Serenity Listing in Today's Variety

In the Film Production Chart in today's Variety, Serenity is listed - here's what it says:

SERENITY
Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, Jewel staite, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Alan Tudyck

EXP, Chris Buchanan, Alissa Tager; PROD, Barry Mendel; DIR-SCR, Joss Whedon; DP, Jack Green; PD, Barry Chusid; DISTRIB, U.

Mutant Enemy. 6/04, Los Angeles

I would say Variety is as close to official as we can get, and it lists Alan but still no Ron. (Of course, as has been much speculated about, maybe they can't release his name because contracts haven't been worked out.) Also, this seems to indicate that they are shooting in LA and not NY.

Okay, just to clarify things a bit, in my post last week I stated that some of the movie was going to shot in New York state and NYC. Not all of it. It seems that little detail has been left out of some of the reposting of that info.

Check it out though the camera man is "Jack Green" - the guy who shot Eastwoods unforgiven - that's deadly! David Boyd did a great job on the TV show and really helped give the show a unique feel and look but Unforgiven! This is gonna look great! (He also shot "Space Cowboys" - I can see Joss reading that on his resume and going "There we go".)

Also Barry Chusid is the production designer....he designed the sets on Wyatt Earp so there's the western thing again - but i hope the original Serenity set is still around 9maybe packed into an Angel backlot? - I do love that ship and wouldn't like to see a new one of her especially from the guy who did Blade......

With Space Cowboys, Brisco County Jr, and Serenity on his resume, Jack Green seems to be the go-to guy for the sci-fi/western genre!

So I'm guessing Universal don't have a problem with the western (or is it Western?) aspect of the show. Sounds like Universal are doing the same thing Miramax did with Kevin Smith; give him very experienced backup to help him produce the best product available.
