STOWEAWAY

Someone over at the Can't Stop the Serenity forum wants to put together a charity screening for the Kansas City area. Here is his post:

Quote:

Hey y'all, just wanted to let you know... I am asst General Manager at the Legends 14 theaters in Kansas City, MO (well its on the KS side but whatever). Anyways, I have mentioned to my General Manager the possibility of doing a Serenity screening... but he seems to think there is little or no interest in the film... he says it flopped 2 years ago... why would it do well now?

So if you're near Kansas City and you want your very own screening, post it here or stop by at www.cantstoptheserenity.com in the Kansas City listing. This person will need your support to get the ball rolling.

Heck yes! I know FollowMal wants to go to a KC screening, and I would definitely show up for a screening with fellow Browncoats in tow with me!!!

Last year, at the Serenity screening at the Screenland, both shows were sold out, and people were trying to get in!!!

I'd love to see a KC screening this year of the BDM!!!! Let's make it happen! Fellow KC Browncoats, pipe up!!

FYI, last year I never appear to have gotten a fundraising total from the KC screening(s).

Absolutely I'm interested! Jayhawk35 knows this because I've been writing him and bugging him, LOL.

I'm going to call the theater and tell them I'm interested and that I will have folks in tow as well. As many as I can round up.

Hmmm, do you have records of the organizers and the theater who showed it Bix? Seems like that would be the place to start.

Hope you're able to get that straightened out.

Putting this back on the front page here and hoping we'll have some more KC area BC's respond.

Jayhawk,

I'm hoping your comment about last year's screening(s) will help convince the theater manager that it's a worthwhile endeavor.
You don't happen to remember or have contact with the organizer from last year, do you? I think that would be most helpful for the folks spearheading this year's event.

BrowncoatKC,

Did you post over at CantStoptheSerenity? If not, I can pass along your interest.

*crosses fingers

I hope this works -- a charity screening in KC would be most shiny indeed

Unfortunately, I don't remember much of any contact info, besides the fact that it was held on Friday and Saturday nights at the Screenland theater in KCMO. Here's my review of the show from last year:

I hope this helps, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will happen again this year!

I was just over at the CSTS website and posted a "Any news?" question. So we'll see if we can get an update on the potential for this event.

I haven't heard anything back from the guy who originally posted.
Jayhawk, could you or someone else there in KC call the Legends theater and see if they're going forward?

Sorry, Stoweaway, been busy being sick.

Better now a little.

Let me check on this today and I'll email Jayhawk too and see what he's heard.

Thanks for bumpin' it back to the front page.
