You have to admit that some of the effects are corny tho. Lots of viewers see them and then run the opposite direction

PS. I'm a large dog person - irish deer hound
(Jumps out makes strange sound - runs into engine room gets hit by a squib and locks door)

Yeah, but I love the books and even though the show doesn't strictly follow the books, I love it. I mean I've seen worse effects ( any made for Sci Fi channel movie)!
