare at a blank piece of paper until blood forms on your forehead. Publishing? That's hard. Movies have to be the same way, multiplied by a factor of $35 million.

Incidentally, most of the mainstream science-fiction fans I know (and the science geeks in particular among them) LOVE the reality of no sound in space.

"Hey. . .I'll be the guy in black standing next to the preacher." When she re-watched "Serenity" recently, she said that she could see me as Mal.

"I wear the tuxedo, and I get married. Now go run your little wedding."

We died laughing.

You are exactly right about wedding anxiety. Your bride to be has a lovely hawaiian name, Mahealani translates as "moonlit sky" from what I can find. Is she from the islands? I went to high school on oahu... Moanalua HS.

Static, sweets, from a recently married woman - When she asks for your honest opinion, give it - and be prepared to be overruled. Once the wedding is over, she will probably collapse in relief!

One absolutely ESSENTIAL item - and do NOT let plans continue without this (believe me!!!) - She needs to have SOMEONE ELSE designated as the "go to" person if anyone needs anything on the wedding day. I know this not only from my own experience, but also from various friends' & relatives' weddings I've been to. The bride & groom have enough on their plates on "the big day" - someone else needs to handle the details if anything doesn't go exactly according to plan. (And something - even if it's minor - will not be exactly as planned... Roll with it.

) For example, if the CD player doesn't work, let 'em tell it to the "go to" person... Not the bride & groom... Etc.

Most importantly (and I'm sure both of you know this), this is YOUR day (yours & hers) - concentrate on each other and all the fiddly details will fall away... (insert romantic "Awwww!" here

)

Bridesmaid dresses: Mahealani's a costume designer. Prolly gonna be the first bridesmaid dresses in history that they'll want to wear AGAIN.

Rehearsal Dinner/Venue: My mom and dad are tracking that. . .

"Go To" person: Got it covered. Our bestest friend is going to be 'The Wedding Planner' so. . .

Weddings and funerals - never have much liked either. Thought mine might be different, but nope, not really. Ok - it was different, I just don't have any fonder memories of it than any other wedding. Though the cake ROCKED!!! Now the honeymoon - that was awesome! Best vacation I have EVER had!! And my husband and I are still very happily married - I just don't like weddings.

I love Barney Miller!!!! I'm 34, and can very distinctly remember watching that show. When I was in college there was a channel doing re-runs of those episodes, and I was in stitches! So either the show is just that good, or I haven't changed all that much over the years. I'm opting for the "shows just that good" explanation

I don't think Ron would choose to not do the movie, in avoidance of emotional upheaval. Remember him saying stuff like fan adoration, etc. should happen to him more often*? Well - the movie's a guarantee of that!
