http://www.myspace.com/nathanfillion Nathan Fillion has a new blog up. But he has set his myspace to private in what I think is a lurker recruitment effort. His myspace friends can read the blog. Don’t you want to be Nathan Fillion’s friend?

And then I can’t repost the blog information because he has previously asked us not to repost his blog.

THEREFORE IT IS A SECRET MISSION!

Here is what I am doing:

1. Talking about Drive to friends and co-workers. “I’m really liking this new TV show Drive on FOX. And now you can watch the episodes online for FREE too.” I’ve written the http://www.myspace.com/driveonfox website down for several Drive interested people.
2. Posting about Drive stuff online and mentioning http://fox.com/drive and http://www.myspace.com/driveonfox .
3. I put up some signs at work using a screen shot of http://fox.com/drive as a starting point and mentioning the above websites.
4. I purchased legal downloads for $1.99 each of all available episodes of Drive.

Legal downloads of Drive episodes can be purchased from Amazon unbox, itunes and Direct2Drive.

http://www.direct2drive.com/Search.aspx?SearchTerm=drive

http://www.amazon.com/The-Starting-Line/dp/B000PH2DTE

And if you got a computer monitor that needs a wallpaper to promote Drive

Drive wallpaper with cast: http://fox.com/drive/features/

Well I don't have a myspace account. So, I guess no secret mission for me.

Here's what I'm doing.
1.) Joking with friends at work about how bad Drive's premise is. Also making fun of how unrealistic the characters are.
2.) Sending friends links to the episodes on myspace telling them to check out that one hot chick but not to get invested in the show cause it will be cancelled due to poor ratings.
3.) Hoping that the show gets canned quick so Nathan can move on to bigger and better things and networks.

I haven't had a chance to check around, so pardon me if this question has long been answered. But....
Is there a DRIVE banner I could put in a sidebar? Kinda like the Waitress one.
I don't have much of a chance to promote anything. But there's always the blog.

I doubt very seriously that Drive's failure will necessarily help Nathan to go on to bigger and better things, Zeek. In fact, like the loss of Wonder Woman for Joss, it might be a bad thing for Nathan, Tim and the rest of the folks on this show's crew. I really don't wish ill for them all, do you really?

After what Nathan has done for fans, being so open, kind and considerate to us at B3...after Tim came to B3 and signed autos for free and answered questions and made us all feel like family, there's no way I could do what you've listed.

In fact, I respectfully request that you do what my Mom taught me to do in situations like this...
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

The kind of loyalty that Nathan showed us at B3 precludes any disloyalty from me.

I don't wish ill for any of them. Except Fox in this situation. In fact in interviews it almost sounds like Tim designs shows with failure in mind these days. He almost sounds like he enjoys writing mini-seasons and then moving on to the next project. As for Nathan, I'd never stand idly by and watch a friend hurt themselves. I don't know why I'd treat Nathan any differently. I can't imagine this show is going to help him in any way. We already know it's getting low ratings and I've seen plenty of posts already where people just blast the whole thing from top to bottom. I'd much rather see him on a show where he can impress some folk.

I have no idea what B3 is, but I have seen Nathan in person before. He's a great guy and he's the only reason I've even tuned in to Drive at all. Blind loyalty is never something I'm going to offer though. It's not like a bad role is his fault either. He's doing a fine job acting the part.

I honestly can't say that this is a cause worth fighting for. With Firefly I can say that anyone who gives it an actual shot will most likely fall in love with it. With Drive that just isn't the case.

Handed out two more pieces of paper with http://www.myspace.com/driveonfox on it to Drive interested people.

I think that makes 13.

Remembered to write http://fox.com/drive on the paper this time.

One person has like a race car. He wasn't that interested until I mentioned the 72 Dodge Challenger.

Other person was already watching Drive but was going to be away next week...but he is taking his computer with him. So he can watch it online.

SHAMELESS

Wait.......... Drive is getting low ratings? Nonsense! It got a full front page of the Life and Arts section of the Seattle PI, where they went, "Yay, this show is awesome! The premise isn't fantastic, and it isn't super original, and since Fox f'ed up Firefly (yes, the story was told in one sentence - our mention made me happy), don't pin all your hopes and dreams on seeing all 13 episodes, since it IS being aired on Fox - but this show is definitely worth it!"

Low rating? Not in my book. Overall, it was a positive review that wants more, but knows it might not get more.

Me? I'm freakin' HOOKED.

------------------------------------------
RPG launcher bought in third world country illegally - $10
Landmines - $50 per
Attack/track dogs bred 1st class - $250-500 per
Highpowered assault rifles - $600 per
The look on your face when I show up on your doorstep with a bigfoot - ... Priceless

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, I don't have a MySpace account and really have not seen a need to get one. So, I can't read Nathan's blog, but I can gather from the above posts it is about Drive and how it isn't doing so well ratings wise.

Personally I had a gut feeling going into Drive it might not catch on. Let's face it, Tim's luck with Fox has not been anything remotely resembling good and it is Fox afterall, the network that wouldn't know a hit if it walked up and punched them in the face. I watched the episode on Monday anyway, even though I missed the 2 hour pilot on Sunday. I liked what I saw. I wasn't blown away, but it was enjoyable. I wish I could get the pilot to play for me on the Drive page, but it just won't after several days of trying.

My point is I am supporting Nathan and Tim, even if it means I have to watch that most hated of networks, Fox. My hatred of Fox goes all the way back to them cancelling Space Above and Beyond. Then they cancelled Firefly, Wonderfalls and The Inside. I truly do not care for Fox and as a matter of personal protest I do not watch them, but for Nathan and Tim I am making an exception. I don't see why you can't make the same exception Zeek.

No one wants to see Fox fail and get hit in the bank accounts as much as I do, but I sure as hell don't want it to happen at the expense of Nathan and Tim, not to mention the rest of the cast and crew. This is not about Fox, this is about helping Tim's show Drive be a success. This is about helping Nathan keep his job and the rest of the cast and crew working. If I can get past my despising Fox to do it, anyone can, including you Zeek.

So, the Captain's asking us for our help. I say any browncoat who ain't willing to answer his call, well, reckon you just got to be answerable to yourself and whatever fuzzy power you answer to. Me, I aim to help Nathan.

Keep the faith browncoats. Keep flyin'!

Look at it this way, the average Joe likely already views browncoats as fanatical nutjobs. If we go around campaigning for everything under the sun without taking a second to think about whether it's actually worth campaigning for, then they're absolutely right. Personally I'm going to make an educated judgment and spare my friends and co-workers from the works that aren't worth their time. Respecting other people and their time is the way I'm going to go.

Now for the record I did watch all the episodes and I'll continue to watch as long as How I Met Your Mother is in reruns, but I'm not going to campaign for the show.

Zeek,

The average Joe doesn't know who/what Browncoats are. I'm promoting Drive because I love Drive. It is a different love then Firefly/Serenity. I don't know if I would have loved Drive if Nathan wasn't in it.

Keep watching as long as you can and maybe you will end up liking the show more than you think.

But if you talk to anybody about the show at least talk about Nathan's great acting ability. You did notice that right? And the cool car?

And this, coming from the guy who is the most anti-copyright in our 'verse here. Just think people ought to have asked first is all. Sorry it had to come to the man having to set someone straight about it before people actually showed him that respect.

Welcome New Browncoat! So how did you come across Firefly/Serenity and http://www.fireflyfans.net/ .

We know Nathan Fillion knows about http://www.fireflyfans.net/ because he has posted elsewhere before about wanting someone to post here. So it is very possible that he reads stuff here. But then he is very busy with his new TV show.

Hey Shameless,

The Seattle PI & the Seattle Times was one of the few Newspapers who gave 'Serenity' a huge review in their entertainment sections when it first came out.

Makes me wonder if they have Browncoats in their office or if they just have good taste

Anyway....just of the many things I love about Seattle!
