Is it wise to try and sneak in a new thread while most people are asleep?

Dunno, but the one back at http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=28997 has gotten long enough to warrant the creation of a new one.

I will probably will see Shrek this weekend.

No other plans.

I'm watching my "Rock Jones Space Ranger" DVD's right now. Just got done watching Firefly. You know you are a diehard fan when you can not remember how many times you have sat through the Firefly series. I'm just glad they are DVD's. If we were still using VHS I would have worn them out by now.
God bless DVD's.

Has anyone ever not been able to recapture a feeling after an extended absence? I find myself currently in this position. Certain people around here might remember how much the Verse' meant to me at one time, and I'd really like to feel that way about it again, but I just can't seem to recapture the emotions that I used to feel. And it's not just the Verse', either. I'm feeling disturbingly numb to... everything. I don't know what's wrong with me, but it's beginning to make me feel really nervous. Like on the verge of crying and not knowing why, but not being able to, like a fucking female... n' shit.

HK - Females have feelings? I thought they just cried to manipulate people. Wow, you learn something new every day...

I'm finding it difficult to think of anything more offensive to say, so I'll stick with that.

JamesTheDark - That sounds like some depressive goth crap that someone who don't love their Uncle Sam came up with. If you find out who it was, feel free to whip kick the shit outta em.

FMF - I've actually tried to force tears in conditions like this before, but it's just not coming. The thing about genuine apathy is that you're not trying to feel that way. That's how I am now; it has a desired side effect of me not being as angry, but it's a creepy manifestation of it.

Mircea - I know what it is, I'm just trying to figure out how to get over it. I really just want it to wear off, or fix it myself; seeing a shrink could end up messing with my career.

mornin' Imponderables.

Chris - Personally, and I have no idea the kinds of things you have done since the last time I saw you, I think that what you have been up to recently has caused the numbness. As for apathy, that's a tough one, I have had it for quite some time. My opinion is that you need to figure out what, if anything, doesn't evoke this response in you, and focus on that. I can say that it will go away, though I can't say for sure how long it will take. Also, I'll echo what FMF said, though I too know how hard it can be to force the tears.

Let me know if I can do anything to help, that's what us Browncoats (and 76thers) are here for.

Chris: It's not 'goth crap', it's a simply, if sarcastic, veiw on the inevitability of life's end. Soldiers should understand this intrinsically, since the probability of death is higher in that occupation, in this time in the world, than in almost any other in the world. Understanding something is the first step away from fearing it.

And in addition: I don't have an Uncle Sam. I'm Canadian.

And make sure you're checked out for PTSD. That crap'll sneak up on you, and it's better to know and have it dealt with than let it stew for the rest of your life.

I've heard that some females have feelings. I've also seen some of them cry.
As for their motivations, I have no idea; I've never cried in front of anyone when it didn't involve a dead body.

Ha, ha me too!

Morning, Imponderables!

Well a great weekend is being followed up with an even better Monday morning, despite it being cold and overcast here. Husband reports for his first day of work today! Good benes, good company. we are both very pleased.
Once again, thanks to everyone who gave me their e-shoulder when I needed it in the past few weeks. *hug*

AND we sold the humungous fungus bird cage on craigslist over the weekend. It no longer takes up a corner of my bedroom, and I am thrilled to get it out of my house. Yay craigslist! Now, if that Thomas the Tank table would sell...

Well, this fucking female is going to go get herself some more coffee...

The title of this thread reminds me of a wonderfully creepy GameCube game, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. In the game, in addition to health and mana, you had a sanity meter. If you didn't keep it up, you (as the player) began to see and hear things, as if you were actually going crazy (the lights from the console, they shine, like little angels...). Definitely a well made game.

Sweetie, If you study that picture closely, you'd know that picture isn't of my chest.

Specifically, there are two...rather small areas...in that picture that should clue you in that that can't be Mav's chest.

And good morning to you Hobbleit. As for the weekend, it was very mixed.

My prevention group Fridays ended with me cooking indian tacos and eating with the kids. There was something a little sad about it, but I think the kids got more out of it than I had previously expected.

As for two hours of sleep and driving to Gerlach, THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. GRRRRRR.

But while driving home I noticed a meadow I'd never noticed before. After tracking some antelope and taking a few pics I hiked halfway up a mountain and enjoyed a mountain stream and wonderful smells before driving home.

Marker testing and shooting 1911s with John later in the day capped Saturday off pretty well. Shoot and scoot with a few of the regulars Sunday and going to sleep before 11PM felt great Sunday.

A decent weekend.

I'll be PMing ya CMH.

It gets to be embarrassing. I ever cry at commercials, and Jesus Lord - stay away from my house during Extreme Makeove Home Edition on Sundays or you wil drown from the tears!
