JEDIJAYNE

Hello there all.

I am a long-time reader/lurker, first-time poster here on the .NET. I am happy to be here. I can't tell you how many times I have read something here on the forums and thought to myself, "I should sign up and say something." So here I am.

I am a Browncoat who first learned about the 'Verse back in '05 when I heard about this movie based on a "failed" TV show and how that was somehow special. Being a big Star Wars fan since the first time I saw A New Hope in '77, I had been a bit disenchanted with the most recent installments (to say the least). So I went to the theater to see Serenity with the hope of a good story. Good lord. I knew that after finding myself laughing out loud as I met Wash and Mal for the first time on the bridge (right after having my eyes bug out during the rescue scene/review), I just knew that I had found something special. The movie ended and I sat there going "That was Way better than Star Wars... and one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen!" I also knew that I had to get out and find me some Firefly. What special hell was I in to have not seen that show when it was on???

Nowadays, I keep working to convert new people to the cause (with pretty good success), get giddy over the shiny t-shirts I order (they are my favorites, no doubt), grumble at the continued criminal ineptitude of certain TV execs (Can you say Drive?) and generally think positive thoughts about another BDM with our BDHs or some incarnation thereof.

So that is my story in a nutshell, and I am sticking to it. Have a shiny day everyone.

Would you tell me, please which way I ought to walk from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

Hey!

Welcome. You're gonna love it here, (well I guess you know that already). The greatest thing about signing up is that soon you'll have your own virtual Browncoat. Shiny! And I'm sure FloralBun' will be round with strawberries and Mudders milk at some point, (bless her fuzzy little heart).

Hiya JediJayne, I too loved the original Star Wars, sequels not so much, prequels what the was Lucas thinking SW was in a league of its own until Serenity - River kicks Anakin's butt anyday, anytime.

Thanks folks, I do appreciate it.

Berries? You mean real berries? Not them synthetic reconstituted cat-turds that pass for fruit otherwise? Gee, thanks! I won't say a word.

As for my contribution to the galley... well look in the sack and try not to squeal too loudly (might spook the cattle). Yeah, those are real oranges... I, uh, liberated them from this crotchety old hag on Whitefall a couple of days back who did not like to share. What can I say? Sharing can be a beautiful thing, dong ma?

Anyhow, I'm just gonna settle over here and start peeling one for myself. You guys help yourselves.

Oh, and thanks again!

Hey, JediJayne,

I've been a bit busy lately and falling down on my job as the storeroom clerk ( well, I coulda fibbed and said I was short on 'coats, but I didn't, that's gotta count for somethin' right? ).

Here's your browncoat *hands JediJayne a browncoat from across her arm*

Howdy, Shimauma! Welcome to the 'Verse!

*hands Shimauma a browncoat too*

There are some really fine fanfics on this board.
Have you tried Jetflair's? Her ongoing saga of Mal and Zoe during the war is something to behold.

Don't forget to tell everyone you know about Firefly/Serenity. Because they'll likely love it too!

Can you help explain to me what a milkshake is and how it refers to FutureMrs.?

I'm a bit confused. Not being from these parts and what not. Is it something drinkable, stirable, shakeable? Do you use a straw or is it proper to use a spoon? What is the proper form when enjoying a milkshake? Do you sip, one gulp? That sort of thing.

If anyone could help a poor innocent foreign lad it would greatly enhance US relations in the world.

Many thanks!

DONCOAT

A typical milk shake would be ice cold milk, ice cream, and chocolate syrup whipped up in a blender. Usually sipped through a big straw, though some use a spoon if it's a really thick shake.

There are other flavors... and the fast food places don't even call what they serve "milk" shakes, since they don't bother to use milk anymore.

Welcome JediJayne! Glad you've decided to delurk. I see FollowMal's been through. That coat looks right shiny on you.

Don't feel so bad about not finding the series. The Network That Shall Not be Named pretty much did everything possible to make it fail and some local affiliates treated it even worse.

As it sounds like you're in at least my age bracket, let me offer you a glass of Irish whiskey to sip.

Welcome home, JediJayne!

You really should check out the 'Wardrobe Malfunction' series. Jayne figures rather prominently in it. It's as much fun as 'Jaynestown.' Really.

I can't really help you more as I tend towards Mal-centric fic myself, but there a number of folks here who adore Jayne, and I'm sure they'd be able to point ya in the right direction.
