I have been talking to Tench at the Naro in Norfolk about holding a screening on the 23rd of June. He is a hair on the trepidatious side, wondering if we would have enough support locally for the screening. I told him I thought we would, but that I would actively seek a quick interested parties poll.

If you are interested in attending or assisting with the organization please let me know. The sooner the better as Tench is booking the May & June schedules now.

My name is Todd Grissom and you can contact me at todd.grissom@gmail.com.]

Who's BrownCoat1 and where do I find him?

As for those who wonder why this isn't a Northern Virginia Browncoats event, there a few hours North of us here at the beach.

I think you have the perfect location, squarely between the screening in Arlington, VA and the one in Raleigh, NC. I can't think of any other screenings in-between.
Browncoat1 is in Richmond -- drove to Arlington last year for the screening (I think).

Yeah, I was planning on driving to Raleigh when I figured there have to be enough people here to support a screening.

So I talked to some people I know and have a core group of about ten who can help with whatever needs to be done, but first I need to convince Tench that we can fill his theatre.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Yep, I live in Richmond. I made it to the Arlington screening last year.

A screening in Va Beach would be awesome. I'm a bit too far away to coordinate, but would definitely attend and bring browncoats with me to attend a screening.

I would definately be there if this can be pulled together. I can produce at least five others, fans if not 'coats. I am not in a position to organize, however.

Sasquatch,
Just out of curiosity, why does the theater need to know how many people you can produce?
Do you mean they won't book you unless you can produce fans? That's preposterous.
Last year I didn't know a single Browncoat in this area. I posted flyers and got nearly 100 people to come. And that was with only 3 weeks of planning.
I would dare say you could accomplish the same. Serenity seems to be a big hit within the military community -- Norfolk is the ideal location to tap into that audience.
Our theater has different sized auditoriums. About 4 days before the screening, they make us choose an auditorium size based on our current & projected ticket sales. Could you work out that sort of deal?

It's not a new thing, for a venue to want some sense of what to expect.

I am looking to use an "art-house" type theater in Ghent, and I have not worked out the details of us renting the place or just getting tench to show Serenity and pass a hat. This is just where I am getting started, and I guess I want to try to gauge the interest myself.

I have my circle of browncoats, and we have been looking for others, but being old, preoccupied with jobs/family/kids, etc we just haven't worked beyond our individual comfort zones for awhile. We are trying to expand our verse and thought the Naro would be a good start. And when I went looking for someone to talk to I went to the only theater owner I know.

Its all still in the prelim stages. It will happen in VB/Norfolk, its just a matter of where and how big its going to be.

Well if it comes together I and at least 6-8 browncoats from Richmond area would make it down.

Keep us posted on details.

I've since spoken to Tench, the owner of The Naro, about this. He vaugely recalls an email to the effect, but that's all.

He seemed responsive to the idea, suggesting that perhaps next year, as this June's calender is already set, someone might contact him again, sooner.

I couldn't organize this year but by then I think that I will be able.

Until then, unless some sneaky 'coat has arranged an alternate venue, (can stealth material be brown?) the Norfolk, Va. SerenityNow screening is land-locked.
