I thought I'd stick a thread out here for folks to pass along Mother's Day greetings and stories. Obviously, the best title for this would be the reply we never saw for Jayne's gift (pretty cunning, don't you think).

Anyway, I'll start. I am adopted, so I have the distinction of having both the mother who had me and the one who raised me to thank on Mother's Day. I usually see my birth mother about 3-4 times a year. My adopted mother died right before I got out of high school. I miss her. My Dad got tired of waiting for me to get married and move out, so eventually he did, so now I have a stepmother as well(and she's a heck of a cook). So how's that for a starting tale to this thread. Come on, Browncoats. Show your Momma's some love !

So who is he?
He's my husband.
Well who in the damn galaxy ain't!

Wow! Well, that many Mom's are a blessing!

I'm boring. I grew up in a home with my Mom and Dad and no extra parents along the way. So I'm blessed too, in a different way.

My Mom is the strongest woman I know. My Dad did two tours in VietNam and one tour in Korea while we were growing up and my Mom raised us, worked on the farm and even milked a cow ( yes, by hand! ) everyday, while we were growing up.

If I'm half the woman she is, I'm happy!

to all the Mom's out there!

REDHEAD

If I could just get my mom to watch Firefly, she'd be perfect.

She's not only a saint but the best choc chip cookie maker in the whole 'verse.

So I'm sending a virtual choc. chip cookie(She taught me well) to all you moms in the name of my mom.

Mmm, it soft and pale (with or without nuts, I make both kinds)with loads of choc chips. Now, take a bite (even if you're on a diet, its okay this once). Its soft and almost creamy and it melts in your mouth.

Ahh, its gone already.

Hope you enjoyed.

FUTUREMRSFILLION

My mom was an emotionally abused farm girl from West Va when she married my dad at 18. By the age of 19 she was living in a converted shepherds shack in New Foundland giving birth to my brother and by the age of 25 was living on a mountain top in Eritrea giving birth to me.

She raised my brothers and me to be respectful and loving. At the age of 36 she was living as a divorced woman with 3 teenasgers and a granddaughter.

She never went to college, but is the most intelligent and well read person I know. At the age of 34 she got a job as a GS 4 in the supply department at GSA. She retired as the only female GM15 below the Mason-Dixon line, and has more awards than any of the Navy lifers I know.

All the while being the best mother and best friend I could ever hope for.

SISTER

My mom was born and raised in Altoona, Pa...home of the largest roundhouse in the world (it's a railroad thing!). My sister and I always believed she was a Welch witch (being able to read our minds at will!)... While my dad was the family disciplinarian..you NEVER wanted to piss mom off!! I remember the day we finished off the milk in our cereal BEFORE she had her coffee!! Nothing much could frighten me after THAT. Seriously, she is an amazing woman; had to bury three children...and the love of her life, my dad; and she is still quite the 'pistol'..having remarried. She taught me to deeply respect others beliefs, to treat others as we would like to be treated, how two people who love one another behave together; so much more than that..while not as sharp as she once was, I am grateful to have had such a wild, passionate, and powerful woman as my mom.

Your mother sounds like she was made of tuff stuff and was a hero to boot. My mother was a total creep, and I wished I could have off-shore dumped her like Conner did, but God took care of that for me.

God, karma, however you want to put it, what goes around will eventually come back around, and if someone deals out hurt, it usually bites them in the butt down the line.
or as our Captain put it:

"Wheel never stops turning, Badger."

So who is he?
He's my husband.
Well who in the damn galaxy ain't!
