First of all this makes me happy and sad. I’ve watched 5 of the 6 vids ( couldn’t get the last one to play) and hung on every word outta Joss’ mouth. Now I don’t know how old this is but a sequel to Serenity is mention several times and with positive feeling I might add. The sad part to me is the way Joss says “ No more Firefly.” I can’t believe he’d even think that. So now I want to speak directly to JW.

HELLO,-----JOSS. Hey buddy Firefly is one of your children. You can’t just abandon this show like that.Think of all us FF orphans.Who will shelter us? Keep us warm? Tell us FF jokes? Come on now. I know you’re commander & chief & all but even the chief needs help now and then. Here we go, let me prop you up. There…better aren’t chu. I know that it’s very painful for you but FF must go on. To paraphrase Mal “ I intend to be entertained many more times by you before I see FF slip.” Keep the faith baby.Tell me, tell me to my face that you just can’t create that magic anymore. You can. I know you can. If you can’t call it Firefly then call it something else but I know you’ve got dozens of FF stories left in you. Call Tim and you guys get it together.

Sequels to the BDM are nice and I’m all for ‘em but what I really want, nay need, is to come home after a hard days work. Prop my limbs up on my easy chair. Pop open a bottle of cool mudders milk just as I begin hearing the theme song “TAKE MY LOVE..TAKE MY LAND…TAKE ME WHERE I CAN NOT STAND……” Even after a crappy day at work I would sleep well after viewing another great story from the verse.

If you'd like to hear some more of Joss in Australia, we have the full audio of at least one or two of his pre-Serenity release Q&A's (I forget exactly how many). They should still be listed on our homepage, link below. If not, you'll need to search in our archives.

Does anyone know the date of this interview?

And, ZZETTA13, are you sure Joss said, "No more Firefly" or did he say, "Firefly is no more." just referencing the fact?

Howdy folks

First of all I rewatched the entire set of Joss on stage in Aussieland (including #6 this time) and I have to say that our browncoat brothers and sisters downunder have to be some of the friendliest, warm , hospitable folk in the world. I know they made Joss feel welcome and at home while he was there. My hats off to you guys.

Now my fellow coat Baker, good question. And not being the sure, confident person that I am I went back and took notes to present them on this board for discussion and opinion. I will say that I am very surprised that there hasn’t been more talk going around the forums with the upbeat vibes I’m getting from these youtube vids. Maybe our army of browncoats are just being silently optimistic.

Here’s the breakdown:
VID-1, near the end of the vid Joss is asked about revealing Books secret past to the world of adoring FF masses to where he states that when he deems that information is necessary and there is no other way of getting the news out he will personally go on the internet and tell us all about the Shepherd. Kinda gives me a warm fussy feeling all over because Mr. Book is supposed to be dead.
VID-2 Baker my friend you are right. Near the end of the second vid Joss clearly says “ Firefly is no more” and not as I’ve posted above “ No more Firefly”. My mistake.
VID-3 Joss talks about his emotional sadness of FFs cancellation ( of which he has every right) and says that had the series continued the Wash and Book characters would happily be making their way through the many upon many of other FF adventures. He also says, and I’m not sure if it’s in this vid that as of the first writings of the BDM he wasn’t going to kill any of the main characters off. He did so to make it seem more realistic for all the newbi Fans he hoped Serenity would be creating. This is something that I don’t understand and a point of disagreement I have with the master writer.
VID-4 there is more discussion over the cancellation of our beloved show by Fo>< and there is some talk about Adams character Jayne. I get the feeling that Jayne was to be initially used as a throw away character but Adam played the part so well there was a change of mind and heart about killing him off. Also in this vid there is some talk by Joss about how the original feel and genuine mood of the series has been lost with no possible way of creating THAT energy again. I disagree here also.
VID-5 & 6 are fun and Joss’ wit is evident in all 6 vids but besides some laughs good humor I didn’t feel the need to bring anything to the board here. The notes ended.

So in retrospect the youtube vids have me feeling good about a possible sequel to our BDM and I don’t feel that Joss has lost total faith in any FF tv projects. I do want to let him know that we are still holding the line and this for me means more Firefly on television also. Wash brought you that red button Joss and told you to push it when you wanted them ( entire cast and crew) to come back. Well I’ll say that it holds true for the browncoat fans as well. WE HOLD!!
Z

EDIT: btw whoever won the dinner date with Joss I hope that the meal isn't severed on a desert island. His choice of folk for dinner doesn't seem all that tasty to me

It was at an Aussie premier of Serenity (Sydney, I think) so it's a couple of years and far too few ticket sales later. The whole thing is on the bonus disc of the region 4 DVD

Many people have asked Joss since the Aussie Q&A panels whether he still is interested in doing more Firefly films/series/whatever. He has reiterated many times that he would be there in a second to work on a Firefly/Serenity project again. I can find references if anyone would like them, though I'm a bit busier than usual at the moment, getting podcasts out every day!
