Could DRIVE'S (potential) success mean anything for SERENITY sequels?

We've discussed how Joss's leaving the Wonder Woman project and how that it would or wouldn't've meant for sequels, but what about Nathan's success? Especially since he's as passionate about the world of FIREFLY as any of us...would any success DRIVE might bring (like, say, blockbuster movies & mega-stardom) have any bearing on potential sequels? This country seems to (more often than not) celebrate actors/actresses, rather than directors, anyway.

If HE gets popular on the show* then he can probably use that to push for a sequel

*If the show bombs but everyone loves his character it's good, if the show takes off but everyone hates his character it doesn't help.

If "Drive" does get popular we may see another movie. Of course the TV series would have to wait until Nathan is free from doing episodes of "Drive".

No, I don't think so.

It's all over, for at least 10 years imho.

i really, really... i mean really hate to be a buzz-kill, but folks - this is FOX we're talking about - don't let them fool ya. I don't trust them for one minute - Granted, Drive is a totally different type of program than Firefly, but i would not be surprised if FOX pulls the rug out from under it just like FF... They have no heart - they are mindless automatons fed only by an insatiable lust for money. I hope Drive is a giant hit and propels Nathan, Joss, Tim and all the cast and crew into the spotlight that they deserve….. but, FOX - damn…. i’m just sayin…..

I'm not saying that it will get us a sequel, but it leaves the door open for more to come and see a sequel to Serenity (if or when we get one).

People who love Drive will probably say "Hey look at this movie, oh and that guy from drive is in it! I'll go buy the first movie and everything connected to it".

Well maybe not that far but you get the idea.

If "Drive" is popular than it will be profitable. FOX won't pass on a show making them money. They have a good team and they will add twists and sudden revelations to light it up.

Now that we have a few clues to personalities hidden away by some of the characters they can focus on weaving stories with all kinds of subplots and unexpected events.

I feel in my bones this show has a chance. Of course I'm predjudice. Have to admit that. But I see no reason why this show should be pulled. Just have to keep an eye on the number of viewers. If it holds a decent share than it will last.

It cant hurt, unless captains ego gets huge due to success and he decides he doesnt want us anymore. If Captains star shines then at very least they will have a big name to attach to Serenity 2, something they didnt have for the first one obviously.

"And I think calling him that is an insult to the psychotic lowlife community."

I really can't see Nathan ever getting an overblown ego.
