Okay, didn't look like anyone else was going to start the new thread, so I borrowed the keys again

Old thread be here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=29065

So... carry on.

Yeah...

RIMG started it, or so the story goes.
Something about trying to get firsties so frantically that he accidentally hit q and posted. Then, I think, he edited it to q, which I think we've decided to turn into some strange mathematical thing, since I thought it read "not-q" and actually thought for a second that it was a math nerd thing.

But we don't want to talk about Teh Maths here. No.

I have rum! Cold, cold rum. All to myself. Yes I do.

Jimi could prolly 'splain it better. I is has tired now.

*collapses into a sleepy pile in the middle of the floor*

About PayPal... I have a personal account there, and I was under the distinct impression that:
(1) receiving money for a "service" instead of eBay or Goods does not have a monthly limit, and
(2) there were no fees deducted from the payments made to you.

I've been using PayPal for a while, both for eBay and non-eBay stuff, and this is how it's always been for my account. Of course, I could only accept payments from an instant transfer / bank account. It's only when you get to a Premiere or Business account that they extort subtract fees for their service, mainly because of the zero limit for eBay / Goods and for the ability to do credit card transactions.

Of course, this was all from the last thread, so maybe I misunderstood the discussion.

Of course, of course, I'm really tired and may not know what I read.

*shrugs*

...

No, you didn't misunderstand... but they are taking a fee out for what I've gotten so far. Their claim is that a Premiere account has lower fees.

*swears in Chinese a little*

Okay, well anyway, remember to say it's for a service, okay people? And I guess direct account transfers are better... and stuff...

Are you getting payments via credit card?

Because, as I said, when I only accept bank payments / instant transfers, there are no fees.

That's why I went from Premiere back to Personal. Credit card transactions have associated fees for the business, so PayPal has transferred those fees on to their users.

And now I am hungry. I wonder if I have any food here....

I grew up in the theatre - so at 16 I was drinking those horrible 'cooler' drinks like they were water and by 18 I was drinking wine like it was cordial... well by 21 I could hold most of a cask of wine... mostly...

I like my spirits these days... vodka, whiskey, gin... and my liquers, Baileys... mostly Bileys actually... it is delicious poured over a generous scoop of real vanilla ice-cream - you know, the stuff they sell in cartons instead of tubs...

I'll just have to see. They make out like a personal account can only recieve a certain amount to it, and also the Premier transfer gouge is a lower percent. Don't mention whether a Premier account comes with a fee attached, though.

In the help section, they mention the fee for Premier accounts (I have one). It says a personal account can only receive a finite number of credit or debit transactions per year, and you pay a transaction fee for those. The fees that I have paid have been weird, and I am trying to find a pattern to find out if there is a set percentage or something, but at this point it seems almost random.

The q was indeed started by me, and it was really just a random letter to hold the firsties spot when I saw one up for grabs. It has since evolved into the fictional maths quality known as 'not-q' and I am not realy sure what it stands for (we discussed it in a previous thread, but I have since forgotten).

When I see the word ripped, I either think of extremely muscled, as you do, or as completely sloshed drunk. Heh, wouldn't that be a fine example for your kids, a young boy getting completely drunk to impress a girl (hey, he'd be years ahead of his time ).

mornin' Rose.

uh, ummm, good news, uh, ....

My boys are living at home with me again. That's definitely good news.

I have a question about Nico's plans for his trip here. Are you familiar at all with the timetable for his arrival and such? Is he coming there to see you before coming to Atlanta? I ask because Lt. 'Zephyr' O'Dell and myself have made ourselves the somewhat official welcoming committee for the international members of the 76th, as we want to make sure that (most) of the ones coming from other countries get here smoothly (and also will not be allowed to buy their own drinks and such while we are around). He is taking care of Canter (from South Africa) and I am naturally caring for Magda, but we had decided to split things with Nico if poissible. I know I am rambling, but it would be good to get at least some of this worked out beforehand. :) Also, we don't want to detract from any time you guys get to spend together.

EDIT: mornin' Fly

I believe his words were something like "I plan to land a couple weeks before D*C" so yes, he should be coming here to see me first. Whenever there's a solid timetable, I'm sure I'll be bouncing around and yelling gleefully about it.
I'm sure he'll be happy to know he won't be paying for his own drinks. Just don't get him too drunk, okay? (but seriously, though, cuz that has potential to 'detract' heh)

Rose - the intention isn't to get him drunk (though I imagine it will happen at least once) but to help to ease the costs of his trip, as he and the others are already paying enough to get over here. It's just something small that we can do to help.

We planned to buy their meals too, as many as we can manage to. We figured since we are the closest members to the Con we would be spending the least amount on travel and could help out those coming from farther away, because it is going to be such an honor to march with an Independent Battalion with international members.

hey all,

busy so will keep it short but for PR

Good news: my new headset arrived today so can play game properly as people can hear me talk

Bad news: currently testing said headset by listening to the cricket over the internet and England have reverted to being rubbish

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Wha?
Headset, game, kind of understand, if you're talking about WoW, Vent, and raiding... (will I ever escape it?)
Cricket? We don't have that over here, you know. I would have never even known it was a game if it hadn't been for Douglas Adams.

nearly, Eve, team speak. scout (inolves flying around in a cloaked ship and telling the people with big ship where the enemy are)

Cricket, is more than a game, to have a real life extension of Douglas Adams, particularly if you heard the third radio series recorded relatively recently, head over to bbc.co.uk/sport and have a listen to TMS, Englishness personified in a cliched kind of way.

I haven't gotten to hear any of the radio series, yet. I'm expecting a certain someone to bring them with him to the States, but for now I'm in radio series limbo.
