In an essay entitled "The SImple Art of Murder," Raymond Chandler describes what the perfect private detective is, in his estimation -- essentially a tarnished knight in an unfriendly world.

And I quote:

"Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid. The detective must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor. He talks as the man of his age talks, that is, with rude wit, a lively sense of the grotesque, a disgust for sham, and a contempt for pettiness."

Remind you folks of anyone we know? *grins*

Most Klingons would make horrible Klingons. Very few of them seemed to truly understand the concept of honor -- except of course for Worf -- and he was Starfleet, too. *grins*

I think Jayne was actually learning the value of honor and other human values during the course of Firefly -- so by the end of Serenity, I'm pretty sure he "got' it.
