More or less past the mandate (well, we will be by the time I post mention of this thread's existence) at http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=28662

So the fire danger season is now over, so on the weekend, 9 out of 10 people decided it would be a good idea to turn their rubbish heaps into bonfires. The 10th person would then panic (thinking it was still fire danger season) and call us in to deal with the 'grass/scrub fire'. So that was my Mother's Day weekend. Today, it's raining like buggery and there's thunderstorms and flash floods rolling across the state.

Yay us.

On a far less serious note, the boys and girls at Station 20 (otherwise known as SA Metropolitan Fire Service Headquarters) put together this charming little video for all the world to see at

Enjoy the new thready goodness.

still getting my head round the hole mary sue thing (not read much fan fiction so had to google the term) and not sure I like it as a term as any writer (and I have been know to scribble the odd novel [first is bad and second isn't finished]) puts part of themselves into any character whether they realise it or not. Can't see anyway round a certain amount of this in writing fan fiction but never tried it....

hey RedLava

*gets him an iced mocha, and makes one for himself, pouring a more than ample portion of vanilla vodka into his own*

LA - you should catch them and train them to fight off would-be attackers. :) That, or eat them.

RedLava - PR got sick enough of her job and the BS she was having to deal with there, so she went and got a new one (similar or better pay, IIRC). One of the main changes is that it is a "regular hours" job, so she has had to adjust to that.

Whimper! Please, oh please can I have one too? Not had chance for a drink all day and my mouth feels like the bottom of a parrot's cage.

Since I've just been having a teenager swearing at me two inches from my face would you mind putting a tot of something in that coke?!

So, when can we expect to hear from PR about her first day at work then? I'm dying to hear how it went!

If I don't get to chat before then, wish me luck for my scary teaching observation tomorrow. Get to find out if I'm really cut out for this work!
