Sneaking in to give Oddsbodkins my, as he says, relatively unbiased opinion, since this thread is always really open and I shouldn't continue to hijack the 'unpopular opinions' one. Is that okay? I hope it's okay. I feel a little weird about it, but who am I to pass up someone actually asking for my opinion?
You seem to take nothing seriously, mate. You're happy go lucky to an almost unbelievable degree, especially as I've seen you drift in and out of the site enough to think you've had a whole lot going on. I'm not sure whether it's admirable or irritating. So I guess it's both. Admirable because nothing seems to really get you down, irritating because I wonder what's really going on. Also, I can't do that laughing at hardships thing, and have sometimes wished I could. As you might have noticed, I spend much of my time seriously pondering things; motivations and viewpoints, facts and arguments. I should have been a psychologist or something. So it's weird to me when you just laugh things off.
You're also cute. Probably too young for me, but cute.
What? It's part of the opinion.
Curiosity assuaged I hope?

So... can I have some wine? Don't remember seeing too much wine in this pleasant little thread, but have to think a bar would have a bottle or two of decent red.

I imagine they could, but I just use some polish and a soft cloth so there's not too much friction or time used to make them nice and shiny

Curiosity assuaged yes, and thank you ^^

There should be wine, in fact if there isn't I'm going to be shocked at myself for overlooking it!

Is a winelist required, or can we just go with the whole infinite variety trip?

I hope you saved a clown or two. I didn't really get a good look at them (flying by too quickly).

So, it begins. Now, not only do you have one opportunity nibbling, another stops by. To be followed by another and another and so on (not saying they will all be gems, mind you). From famine to feast. Now the hard part will be to narrow the field down from your end. Be careful what you wish for.

Well, I went in to the interview Zen, and came out discombobulated and realized I wasted a morning.

I Metro downtown in this blazing heat, walk a few blocks to the building and everything is good. I am a few minutes early when I arrive at the reception desk. They ask me to fill out some forms, which I do. Yada, yada - I sit down with the interviewer. (Picture in your head a 50-60 y.o. woman, very thin, straight gray hair cut in a pageboy, with her glasses pushed up as a headband.)

I have now been there about 6 minutes.

She shuffles the papers around, looks at my resume very briefly, and asks me what I made at my last job. She asks me if I have a car (Illegal question, b*tch!). She asks me one or two other things, then as she shuffles papers asks where my test scores are. (Now, I had been under the impression the woman who contacted me was going to forward to my email some sort of test on MS Office / Powerpoint/Excel. It never appeared, only a confirmation email for my interview, so I assumed it would be administered at the interview.) The woman throws up her hands and proceeds to yell at a woman "Beth" in the room for about 30 seconds. Then she turns to me and says "Thanks for coming. I can't determine if you are suitable without those scores." and she gets up and leaves. And then to drive the knife home, as she walks out of the room she said "Pretty hair, though."

I've been there maybe 7 minutes. Interview is over.

Beth comes over and apologizes for me not receiving the email from her, and for the woman (I never did get her name) - She promises to send me the email (which is now in my email box) and asks me to call her this afternoon both when I get home, and when I've completed the testing.

I had been so worried about this interview, and I am a more competent office professional than those two combined. Figures.

I haven't decided whether I'm going to take the test or not.

Edit: Hello Riverdancer!
Edit2: Rose, I loved what you wrote to Zero. Very, very accurate in its Browncoaty Goodness. *hug*

mornin' drinkers.

I missed y'all yesterday, and though my day seemed to fly right by, it was definitely missing something: Y'all.

Rose-doll, *hugs* and that was a very well-written description, that I tend to concur with. Magda wrote some 76th fanfic, the last line of the most recent chapter was:

"Magdalena Martin, your life ain’t never gonna be yours again from here on in… no matter what happens. You belong to the 76th ‘til the end now… and they’ll belong to you.”

Spoken from my character (SFC Alexander) to hers. Substitute 76th for Browncoats in general, and you have how I feel about you guys summed up pretty well. Just know that I've got each and every one of your backs. and some *bigassjimibearhuggles*

Rose and zero (and any others this may apply to), the mention of not knowing/not being on good terms with your father is a good part of the reason I made the decision I did with regards to Ami's baby.

Oh, new patron, good to see you here RiverDancer. *goes to make sure there is plenty of red wine in stock*

*pounces on Roxy and hugs her until she can't hardly breathe*

*removes his shirt in homage to our favorite bartender, then gets busy making sure people have what they need: (in no particular order other than what comes to mind first)

*sets out a glass of Fettercairn, a small glass of 40 year old port, a pitcher of freshly squeezed mango juice with some added guarana, a couple of 7 & 7s, several shiny cans of -1.11C Dew, an ice-cold Labatts, several glasses of bourbon whiskey, half a dozen Irish carbombs, a couple of pints of guinness, a very dirty martini with extra olives, a large bowl of Bailey's and ice cream, some of the finest real Australian beer (not Fosters, of course), a cold Coke, a cold Diet Coke with lime, a glass of house red wine (is a cab sav ok?), and gods help me if I left off anything*

*stretches out on the deck and enjoys a smoke, keeping in the shade so his sunburned shoulders don't get worse*

afternoon all,

nearly didn't make it into work today as felt like ten tons of hammered shite this morning, dropped two pint glasses trying to do the washing up, attempted to make tea with unboiled water and then twatted myself round the head by walking into the partition wall at the end of my kitchen space. Get into work only twenty mins late, get greeted by, 'you look like death' as I walk down to my office and then walk solidly into my office door and bounce as it was locked due my wonderful colleague taking a last minute holiday (ie arranged this morning I believe!) whilst the other is currently in Thailand for a month leaving me on my own. Needless to say everything went bedlam like hence my late arrival and currently miserable mood.

*downs Fettercairn*

luckily virtual alcohol doesn't upset my stomach or get me drunk given that in my current state of mind drinking would be a bad plan.

someone bring me cheering news, anything, can't even buy myself a cd to cheers myself up with at the mo so need to live vicariously through others!
