Now I am learning about scary.

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I was a bit startled to be watching an old episode of "CSI: Miami" last night on A&E and suddenly recognize the necrophiliac, babes-on-the-beach dude as Sean Maher! Talk about a different role! Very creepy, although they ended up not giving him much to do.

I believe that was also Maggie Grace (Shannon from "Lost") in the same episode?

What other network shows have our BDHs been in? (Yes, I did see what little they gave us of "Drive.")

Here's a little rundown of what some of the BDH's are doing right now.

Nathan Fillion will be on Desperate Housewives in the fall. His whole list of credits is on IMDB but some of the TV highlights are: One Life to Live (he is returning for the 10,000th episode coming up Aug 17) Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, Outer Limits, Pasadena, Miss Match, and Lost.

Jewel Staite will be on Stargate Atlantis.

Moreana Baccarin is in Heartland on TBS.

Adam Baldwin is in Chuck on NBC in the fall. He has many many television and movie credits.

Both Adam and Moreana will be in a SCIFI channel movie soon.

I haven't heard anything about Sean in a while.

If you are a CSI fan, Las Vegas division, you've seen "Nandi" in a recurring role, and you also saw Alan Tudyk as a pedophile. Big part, that one. And the usual effective Tudyk performance.

Alan appears on stage, too, so putting his name into the IMDb search won't get all his work for you. He's been in Spamalot, Prelude to a Kiss, and might be in something right now -- not sure. He has 2 movies opening, and had a small part in "Knocked Up," which opened a while back. Busy guy.

I loved Alan in "Knocked Up". Now when I think of Wash I imagine him making that gesture to 'tighten up'. That's one thing I noticed about Judd Apatow. He doesn't do asshole bosses. His bosses, the other one being Jane Lynch in THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, are more overenthusiastic bosses that pry too much into their employee's lives.

As per Sean in "CSI:Miami", that and the one ep of the original CSI that was directed by Quentin Tarantino are the only two episodes of any of the CSI's I've ever seen. And I liked him in that because it shows that he has real range. You can suspend your disbelief and see him fully embody a character that's a complete antithesis to his most famous role.

I wonder if during the filming of SERENITY, they nicknamed him Sean "Of the Dead".

And just to go on a rant about CSI here, I try to avoid them as much as possible, since it is the ultimate formula. It is without a dubt the most formulaic thing on tv. Even with the various LAW AND ORDER's, each of the series at least tries to examine a different aspect. Like SVU has a more personal approach and focuses on sexual crimes, and CI (my favorite of the three) shows the crimes from the criminals POV as well, along with Vincent D'Onofrio as that really oddball Shrerlock Holmes type detective.

The CSI's on the other hand are all exactly the same. The only difference is the locations. Dick Wolf once compared the franchise to McDonalds, which if you think about it, it is.

Jim Carrey when he went on Letterman once, did this bit imitating David Caruso. And he is so spot on. Every opening of CSI: Miami has him do the exact same thing.

I imagine in some parallel universe David Caruse played Mal Reynolds, and all the classic Mal moments have him inexplicably put on sunglasses and turn left of the camera with The Who wailing behind him.

"I believe...(put on sunglasses) we'll rise again." (Moves left despite the ship being right behind him.)

"I do the job...(takes the bag of platinum and puts on the glasses)...I get paid." (Moves left again.)

"And it starts with a sentence that might last a lifetime, or it all might just go down in flames. If I let you know me, then why would you want me? Each day I don't is a shame. Each day I don't is a great shame."

Loudon Wainwright III - "Strange Weirdos" off the "Knocked Up" soundtrack

Thanks for the responses! Some of those I'd heard of, and some I hadn't.

In my defense, I've never watched any of the other CSIs (except the one episode with Alan Tudyk in it). CSI:Miami, oddly enough, got me interested because it wasn't as graphic as the others and I didn't think David Caruso was as awful as everyone makes him out to be. I watched a few newer ones before A&E started showing older ones, and there's a definite evolution there: I think the earlier ones are formulaic and don't quite seem to know where to go, but the more recent ones seemed better. I haven't ever watched any of the new episodes on CBS, just the ones on A&E. It's not on my regular schedule of shows to watch, but I watch it if I'm bored or otherwise unoccupied at 7:00. It was pure luck that I happened to catch the one with Sean Maher.

Thanks again!

COSMICFUGITIVE

Nathan Fillion has appeared on 'Lost.' He debuted in season three.

Gina Torres has appeared in both Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (as Nebula) and Xena: Warrior Princess (as Cleopatra.) Talking about Cleopatra, she also starred in Cleopatra 2525 - a short lived futuristic series from the same people as Xena and Herc. Gina has also appeared in CSI, as a prison warden. She is/was also part of another, more recent tv show, but I forget the name.

Summer Glau has gone from guest starring in CSI, The 4400, to having a recurring character in The Unit. She is also involved in the upcoming 'Sarah Connor Chronicles' tv show.

Adam Baldwin has appeared in 'Day Break' - a short lived, but fantastic cop show. It was full of twists and turns and Adam's character was fun to watch. Adam Balwin has also guest starred on Stargate SG-1.

Morena Baccarin can been seen in the comedy series 'How I met your Mother.' She also played a villain in the 9th or 10th season (?) of SG-1.

Jewel Staite can currently been seen on Stargate Atlantis. She debuted on SG: Atlantis as one of the Wraith, but now plays a separate character who's a medic.

NO! THEY CAN'T! SCI-FI ORIGINAL MOVIES ARE TRADITIONALLY HORRENDOUS AND WILL TAINT THEIR RECORDS!

Brilliant!!! I have only seen CSI: Miami once, and that was in a restaurant/bar on a tv without sound (I think - it was too noisy to know for sure). So I never knew how corny David Caruso's voice really was. ::wince:: And that The Who song entrance... hah. Mixed with Firefly? High-larious parodies (but only if the original remains happily and safely intact with our beloved NATHAN FILLION as Captain).

I saw the CSI: Las Vegas with Melinda Clarke (Nandi). She was the dominatrix/madam there.

I also caught her in a Seinfeld rerun recently where she was Jerry's girlfriend in a couple of episodes. It was the one were Kramer had the J Peterman reality tour and was getting rid of the muffin bottoms.

Hmmm...I haven't seen a whole lot of the BDC members outside of the BDS and the BDM (and that'll be about enough BDAs (Big Damn Acronyms) for the moment ). Saw Alan in CSI and Dodge Ball...Adam in various things over the years (as others have noted, he's a busy guy)...Gina in Standoff...and Christina Hendricks (damn!) in a couple of things...and that's about it. I could go on about Ms. Hendricks in general and her appearance in Without a Trace in particular, but I'm relatively new here and there will be plenty opps later for me to show what a complete neanderthal throw-back I am.

I like L&O well enough (L&O: SVU, L&O: Original Recipe, L&O: NY - in that order). My one pet peeve is the tawdry moralizing they do in the last 60 seconds of L&O: Orig.

A couple of years ago I'd have gone along with that, but not so sure anymore. To me, differences between the orig. CSI and CSI: Miami are pretty strong...but in the interest of brevity I will simply say that original CSI is rather on the "thoughty" side (FOR a primetime major network series), while CSI: Miami is rather LESS "thoughty". Actually, I can't get through a whole episode of Miami anymore without thinking of Click & Clack ("You've just wasted another perfectly good hour..."). In light of that, I'm still oddly sympathetic to David Caruso, probably because he pulled a junior Mickey Rourke early in his career and was kinda persona non grata for a few years. He may be a one-line/one-note wonder, but I like to see most anybody holding down gainful employment (Dick Cheney maintaining the grounds of my old high school, for example).

Pretty funny! Come to think of it, I can sort of see Caruso in a recurring role as an Alliance functionary...

Alan T.'s next (I think) movie - he's kinda hard to spot because he's very unWash-like.

No that looks like a great film! I've been wondering what happened to westerns. Lately they've all been made for TV. I want to see that really bad now.
