I'm certain you guys and gals have already caught this before, or have an explanation for it but I just noticed something last night while watching Serenity.
After the heist in the beginning, on the skiff chase... there's a scene where Jayne's mp5 miraculously changes from an mp5k to an mp5a5. I didn't notice in the beginning that he took them both with him... it looks like he only took his mp5k. Am I right?
So, was it a goof or is there a better explanation? And like I said, apologies if this has been discussed five bagillion times already.

This is the guy that had to be ordered to leave his grenades...if he didn't have the A5 on him during the actual heist, he probably stored it on the Mule.

I could kind of agree with you there but if I rememebr correctly it's only for about 1 second... and it might have been around his neck on a strap at the time. I'd have to check my dvd again. It should be right when they swing the skiff around for the barnswallow and everybody pitches to the side. Anybody else see it?

I thought that the "A5" was an MP-5/10, with the straight magazine. I think Jayne had it on the Mule because it was too large and unwieldly inside, or because the MP-5K was easier inside, I don't know.

What do you think Lexx was? It looks like a bull-pup with a Lewis gun barrel shroud and a AK style magazine that is scaled up some. What are your thoughts?

Lexx??? Can you post a screencap of it? Or tell me where it popped up? If it was in Firefly then I gotta say I've only watched about half of the series. If it was in Serenity, then I just can't recall.

"Lux" is the big firearm that Jayne uses at the start of the Reaver firefight in Serenity. I'm with Browncoatsandinista in thinking it's some sort of AK bullpup with the Lewis barrel shroud.

Back to the Morphin MP5, I rewatched the chase scene the other day and Jayne starts out with the K model on the Mule, then changes to the A5 by the end. Seems to make sense to use one then transition to the other, BUT there is one split second when he is using the K, then suddenly the A5, then back to the K. So I call it bad editing...

pretty good catch there, prototype7. I never noticed it before.

FYI- "Lux" was named after LuxLucre, in my opinion the best of the Browncoats...
