Just watched the pilot again. Near the very beginning, when we first meet Inara, right between the shot of her finishing up with her client (talk about euphemisms) and when they sit down to tea there is a couple second shot of some wierd object that kinda looks like a fancy lava lamp.

Anyone notice this before? Did Joss just like the prop and want to include it real quick?

Ah! That is pretty attentive. They must be specifically showing it then so that we see time passing between shots and to connect with that guy's accusation about her clock being rigged later. And now I don't blame him. Never trust a lava lamp clock.
