Maybe there are other discussions about this i`m not quite sure. Let me know.
I want to see more of Firefly and thats for sure. I watched the last episode yesterday and what can i say? It`s the best series i`ve ever watched. For that reason i still want more of Firefly. And if we do list of signatures and show them how much we want it back i think we have a big possibility to affect. If we have thousands of names they can`t just ignore us.
DO you have any ideas, please write them here!

Together we can make this possible.

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

Petitions could easily be the most ignored things on the web. That, and spam.

But, glad to see that you're one of us, and welcome to the site! There're ideas floating around in the Guerrilla Marketing area if you want to check those out.

Yeah you got a point there but i think it`s worth a try anyway. Even if i need to send them two letters per day, handwritten or something i`ll do it.
Thank you YINYANG. I will check it out.

Hi MARTINT.
Once you volunteer for the Browncoats, you're signing up to spread the word, but be polite and respectful of others while doing so - not everyone will see it the way you do IMO, handwritten requests have a better chance, ensure its neat and the spelling/grammer is correct.

Are you involved in the various voting threads ? If not, we could use a hand at TV_Vote in our efforts to catch Xena, see http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=28052 there's even niffty software to remind you of them all (Flyvote).

YINYANG, I partly agree, usually petitions, on-line polls and the like have no effect, but sometimes they achieve things and they can be a bit of fun as well.

Exhibit 1, SFX poll just before Easter. The buzz that created when Serenity ousted Star Wars from #1 spot resulted in increased sales of both Serenity (202 to 92) & F/F (99 to 26) on Amazon, in the UK the BDM went to #15. In the longer run (& we are in for the longer run), this increases the fan base which in turn makes it a little more likely the networks and studios will give us another season or BDM. Until that happens, keep spreading the word.

Hello MartinT:

This my patent statement on the future of Firefly.

The people here are all hopeful for more episodes of Firefly. The more members we have the better the chances of getting noticed.

Don't forget to vote.

Fox tossed Firefly to the ground and forgot about it. But you found it and picked it up. You recognised the value. It is the little gems that burn the brightess and Firefly burns oh so brightly.

Stole that quote from "Blade Runner".

Anyway. You now have gift that may be small, but it is precious. Enjoy and share.

SHAMELESS

Just want to clarify -
Joss himself has said that Firefly will never be back - the show Firefly, that is. It's moved on past that point, and even if Book and Wash hadn't died, it still wouldn't be possible to just... pick up where they left off in the show, with the EXACT same feel and EXACT same stuff, etc, etc. Joss is hoping for more movies. But as for the exact show, resurrecting? Nope. That's not to say that we'll never get a new show about the Firefly verse, maybe even with some of the original characters!

Just wanted to clear that up without providing false hope or destroying existing hope.

Welcome!

I could see Joss creating a sequel of Firefly. It may not be the same, but Joss would be there and that would mean a great show.

Firefly-Serenity

Hi, MartinT. Welcome to the site. Together we've been making this possible for awhile now. The veteran Browncoats who have been here the longest bought the FF DVD's, helped make an audience for the movie and then Mary Parent, Joss and Universal gave us the BDM. Right now things are quiet, but we're still hoping for a sequel.

First off, since you're here you need to have your browncoat... a sort of welcome to new folks we do around here...

*hands MartinT a browncoat that fits just right*

Online petitions, letter writing campaigns and email campaigns are just some of the methods we've used. They've not proved to be very effective, as really it comes down to the studio deciding to give us another movie. Since the first one didn't do very well, it's a long shot. But I'm a diligent kind of a gal, so I'm in for the long haul.

To be frank, as many folks have mentioned here, the possibility of Firefly itself returning is for all practical purposes not possible. Joss has said Firefly is over, Nathan said so himself on his myspace page recently, Ron Glass advised fans at a recent con to give Firefly ( he didn't say a sequel )up.

I think our future lies with Universal and another movie if they decide to do it. I'm not sure other than sharing the love of Firefly with folks we love and helping other folks to come to love it that there's much we can do or have an impact on. But there are some very positive things we can do...

Encourage the SciFi channel to show Firefly in marathons and such, as it brings new folks to the 'Verse.

Take part in the charity screenings either by attending or organizing one in June when the entire fandom does it.

Share Firefly/Serenity gently with all the folks you know that you think might like it.

March with the 76th Battalion at DragonCon in September.

Go to cons, shindigs, join your local Browncoat group and enjoy yourself. There is fanfic, beautiful art and much fun to be had as a Browncoat. Look around, you'll find all you need to get started on this site. If you have any questions, one of us will be happy to help.

MICJWELCH

The biggest thing that any of us can do is just what has been mentioned here - tell other people about the show. When movies make money, they get sequels. (So be sure to buy the two disc set of the movie when it comes out!)

And FYI- there is a comic book you should check out that's set between the series and the movie. Rumor has it there will be another one out later this year. And if you just can't get enough of the 'verse (like the rest of us) then you might want to check out the Serenity RPG books. There's a video game in the works, but it could be a while.

Thank you for all the answers.
So guys. If i start something up here, are you willing to help me? My thought is to receive handwritten signatures by mail (scanner) or fax. It`s the easiest way i think. What do you think?
And i started a board on imdb:

By the way, i have plans starting a new home page in keeping with "savefirefly.com". So please, leave suggestions or criticize me if you think i can do something better.

Firefly itself may not come back as a show or what it was, but I do think that if we get a massive handwritten petition going (as MartinT said, faxing, scanning, etc.) for Firefly to start back up as a show, which is an almost complete impossibility at this point, we will have a greater chance for a sequel to the BDM. If we just ask for a lower goal, then we may not gain everything possible out of this. It's like when you haggle at the market and you're the one selling the goods. You have a higher price on your merchandise, they offer a lower one, and you settle somewhere in the middle. Even if we don't get anywhere with any of this stuff, it can't hurt to try. How do we know if it's impossible (which, realistically and unfortunately, getting the show back is damn near close to it) if we've never done one exactly like this before?

And yeah, MartinT, I'm willing to help when/with what I can.

You talking to me or MartinT? I realize that Firefly as it was is almost completely impossible that it will ever have new series episodes (realistically, almost no chance, theoretically, there is the slightest possibility that on some insanely minute off chance something may happen - you've gotta consider everything here), but, to the best of my knowledge, this exact thing hasn't been tried on a large scale. And if we ask for the show back, which we almost certainly won't get, we'd at least have a chance at getting another BDM. You ask for the greatest thing but actually anticipate the one right below it so your hopes won't really be crushed. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that another movie isn't an impossible notion.

Doesn't surprise me. You mean the whole thing with faxing/scanning the hand written signatures and letters? I haven't been really involved for long (had the show for a long time, watched it a shit load, but not actually done much until recently), so don't treat me like a retard (not that you are) because I don't know exactly what people have tried. I just hope for another movie. The show too, but that's not a very realistic goal at this point in time. Can't hurt to try again, can it?

I also believe that getting another BDM is more likely (well very more likely) than a return to the series. While we all would love to see a Firefly return, it just wont be the same as when we left, it been to long and for those who say restart it with new characters. That just doesn't feel right to me, I want to see Nathan play Mal with Jewel as Kaylee not start over with new people. That's why i think a sequel should eb what we are going after, to let our Big Damn Heroes tell their story.

Agreed. I don't think I'd be able to watch a show set in the 'verse that wasn't Firefly. It'd feel...kind of like voyeurism, I guess. Intruding where you shouldn't be. And the show without Book and Wash would just be too weird. That's why ask for the show so they satisfy us with another movie instead.

This has been done before, not a bad idea to do it again (keep it fresh in folks minds). Check out some of the threads in the Guerilla Marketing board here at fff.net (some other great ideas in there for spreading the word). Also, don't forget about the upcoming Serenity Now/Equality Now charity screenings coming up in a couple of months; raising a lot of money for a good cause always draws positive attention.

Spreading the word is a numbers game & we need to use each opportunity we find. Doesn't really matter if it wasn't successful last time it was tried. I recall a story about Robert the Bruce (took over from William Wallace aka Braveheart) while on the run from the English he took refuge in a cave and watched a spider trying to spin a web. Time & again it tried and failed but finally it succeeded. The motto of course being: If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again. He did and was ultimatly successful as will we be providing we keep trying.

The Serenity Now showings are a terrific opportunity to recruit new browncoats. While its a given that as many Browncoats as possible should attend, try to bring at least 1 non-BC with you.

Never gonna happen!!! I realize this NOW!! It's the best show that is why. If the dumbasses just checked out Netflix they would see pages and pages of 5 star reviews. With all the lame shows why not bring this one back?? THe movie was a success. But killing off key characters I think shows it will NEVER be a series again.
