I looked at the last stats posted on our thread and it seems to me that Star Wars is trying to close the gap again. Am I hallucinating? I CAN be math challenged.

I think the BBC has forgotten about the poll. I thought it was supposed to end a long time ago.

Star Wars is, and was great! I loved Star Wars and it set the stage for a lot of other movies. Serenity is a child of Star Wars and it does totally living up to what Star Wars started...a believable world, or worlds with people in situations, and struggle. Star Wars was about the big picture, totally epic, and that huge climatic conflict between good, and evil; between black and white. Serenity is about people caught up in a major grayness of life and survival, and the grittiness of being alive and staying that way.

Serenity and Firefly has the evil empire called the Alliance, but there are questions... Is the Alliance actually evil, or are the so-called Independents actually righteous and are freedom fighters? Sure what was being done to River was bad and wrong, but is this any different than an organization in the United States of America back in the 50 and 60s using Black people as guinea pigs in their medical experiments? We all loved the scene in an episode of Firefly where Mal kicks a person into a running engine, but was that the right thing for him to do? Star Wars brought us all of this.

The old and new Battlestar Galactic, Babylon 5, and a lot of other shows plus the many thousands of books written ALL owe their worlds to Star Wars. Star Wars owe all of its roots too all of the science fiction and science fantasy writers ands shows from the 20s, 40s, and 60s. Star Trek does contribute to a lot 2nd only to Star Wars if you can believe that. I guess it does build on one another, but Star Wars was the breakthrough; Star Wars was a vision realized completely.

if you look under the second pic in the article Serenity is #1, I think the poll just wasn't correctly shut off when voting was officially over.

Serenity was #1 on the SFX poll. The BBC poll I think is like a recount. WE may not be winning my a great margin but were still up there and #2 would not be a bad place to be.

Whatever brings attention to Firefly/Serenity.

River6213, you are totally right, the original Star wars trilogy was just great and I could vote for them as well as Serenity. But the reason why I give my vote to Serenity is that she needs my votes. I´m sure that Star wars has big enough fanbase already and nearly everybody has seen the movies but Serenity needs all our support to keep flying.

LEADB

We currently have a 2.5% point lead (exactly, just now); this is the largest lead we've had in the -followup- bbc poll. As mentioned earlier, the article is about an SFX poll which serenity won earlier.
