Hi,

I just created an account on this site and wanted to say hello to all you existing members. I found Firefly and Serenity few months ago when I was at my friends house and we had nothing to do so we decided to rent a movie. First we found nothing interesting but then I saw this movie called Serenity and we thought that we could rent it as we didn´t find anything more interesting. Well, it was one lucky coincidence.

Soon after I borrowed Firefly dvd box from my friend, then I bought the box and Serenity and the rest is history as they say :D. My coat is firmly turning brown now.

But now when I got into writing I could as well tell something about myself (nobody is probably interested but I´ll do it anyway ;))

I´m Finnish (no you understand why my English is so bad ;)) and I´m 19 years old boy. I enjoy miniature war games and modelling, painting and sculpting miniatures. My dream is to build a Serenity miniature and sculpt the crew but I´m not good enough yet. I don´t want to desecrate such a great ship and crew by making ugly models of them. But maybe in few years or so I´ll be good enough and when I get something done I´ll promise to post pictures to this site (If they are cool enough that I dare to show them to you ;))

Hello THEELEVENTHCHARACTER glad to have you aboard. I’m like BROWNCOAT1, I really enjoy hearing how folk find their way to Firefly/Serenity. Turns out a night hunting a movie to rent was a good one right? I remember telling my wife when we had seen the Serenity trailer at the theater that it looked like something I’d really like (we were there to see Harry Potter at the time). We never made it to the theater to see Serenity and the first few times I saw the Serenity dvds in the rental store it was only the package, the movies were all checked out. We finally were able to rent one and let me tell you it was the BDMovie I’d seen in a long time.

Anyhoo, welcome to the boat. You’re an artist, that’s great.There are several ppl here that are as well. I’d really like to see your artwork. Let us see it when you’re finished.

Well that’s about it for me. Help spread the SHINY word of FF/Serenity. The more browncoats the merrier.

Nice to hear. The problem is that I don´t know how good/bad my english is cause I don´t use it very much so I don´t get feedback about it. But nice to here I´m no writing total gibberish (what a great word that is, thanks internet dictionary:))

Here's my first post!

Hello from Singapore!Haha. Lesse...my life story...i was browsing through the rental section of the local video store and being a big fan of contemporary scifi(and pretty ladies), the cover of the Serenity DVD caught my eye.Hehe. And like the OP says, the rest is history.Bought the Series from Amazon, searched all over the web for like minded people, and here i am~!Lurking till now when i felt like posting...and also hoping to get to know all ya'll a bit better..

Are there other Browncoats where you live? Close to you?
I live in the rural part of Missouri, USA and I don't have anyone who is active close to me. There used to be another lady from Joplin, Missouri, USA which is quite close and I always hoped Joplin would have a screening of Serenity for the Can't Stop the Serenity charity event... but it didn't happen. Not enough of us close I think.

I hope you're able to find some ( or recruit some!)Browncoats close to you.

I live in southern Finland so our winters are not very cold, last winter we had about two weeks more than -20 dergrees but mostly it was quite warm and we didn´t have very much snow either. Spring is mostly rain and sleet until april when weather (usually) gets better. Summers are mostly very nice, temperatures vary from 20 to 30 degrees and it´s mostly sunny too. In midsummer sun goes down very late and rises early which is nice when you want to party outside. In northern Finland sun stays up 24/7 which is kind of wierd but lots of fun. At fall the weather varies very much, it can be warm and beutiful or it can rain every day. The best things in finnish weather is the feeling you get in those first warm and sunny days after long winter, they really are worth waiting for.

I know a few people around here who like Firefly but they are not very hardcore fans. So I have a lot of people convert.

Here the winters can sometimes be quite harsh, but snow or ice lasts for a very short time, say a week at most... and then we're back to pretty warm temperatures.

Like you, those first warm days after the longer winter extremes... ahhh, they feel good. It is spring now and flower planting time and our horses are able to go out on the pastures and graze all day and not come in at night. It's green and lush everywhere you look right now. My moss roses are just blooming this afternoon.

Happy converting! It's fun. I converted my brother and his wife who were just here visiting from Florida, USA.
