When I first shaved my head, it was kinda public domain for rubbing to see what it felt like. I still not sure how I felt about that. I like the attention, I like the "enlightenment" of others, but--maybe since I'd never shaved my head before and never had the experience--it still felt weird on some level. Naughtily tactile with no naughty bits. I dunno.

I'll probably keep it short until then, as it is much less to deal with, and will fit easier under my 76th helmet.

Whoa. Good haircut.

Good morning everyone.

SO I had a supervisory first the other day.

I made someone cry. Well, I might have triggered her crying after presenting the problems with the shift and asking for an explaination. I did not feel the least bit bad at the time. Levity and confrontation does that to people. I figure it was the whole day that finally broke her, not me. But it seems that I am lacking in emotion in other parts of my life and have had it pointed out in the last day or so.

I don't know what I am missing or not doing. But being told that is bugging my ass. There is some aspect where I am not "stepping up" as I am told. But I have no clue because she won't tell me.

I just don't get it and sit utterly clueless of the answer. I'm also sure it is something that will have to come directly from her and not asuumptions from all you wonderful people on the board. But if anyone has an idea I'd really like to know. Seems I can't figure it out myself and need a little help.

hmmm well I'd say not being emotional at work is a good thing. It's called being professional. You should be calm and simply explain or ask for explanations without being upset or overly sympathetic. It's not your problem she cried and couldn't handle being told there was a problem.. I am really bugged by women who can't handle being told they screwed up and cry or guys who can't handle it and yell... As for unemotional..I'm not sure it seems to me you express emotions well, but you might want to ask the person who feels you are " unemotional" what response they think would be appropriate or what they need to have expressed:) HUGS though

Have fun with the rugrats. Got to see PsychoBilly at Mickey D's with Mindy for a few minutes. He really seems to like her.

I think the "proper emotion" thing is a hangup from her husband. She says he ignored her as a partner/woman more often than not. I think I do a fair job. Seem I always have a hug or playful brush/flirting waiting for me around every corner and I always reciprocate the gesture. I do the same but might need to kick it up a notch.

So I was talking with my buddy John a few weeks ago and it seems we have the same type of relationship. He's been with his other for nine out of the last twelve years and said that it has only been in the last year or so that he has really been "in love" with her. He's always loved her, but they have known each other for fourteen years, been together once before, and have always been friends.

I'm not saying that I'm not in love with Mindy. I just haven't really had the chance with the sudden onset of the relationship, resolving past issues, and dealing with all the current issues (there is a plethora). The sex thing is working on getting better (thanks MSG for the exploring advice but she was a half a step afead of me). I don't think I've really had the chance to be in love like this before and cannot fathom a feeling past infatuation. But this strange sense of security that seems to come easy with her is very reassuring as a step in the direction of falling in love.

I said alot. Need to work.

Sorry folks...last week was pretty much out of it with a cold (that I caught the previous Saturday), then I had a 6-day workshop this week from 8-4.

*sad, 'cause HK's gone* Hope the 猫 の 忍び decides to come back sometime...

Favorite western salad toppings (no order):
* candied walnuts
* crumbled blue cheese
* crumbled feta cheese
* fresh Caesar salad dressing/fixing
* crunchy croutons
* anchovies (on my Caesar salad)
* thinly sliced onion rings (a.k.a. "tobbaco onion rings")

(I'd mention the dressings, but I like them on the side, and do the "dip the fork in and grab some veggies" method)

Congratulations Mav on the new job.

*sigh* Summer is now down to days...not even a week. Oh well. Everyone else on summer break have some fun on my behalf please!

I had a fondness for alla your topping choices but not on salad, the obvious exceptions being the Caesar entry and the croutons which grace my own list although I quite forgot the very necessary adjective "crunchy".

This is an epiphany! I had never considered such a maneuver! But for it to work for me, I would need to reverse the order: stab first and then dip. I understand the dip first concept however. People always seem to slather rather than drizzle the dressings. I'm an admitted and unrepentant slatherer, however. I hope this doesn't change things between us.

Summer? Glau?? Less than a week??? No, no, no. That can't be right. Odds I think this "Summer" thing is a season of the year that you don't get in Scotland. I have heard though you folk usually get at least one day of sunshine in a year; that would be the closest thing I can think of.

Well, let's see...

I worked. And then I worked. Oh, yes, I worked some more. But that's okay. MsQ went out to the
Art Fair on Saturday and got me a non-Disney-fied Davy Jones kind of oar with a twine-haired, carved skull as the handle. I named it Asmodeus. She also got me a beveled glass tile sculpture thingy that catches the sunlight in magnificent prismacolor and has a mirrored bottom causing an infinite regression aspect when you look into the center. At least until your own reflection appears, scaring the bejeezus out of you...

All that pales when I think of why she gave it to me.

EDIT! (not): So I guess I had a sensational weekend.

Well good morning to everyone. Seems the weekend was a little slow but having 'Neko drop by is always good Ju Ju.

So here is an update for ya's MSG:

Thursday seemed like a very blocked day in the relationship sector until later that evening. Things equalized and ended up all good. Saturday was incredible. For the first time this all started it actually felt like we were "together". No sleep 'til Sunday morning. Late Sunday morning. We spent the early morning hours together, I spent most of the morning/afternoon with the kids (and two ten minute naps for survival purposes), and cooked dinner in the evening. We spent a little time together Sunday night.

The differance between this weekend and the previous: her five year old daughter spent the weekend with us. It's not to say that we aren't affectionate when her older kids are around. But with all that has happened in the last month alone it seems a bit unfair to them to add me to the mix so soon. Strange thing is that she has taken to me and my family so quickly. She will probably stay with us until Mindy gets into her own place.

I'll add more in a minute as this is shaping up to be a very long post.

(Cont.)

After alot of communication early Saturday morning I finally told her that I am falling for her very fast and that I am no longer afraid to do so. There was something about us actually being "together" for the last week that made more sense than anything in a very long while.

A bit of truth was divulged the other day by her. She said that I could have any number of women I wanted. When asked why she said she noticed how women react when we are together. She said I could have had most of them before, but that she didn't notice as much until now.

My reaction must have been the right one 'cause *details deleted for forum rating purposes*

Kidding. We were cuddling on the couch watching Slither (I still can't stop smiling about that) when I told her that I haven't been running around because I didn't want any of those women. None of them chased after me. None of them excited me. None of them made me act without thinking. I do not love or want anyone but her. I've said it plenty of times before even as friends but this time was the the first time I think I really, really ment it. The first time I could actually understand why I was saying it.

Alot of ground has been covered in a very short time but things are finally reaching a level of normality (Aside from her sneaking out of the room with the kids to spend the early morning hours with me). Someday everything will reach the point where we can actually be together. I'm in no rush but I won't let the thought of that fade either.

Ya see Jonny, we're not quite "together" in front of her kids. They have alot going on right now so I think it could be understood that showing too much affection in front of them might not be good. We still hold hands a little and have some physical contact in front of them. Just no huggy/kissy stuff in front of them.

So they are staying in my room. My cave. But aside from not having access to my TV/DVD/huge stereo system there really isn't much more I miss than actually sleeping with Mindy. Seems the other night when she snuck out there wasn't a whole lotta sleeping.

There is just something about that not quite on the normal side. Seems we should have our own room. But, as anyone with kids would know, you never really have your own room. I don't have my own kids but there has still been toys and tiny mismatched socks in there for days.

I love this kind of stuff in your writing.

I getcha, though. All in good time. Enjoy this part while it lasts though. You will always look back on it with an inexplicable fondness. MsQ and I spent an inordinant amount of our young married life living up stairs from her parents. The floors were paper-thin (at least as far as soundwaves were concerned) and we aren't, um, quiet. There was always this consciousness hanging over us whenever the mood struck that we can't let anybody hear us. I'm sure it didn't work.

And PSA was just not allowed in plain view. As was any bared flesh other than arms. Don't even want to get into that nightmare.

But the idea of two grown-ups having to sneak around behind the kids backs...you're a good man Joe. Tha's all.

MSG

NV- just be sure to toughen your feet up for the tiny pointy corners of legos and the sharp wooden blocks, plus assorted tractors, dolls, barbie shoes, and other tiny yet frighteningly painful to step on items make their way all over the house, yard, etc... Also, the fridge full of dino nuggets, mac and cheese, juice boxes, string cheese, jello, cut up fruit, and of course the ever lovely hot dogs...and then there's the pockets/purse with little bits of cheerios and graham cracker dust that for some reason cannot be removed from any corners or lining... I can go on forever...but aren't they just grand. I applaud you and Mindy's decision to wait to let the kids in on it as they've had a lot of upheaval and that might not help..give them time to adjust to one new thing and then give them another...by then they'll be so used to you and so happy and attached they'll be thrilled.
OK that was way longer than I meant it to be...off to the gym:)

Long but still well accepted MSG. Not sure how things are gonna go. We have realized that despite being similar, we are very different if not oppsite on alot of things. But there is some strange equalizing that happens when we are together. Almost as if we are able to add that little bit of what's missing in our own hearts to help the other understand.

On the kid front: I think her daughter really likes me. She is the one I know the least but she seems to seek my opinion and attention to many things. I almost wonder if she latched onto the authority and understanding that I have offered. It feels wierd to have corrected her on several occasions and had a posative response to it. Mindys oldest son is eight. I was with him quite a bit as an infant/toddler and her remembers quite a bit about me. But I've spent the least amount of time with him recently and wonder what he thinks. He is very sensative and I would do nothing to hurt him. But the situation and circumstances have effected him in ways unseen and it kills me to see the bit of sadness he carries. If there is anything I can do I will help him be strong and happy. And there is the baby. He seems very far behind the sickeningly advanced BabyV. But the few weeks I've been around him have been great. He is already standing on his own, talking some mad gibberish, and fighting to feed himself.

Seems I've rambled a bit. But I wonder alot about my abilities to do the job. I've already ran into money trouble helping with all the travel. But keeping up with food and such isn't much of a problem. There are still bills unpaid and sidework aplenty that I'm trying to catch up to supplament it all.

So yeah. There is some nervousness abound. But all the good stuff really makes for a grand motivator.

And yes Jonny, I had mentioned that I might not make it. Seems I kept hope alive thinking I might pull magical sort out of my ass for the trip. But I'm throwing in the towel for sure at this time.

Like I said. Care packages will arrive at some of our southern brothers door steps in time for travel and enjoyment at D*C.

NVG - though you really don't have to send anything, I will look forward to seeing what you came up with that you have kept in your mind all this time.

JQ - I got asked (and agreed) to take the ladies shopping at least one day in Atlanta, as I will have a vehicle there. If you care to join us, maybe you and I can find a suitable drink serving establishment while they do so. :)

We must all fear evil men, but there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Do you want to see more of Magda? Of course you do. We all do. If you are interested in helping our Dear One to get a laptop with wireless connectivity, please contact PhoenixRose.

That implies there is an EASTERN set of toppings as well. Do tell.

Yep. Here we also make somen salad (somen noodles as the "base" with veggies and assorted toppings on top).
Somen salad toppings I like (most of them jullienned):
* "ham" fish cake (red and white fishcake
* nori (the kind used for sushi and musubis
* scrambled egg
* lettuce
* somen salad dressing (soy sauce, Japanese rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame seed oil/vegtable oil)

As for "Eastern":
* won ton chips/slivers
* salad dressing for Chinese Chicken salad

*gigglesnerk* JQ, you're forgiven, I read/heard about the "dip fork in dressing, stab salad" somewhere as a way to eat salad for dieters. Tried it, found its tasty that way, and have kept at it since. But there are times when lots of sauce works even better so, "drowning" 'em works for me at times too .

MsG: This weekend for me was the last day for a 6-day workshop (all day). (Yes, there are some goodies that I now have from the workshop-- the group sponsoring has a grant and purchased video projectors for the schools that have at least one teacher who took the workshop, statistical calculators for each teacher to use, 2GB flash drive, a box of presentation-size chart paper, and a camera, plus there are funds to use for each teacher's classroom supplies.)
Yesterday, was spent attempting to shop for work clothes/shoes but spent money on school supplies. (I think it's a very telling point when I spent more money on 3-prong binders and composition notebooks for my students in minutes and found nothing I'd like clothing-wise for me in hours. ) Then lunch and the afternoon with a couple of friends.

NVG: Yay! I'd hug, but I don't think I'll share my cold with you so...*gentle "lucky f'ing guy--it's about time, and am happy for you" punch to the shoulder*

*sigh* I am extremely jealous of everyone who can go to D*C at all. Unless the school system here suddenly decides to have a week-long break around labor day, or D*C moves to the end of September, I doubt I'll ever get to go. (Too many miles and too many timezones, darnit.)

Oh well, got to go, lots to do, very little time to do it in! *waves*
