Old thread's back at http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=29105

Nothing new to ponder, so continuing on with the old.

Btw, last real post was that of RIMG's, who had this to say:

Oh my goodness - that sounds so hilarious - Morris Danicing combined with rap - we did something like that at Drama School - we had to make up medieval dances according to the rules of medieval dance and then name them...

We called them Cheryl and Trevor...

Ah, good point. I was just going for silly (which I suppose covers both of them).

*sings*

Prince John and the sheriff — they was runnin’ the show,
Raisin’ the taxes ’cause they needed the dough.
A reign of terror took over the land;
They were shakin’ down the people just to beat the band.

I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said,
Hey nonny nonny, and a “Ho, ho, ho!”

The people weren’t happy; morale was low.
They had no place to turn to — there was nowhere to go.
They needed a hero, but no one could be found,
’Cause Robin Hood was out of town.

I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said,
Hey nonny nonny, and a “Ho, ho, ho!” .....

That one ?

*goes ahead and sings the rest*

He was put into the slammer by his Arab foe,
And in a little while he would be no mo’.

I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said,
Hey nonny nonny, hey nonny nonny,
Hey nonny nonny, and a “Woe! Woe! Woe!”

Check it out!

So that’s our story, and it worked out good.
King Richard’s on his throne, and Robin’s back in the ’hood.
So let’s bid our friends a fond adieu,
And hope we meet again in “Robin Hood II.”

I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said, “Hey!” (Hey!)
I said,
Hey nonny nonny, hey nonny nonny,
Hey nonny nonny, and a “Here we go!”

Hi Nico, Hobbleit, RIMG, Magda, Penguin, Navy (Navy?), and Mavs!

Nico, thanks for clearing up my Nabookov question. Ooohhhhh! Lyrics! The Police, I know. Music I know. Lolita, I know. (Well, not personally or biblically; I've seen movies...that didn't sound right either. ) Lyrics are almost always the last thing I remember about a song if I remember them at all.

Oh, the link you gave at the bottom of the last thread points to the top of the same thread.

(Just kidding! Put the fire hose away!! Run away, run away! Rampaging Renegade Rescuer on the loose! Help! Eek!)

Hi and BIG HUGS to Magda! Been missing each other quite a bit lately. Last couple of weeks I've been monogomous to the Cooler (that sounds bad too), so I haven't kept up with anyone's life except for the gossip here.

Sorry you missed the fun and games here yesterday, Penguin. It were a lots of fun.

Mavs, and FlyVote when you get here, thank you for the awesome asshat war yesterday. 'Twas the most entertainment I've had in a while. (what does that say about me?)

Hey, Jimi, I hope all is well in your interweb-sterilized world.

Gonna back up now and catch a couple of posts from yesterday that require my attention.

Edit: Well, there's the FlyBoy now! Heya bub!

I'll steal a Bob Mackie dress for Mav. Or not steal it.

I can't "get away" with a crime. If I've committed a nefarious act that is undiscovered/unpunished by the criminal justice system, I still have my conscious to deal with. And perhaps, but not necessarily, a God.

Geez, people get all moral about this question don't they?

IMO, "getting away with it" means no criminal punishment...and no moral punishment, self-impose or otherwise.

Because really, I'm a Little Miss Priss. I have a hard time lying to my mother (or anyone for that matter). I am a total goodie two shoes, spoilsport. Hardly an ounce of bad girl in me. And yet, I can come up with a crime.

Sorry, Zeek. I'm too distracted right now by the whole "Will Paris Hilton appear in court or not?" thing raging.

I'm also distracted by a particularly shiny silver car in the parking lot.

(And Rugbug, I've been trying to think of a crime since yesterday...and the only thing I can come up with is embezzling a large sum of money from some company, provided that my embezzling didn't cause someone to be fired, or someone not to have the money to clothe their children, etc.)

Sooooo, steal the shiny car (what kind is it?) and run over Paris Hilton. The perfect 'humanitarian" crime.
So except for Killer-Jimi, the rest of us are base thieves. Seems like that's about the right mix for a bunch of Browncoats.

Then how would it be a crime? What would define it as a crime, if not for the moral implications?

If morality is fully suspended, I'd brutally murder someone. Anyone. Just to feel their fear and enjoy their struggle to hold on to life. Then I'd slice up the body and make a morbid public scene, perhaps recreate "Starry Night" on a child's playground using the entrails of the corpse. And then roll around in it.

No, I certainly wouldn't. But I probably had a couple of you thinking "WTF, FlyVote?". Complete suspension of morals leads to a rather interesting (!) world, however.

Flyvote, it's just a 'dig a little in the person that is Flyvote' question. Harmless. Like 'If you were a car, what kind would you be?"

There are no practical real world applications. No complete suspension of morality. No one is going to commit the crime. It's hypothetical. This isn't some novel by Doestevsky.

But I suppose you ARE telling us a lot about yourself by your answers. Which really is the point of the question.

Great. I'm a homicidal maniac.

Actually I'd learn more with only the criminal suspension, not the moral one. What crime would you do that you can get away with in the legal sense, but then have to live with yourself? Murder? Theft? Nothing? Would anyone feel comfortable with themselves having committed a crime?

'I'm at WKRP in Cincinati'

Don't ask me why, but that gorram song has been stuck on my head since showering.

Good morning ponderers!

So the two teachers on Head Of The Class are two of my most favorite actors. Howard Hessman had roles in Billy Jack and Flight of the Navigator (WKRP) and Billy Connolly in Mrs. Brown and The Boondock Saints.

I know it's terribly random, but there is no point to my post other than to say HI to everyone and I'm short timing it today.

Hi.
